A word from Meriwether's Restaurant & Skyline Farm
One way to make sure you’re cooking with the freshest ingredients is to grow them yourself. Meriwether’s grows the produce it serves at its own Skyline Farm and is proud to be among only a handful of truly farm-to-table restaurants across the country. Chef Dolan Lane's menus are inspired by the Willamette Valley’s peak-of-the-season abundance, matching our harvest with some of the finest raw ingredients in the world, from the farmers, fishers and ranchers of the Pacific Northwest.

Inside, experience our warm and cozy ambiance with stone fireplaces, hardwood floors, stained glass and copper accents. Outside, guests dine year-round in the covered, heated & enclosed patio, gardens & gazebo. There is even an outdoor fire-pit, so perfect for a chilly Portland evening. Take a walk through our gorgeous all-season garden that surrounds the entire 2601 Vaughn Street historic building.

Incredible variety of vegetables that they grow in their own, nearby garden.. The scallop entree was outstanding. Wine was very good but on the expensive side, including by the glass.

Be sure to sit outside. Inside could be any restaurant in any town. Outside with the plants and old birdhouses was great. The food is fine but not all that special. People in my group said their brunch was good but did not have much flavor. If you are not a foodie, it will be a wonderful find. If you are a foodie, find someplace else to eat.

  • Not a steakhouse...

It was our anniversary so I splurged and went with the tenderloin steak over fingerling potatoes and kale. It was the most expensive entree on the menu and, sad to say, I left very disappointed. The steak was small and tough (hard to do with tenderloin!), the potatoes were undercooked and crunchy, and the Kale was a salty mess. I was expecting a lot more from Meriwether's after having some wonderful brunch experiences here. I'm bummed they disappointed this trip...

I love Meriwether's. We were under the canopy though, and noticed that the noise level is much lower out from under it. So next time, I would ask for that, weather permitting. Also there was someone really obnoxious who laid into his car horn for a remarkable length of time, repeatedly, in the parking lot adjacent to our seats, that evening. But I recognize that there are jerks everywhere, and somehow (probably thru good intervention on the part of the staff) the horn stopped.

When I pay top dollar for an entree, I expect more food on my plate than just the piece of meat. As my husband said, we just paid a lot of money to go home hungry. There should be more accompanying the entree. My filet was excellently prepared for the few pieces of purple potatoes accompanying it were undercooked and not very edible.

We had a memerable evening at Mariwether's. The food and service were outstanding. The ambiance was stunning. The only disappointment was when we were leaving the restaurant, we exited through the outdoor dining area and were sorry we we had not known about this area and were not offered the option to dine outside in this amazing space. It was a warm summer night and the chance to experience the outdoor option would have made for a perfect evening.

I purchased a gift card through Costco... love the concept. We went for our 26th Wedding Anniversary. Food was good. However, it was not worth the price on the menu. Not sure why it is so pricey. I had the signature beet salad as recommended by the server. To be honest, I make a better one at home. I didn't even see/taste the coconut that was given in the description. The outdoor seating was lovely! They have a great round table fire pit that would be great for a night of friends and apps. Service was outstanding.

While it's not cheap, the food is top quality and mostly local ingredients from the Meriwether farm. Loved the Blood Orange Cosmopolitans with Blood Orange vodka and Cranberry liqueur. The Pantry Board of multiple appetizers is a great idea. For entrees, we had the Bouillabaisse and Lamb Shortloins. Everything was great.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Meriwether's. From the stained glass, to the beautifully refurbished home, to the wonderful bird houses tucked among the gardens, there was a pleasant surprise at every turn. The food was fantastic and the drinks were very well made. I enjoyed the Gnocci and the stuffed figs. I am a person who rates ambiance as being about 40% of the dining experience and this was a beautiful place to enjoy excellent food.

After taking the trouble to go on line and make a reservation for an outdoor table at 7:30 pm (only time available as per the website), we waited 30 minutes for a table. We were told that the restaurant was "very busy" and if we wanted to sit outside would have to wait. What is the point of a reservation? We were seated at 8:05 pm, ordered Paella - server came back and said they had run out. Then ordered seafood stew - server came back and yes, you guessed it, they had run out. Finally settled on Halibut that was good and in my mind should have been offered at the price of the Paella or stew - of course it wasn't. No apologies were given. Being made to wait and change orders twice - we wont be back

Was here for the first time a three course business dinner. Server politely informed us that they had a new line chef and they were unhappy w/ several items so they were unavailable. I had to go w/ my second choice, the veg. fettuccine. It was ok, but lukewarm at serving. Crème brûlée was also underwhelming. Sugar over caramelized and too burnt tasting. Not enough custard to take the edge off. Service was good and professional.

I had requested an outside table when making the reservation. Apparently outside seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, we hit it at the wrong time and had to wait 65 minutes before we were seated. (Immediate seating was available indoors, but we wanted outdoors.) We passed the time in the bar, but were quite hungry by the time we were seated for dinner. Service was pleasant and efficient. Food was good but not great.

A group of six women met here to celebrate the retirement of a long-time friend. We were seated at a corner table at the back of the patio right next to some beautiful greenery and a number of huge, gorgeous bird houses. As is generally the case with women and conversation, we took quite awhile to make our menu selections. The staff was attentive, checking periodically to see if we needed anything, but we never felt rushed. Our appetizers and salads were excellent. All of us agreed that it was a very special evening. Meriwether's is a personal favorite for each of us.

We had an elderly relative visiting from out-of-town and took her to dine on the patio. She enjoyed the surroundings and food as much as we did. Our only issue was a very loud trio of young women having drinks at the next table. The Idaho trout was amazing. The 3 starters were all very good but the steelhead beignets were fantastic.

Hmm. Dunno. Have been here a few times; the first couple of times everything was stellar: food, service, setting, etc. Used to be top notch. But this visit was disappointing. Despite having made reservations way in advance, & requesting a nice window table, hosts seated us at a noisy, inward-looking table next to the entry window in the bar ! We had ourselves (and our drinks) moved outside, which was nicer. But the server came to take our order almost immediately, & when we were not ready, she said she would return. That was 15+ minutes later. Most food was good, but Risotto mains were poor...watery, soft, bland. Server's wine suggestion was also flat-out awful. Eh, whole experience underwhelming. Not sure I would return.

Our first visit to the Meriwether was memorable for all the right reasons. The food was not only fresh but the flavors and presentation could compete with any 1st class restaurant in Portland. I would recommend getting the 5 item Pantry Board as your appetizer in order to try the many seasonal flavors. We dine out frequently so to say our waiter and all the wait staff provided the best service we have encountered in many years, truly is a compliment. We went to Meriwether to celebrate a special occasion but we won't be waiting for another one to come along before we go back!

We love this "best kept secret" in Portland Oregon. Actually learned of this restaurant while riding my bike past Skyline Farms which is owned by Meriwhether's. We have enjoyed brunch and recently celebrated our thirty-ninth wedding anniversary with dinner. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The fact that the restaurant has historical significance adds to the ambience. Loved the service and the food was delicious. We will definitely will return.

We ordered the grilled octopus sliced...there were 4 of us so we ordered 3 and we very disappointed in the quantity. It was very good but barely enough to each have a taste. The wine selection was way overpriced. I don't know if I will be back. Service was great, I had requested an outdoor table and that didn't happen. So the experience was a bit disappointing. I tried for a 6:30 reservation and all they had was 6:45 and when we got there the dining room was all but empty. I just didn't get it.
