A word from Meriwether's Restaurant & Skyline Farm
One way to make sure you’re cooking with the freshest ingredients is to grow them yourself. Meriwether’s grows the produce it serves at its own Skyline Farm and is proud to be among only a handful of truly farm-to-table restaurants across the country. Chef Dolan Lane's menus are inspired by the Willamette Valley’s peak-of-the-season abundance, matching our harvest with some of the finest raw ingredients in the world, from the farmers, fishers and ranchers of the Pacific Northwest.

Inside, experience our warm and cozy ambiance with stone fireplaces, hardwood floors, stained glass and copper accents. Outside, guests dine year-round in the covered, heated & enclosed patio, gardens & gazebo. There is even an outdoor fire-pit, so perfect for a chilly Portland evening. Take a walk through our gorgeous all-season garden that surrounds the entire 2601 Vaughn Street historic building.

Diner Reviews
  • "I love the outdoor dining here so much! The birdhouses, the fountains, the wrought iron, the gorgeous garden. Feed me a hot dog...I'd be happy in the garden."

  • "Sarah and Amelia make dining here a pleasure. The garden setting is attractive."

  • "After taking the trouble to go on line and make a reservation for an outdoor table at 7:30 pm (only time available as per the website), we waited 30 minutes for a table. We were told that the restaurant was "very busy" and if we wanted to sit outside would have to wait. What is the point of a reservation? We were seated at 8:05 pm, ordered Paella - server came back and said they had run out. Then ordered seafood stew - server came back and yes, you guessed it, they had run out. Finally settled on Halibut that was good and in my mind should have been offered at the price of the Paella or stew - of course it wasn't. No apologies were given. Being made to wait and change orders twice - we wont be back"

  • "Was here for the first time a three course business dinner. Server politely informed us that they had a new line chef and they were unhappy w/ several items so they were unavailable. I had to go w/ my second choice, the veg. fettuccine. It was ok, but lukewarm at serving. Crème brûlée was also underwhelming. Sugar over caramelized and too burnt tasting. Not enough custard to take the edge off. Service was good and professional."

  • "I had requested an outside table when making the reservation. Apparently outside seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, we hit it at the wrong time and had to wait 65 minutes before we were seated. (Immediate seating was available indoors, but we wanted outdoors.) We passed the time in the bar, but were quite hungry by the time we were seated for dinner. Service was pleasant and efficient. Food was good but not great."

  • "A group of six women met here to celebrate the retirement of a long-time friend. We were seated at a corner table at the back of the patio right next to some beautiful greenery and a number of huge, gorgeous bird houses. As is generally the case with women and conversation, we took quite awhile to make our menu selections. The staff was attentive, checking periodically to see if we needed anything, but we never felt rushed. Our appetizers and salads were excellent. All of us agreed that it was a very special evening. Meriwether's is a personal favorite for each of us."

  • "From start to finish Meriwether's is a great restaurant. Friendly people both the staff as well as other diners and the food is truely outstanding. Great for a special occasion as it is not inexpensive but worth every penny."

  • "The quality of the food and staff are always well above average. The welcome is always warm. We have yet to be disappointed and we're pretty picky."

  • "My favorite place to dine on a summer evening. The menu is always interesting with wines to match. A calm oasis in the city."
    Dined on 8/16/2014
  • "Merriweather's is a charming place to eat unique and locally grown dishes. I first went here for a work event, and it has been a staple on our list of special occasion dining. The menu isn't cheap, but the food is worth it."

  • "We had an elderly relative visiting from out-of-town and took her to dine on the patio. She enjoyed the surroundings and food as much as we did. Our only issue was a very loud trio of young women having drinks at the next table. The Idaho trout was amazing. The 3 starters were all very good but the steelhead beignets were fantastic."
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "Always my go-to for outdoor dining. Lovely back patio/garden. Even works in less than perfect weather because of covered areas. Wonderful veggies out of their own garden and interesting menu choices."
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "Great choices on menu for happy hour. Wine by glass a bit spendy. Excellent service from hostess and bartender (we sat at the bar)."

  • "What can I say, every bit of the experience was great. Excellent food and fantastic service."

  • "Hmm. Dunno. Have been here a few times; the first couple of times everything was stellar: food, service, setting, etc. Used to be top notch. But this visit was disappointing. Despite having made reservations way in advance, & requesting a nice window table, hosts seated us at a noisy, inward-looking table next to the entry window in the bar ! We had ourselves (and our drinks) moved outside, which was nicer. But the server came to take our order almost immediately, & when we were not ready, she said she would return. That was 15+ minutes later. Most food was good, but Risotto mains were poor...watery, soft, bland. Server's wine suggestion was also flat-out awful. Eh, whole experience underwhelming. Not sure I would return."

  • "We brought out-of-town friends here for brunch and we all had a great time. It was the perfect taste of All Things Portland... great local food, friendly staff, and an eye-appealing, relaxing patio. Couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommended!"

  • "Our first visit to the Meriwether was memorable for all the right reasons. The food was not only fresh but the flavors and presentation could compete with any 1st class restaurant in Portland. I would recommend getting the 5 item Pantry Board as your appetizer in order to try the many seasonal flavors. We dine out frequently so to say our waiter and all the wait staff provided the best service we have encountered in many years, truly is a compliment. We went to Meriwether to celebrate a special occasion but we won't be waiting for another one to come along before we go back!"

  • "We had a delightful waiteress that made the special evening for 4 friends fun. Paella was bland; risotto presentation could have been better. It looked like a bowl of porridge. Lamb got a thumbs up review from my guest."

  • "We love this "best kept secret" in Portland Oregon. Actually learned of this restaurant while riding my bike past Skyline Farms which is owned by Meriwhether's. We have enjoyed brunch and recently celebrated our thirty-ninth wedding anniversary with dinner. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The fact that the restaurant has historical significance adds to the ambience. Loved the service and the food was delicious. We will definitely will return."

  • "We ordered the grilled octopus sliced...there were 4 of us so we ordered 3 and we very disappointed in the quantity. It was very good but barely enough to each have a taste. The wine selection was way overpriced. I don't know if I will be back. Service was great, I had requested an outdoor table and that didn't happen. So the experience was a bit disappointing. I tried for a 6:30 reservation and all they had was 6:45 and when we got there the dining room was all but empty. I just didn't get it."

  • "The small plates (appetizers) were fantastic. My seared scallops were to die for. My hubby's very expensive beef tenderloin was extremely tender but lacked any intense flavor (just so-so). Overall we'll def being back. Service was great too, even when they got busy."
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating his birthday at Meriwether's. The service was friendly and informed, the food was nicely presented, interesting and delicious, and the lush patio had a great vibe."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "This was the second time coming to this place and both times for lunch and this place did not disappoint. The people there are very friendly and helpful. The service was great and the food is well done."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "Three of us had a nice ladies lunch on a day when the outside patio was full, so we were seated inside. The good part of that was that it was quiet and we could have a nice conversation since the inside dining room was nearly empty. However, instead of seating us at a cozy window corner table they put us in a dark corner between two occupied tables. We asked to be moved. Our waiter was very solicitous but there was a real lag between ordering drinks and their appearance and an even bigger lag while we waited for our food. The two scallops on my scallop salad were nicely cooked (although for the price it would have seemed there might be three) but the standard baby greens were overdressed and a bit soggy."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "Not sure why a salad (for lunch) with only 2 scallops would be $18! All greens, a dollop of sauce, and 2 scallops! It was definitely over priced, but delicious. 3 or 4 scallops at least, would have been more acceptable for the price!"

  • "Meriwether's has long been one of our favorite Portland restaurants for its food and ambience. It is Portland comfortable-elegant. It's tops in quality and service. We've never had other than a great experience."
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • "Started out well here. Nice wine list, great salads. The entree was good, if a tad too rich with butter and cream. But as the meal went on, the waitress disappeared and we waited ages to get first our dessert and then our check. Still, there's nothing else this nice in the nw section of town near our hotel."

  • "We had Sunday Brunch here. It was a quiet day for the restaurant, the servers appeared young and not very professional. The food was OK, nothing special. After we left the restaurant, we saw a sign saying there was outdoor seating. It was a glorious sunny day - it would have been delightful to be asked if we wished to eat outdoors. The place was out of the way, nothing really to recommend making the effort to find it."

  • "We did not know that such a charming restaurant could exist in the alphabet district. A real gem/ lovely ambiance, food is delicious and a wonderful accommodating staff. It was a bit noisy in that we got the table in the back near the door to the kitchen. Would ask for a window table next time. Overall excellent!"

  • "This is a great place. The appetizers are great, the presentation is so nice. The cocktails were fun and delicious. The menu is small but there is definitely something for everyone. A little pricey but if it is a special occasion, it'll be worth it. The staff are wonderful too, we showed up 30 min before our reservations and they seated us right away."

  • "I had never dined at Meriwether's before and was so pleasantly surprised by the food, atmosphere, parking, ease of driving to it and the service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others! The food was amazing and a sweet special touch of a complimentary glass of champagne when they learned of our special location. All aspects of the service was wonderful - from the hostess, to our server, to the others who played a role in our wonderful experience. I plan to go back!"

  • "This was my third visit to Meriwether's and once again I was not disappointed. All of the food served was so fresh and very nicely presented."

  • "Food is fresh and excellent. Indoor atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant, and patio dining is stunning. Parking is free. It's a great place to meet up with friends or have an small lunch meeting with co-workers. The tomato soup is absolutely amazing, and that is saying a lot because I do not like tomato soup! Service is friendly and timely. It's a little spendy for my budget, but it's wonderful, so I splurge every so often. I will definitely return."

  • "Food was good, not great but a wonderful setting. Cerviche was not really cerviche but a version of just small shrimp. The crab risotto was delicious! . A person in our party specifically asked for a medium pork chop - pink in the middle. She sent it back and her recooked chop did not come until the rest of us had completely finished our meals. In defense of the restaurant, they gave her a free alcoholic drink and the four of us received small glasses of champagne at the end of the meal but we knew with them making that gesture she was going to be charged full price for her dinner. With the delay and poor service, she should not of been charged for her dinner at this type of restaurant in my opinion."

  • "We chose the restaurant because we knew they grow their own vegetables at their farm. We had out of town family here and wanted to show off Portland. We were all amazed with the service and food that came to the table. What a wonderful evening! Everything was excellent from the salad and appetizers to the dessert finale. I also loved my blood orange cosmo!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary at Meriwether and had a great time. The staff made us feel great and even brought us each a glass of champagne. My wife won though by choosing the diver scallops with pork belly. It was delicious."

  • "The food met the expectation from the previous reviews, very good. We had a seat in the garden area and it was delightful. The lamb was cook to perfection and my wife enjoyed the Paella. The only negative was that the cast metal seats were hard. The other seat is a concrete bench. A cushion would have made our time more enjoyable. This was an anniversary for us and we would return."
    Dined on 7/27/2014
  • "The patio dining was great - loved the atmosphere, ambience, flowers but the roof air conditioner noise was very detracting from the atmosphere. At times it was hard to hear a normal toned conversation"
    Dined on 7/27/2014
  • "We were seated immediately at our reservation time while other were still waiting. Sitting in the covered patin garden space next to water fountain was great. The service was exceptional as well as the freshly prepared food. Looking forward to having dinner there with friends."
