A word from Meriwether's Restaurant & Skyline Farm
One way to make sure you’re cooking with the freshest ingredients is to grow them yourself. Meriwether’s grows the produce it serves at its own Skyline Farm and is proud to be among only a handful of truly farm-to-table restaurants across the country. Chef Peter Kuhlman's menus are inspired by the Willamette Valley’s peak-of-the-season abundance, matching our harvest with some of the finest raw ingredients in the world, from the farmers, fishers and ranchers of the Pacific Northwest.

Inside, experience our warm and cozy ambiance with stone fireplaces, hardwood floors, stained glass and copper accents. Outside, guests dine year-round in the covered, heated & enclosed patio, gardens & gazebo. There is even an outdoor firepit, so perfect for a chilly Portland evening. Take a walk through our gorgeous all-season garden that surrounds the entire 2601 Vaughn Street historic building.

Diner Reviews
  • "We were there for brunch and had a nice experience. Only downfall was we preferred outdoor seating but we were told it was full. We had a reservation and I thought maybe we would have had priority for seating. We were seated near the patio and saw plenty of open tables out there. Our waitress was slow and didn't check in with us much. Other than that it was great!"

  • "We've been going to Meriwether's for years and this visit was as wonderful as expected! The garden patio was delightful. Our sausage omelet and veggie benedict were yummy as were the Margarita's and Mojito."

  • "We were entertaining family who currently live overseas, so they have had many unique dining experiences. They were charmed by the cozy ambience and style of Meriwether's. We all enjoyed the wonderful food. And the garden dining is absolutely the best in Portland!"

  • "Took my wife here for our nineteenth wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful evening. Very professional staff, beautiful garden, wish they could hide the vents and stacks on the kitchen portion of the building, but my eyes were on my bride anyhow. It's a great place to celebrate a special day."

  • "We've been to Meriwether's twice in the last six months or so and both times had a very nice experience - nice atmosphere, the food was excellent, and the service was professional. One minor issue: the focaccia bread seemed overly salty to our palates. We're not on a low sodium diet but do try to keep our salt consumption down a bit. I believe we also noticed this the last time we dined at Meriwether's. Overall though everything was great and we would definitely go back again."

  • "From reading the menu and restaurant website I expected to have superbly prepared fresh, local foods with impeccable flavors and seasonings. Although the leafy vegetables brought were likely local, it was not as well prepared as my food at home, and not very many local vegetables offered in dishes. The "wild salmon" was questionable. Everyone at the table commented on the blandness of the meals. We had to ask for salt/pepper. I expect to eat better than I eat at home when I go out. The waitress was friendly, no complaints there. All said, I won't go back. My dining out experiences have to be excellent to return."

  • "Meriwether's is one of our favorite restaurants, especially during the warmer months where al fresco dining in their beautiful garden is very special. Due to the rain, the garden was unavailable. Eating inside in the main dining room is also very special with a wood-burning fireplace and the room is very quiet so you can have very good conversation. All of our entrees were delicious, but it seemed more pricey than usual. A great halibut entree (catch of the day) was $36—but it was yummy. It was the perfect place to take visitors from S.C. We will return often."

  • "My daughter and son-in-law brought me to Meriwethers for my birthday and Mothers Day. We had such a wonderful experience, including my 2 granddaughters, that I bragged about it to my friends. We chose Meriwethers to celebrate a friend's 83rd birthday and were treated like we were special guests. Another friend purchased a dinner for 4 at a silent auction because I recognized the name on the bid sheet. So I'm going again tonight! Can't wait."

  • "Our dining evening was perfect, we sat in the garden. My aunt from Oklahoma was here so we thought Meriwethers would be perfect since she is from the farm. The Sturgeon was great, my aunt loved it. My husband and I had the pork and chicken dish both fixed to perfection. 3 desserts Creme Brûlée and the home made ice creams , ended the meal on a high note. Thank you to our servers they were wonderful."

  • "Meriwether's was an outstanding surprise. The service was kind and friendly but not too in your face. They had a good bar. Their back seating area is in a gorgeous garden that makes it feel quite and romantic. My particular meal I ordered was good not great but my wives was absolutely amazing tasting. So they have great food but some okay food as well. My server recommended a great tasting wine to go with my meal. Overall great experience I will be going back."

  • "Ideal place for your Sunday brunch. From taking reservations, easy parking, to very skillfully presented and greatly flavored brunch...all was perfect."

  • "Third time dining and we will not go back. Each time has had problems. The $114 cost did not match the food in quality or presentation. We had steak sent back three times, and still they could not get it Medium; the only options were extremely well done or raw. They offered a pretty dessert to apologies, however, they had not washed the Nasturiums and bugs crawled out over the dessert. the manager did not bother to come by at this point, and that bothered us more. The server was pleasant but that's all."

  • "Very good food but a little on the spendy side. Appetizer portions were tiny and expensive but the service was very good."

  • "Outstanding Patio dining. Lovely variety menu of fresh in season selections. Pleasant service. Enjoyed our salads, fresh fish entrée, and dessert. Will come again"

  • "We made a true believer out of our Father who has a difficult time branching out from his regular neighborhood gem. Laurel was outstanding, the food, ambiance...superb, and the overall experience...a 10++. Had been a couple years since our last visit, but definitely will be back soon...with Dad (as it's now high on his 2-do list)."

  • "Maybe it is best to avoid this place on heavy volume days like Fathers' or Mothers' day because they raise the prices and significantly lower the food quality from prepare-to-order to something else (read: not anywhere close to normal). It's a business that needs to make a profit, but this visit will make us think twice about returning. Sad, because it is still one of the best places for local color ambiance."

  • "My husband and I came here for Father's Day brunch after having received a gift card for our wedding anniversary. We were really impressed by the menu (it was fixed), and encouraged to come back when they are serving their full menu. The wait service was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable. We were served promptly and checked on appropriately. I had the sausage farmer's scramble and asked for the mushrooms to be removed, it wasn't a problem and my meal was delicious! I was really impressed with the potatoes, they were different and delicious! I loved sitting out on the patio. It was quiet and relaxing, a perfect morning atmosphere. I look forward to returning!"

  • "While the food and patio seating met our expectations, they did not outweigh the fact that the customer service experience was very poor. We arrived at 9:45 for a 10AM reservation (4 adults + 1 toddler). The host told us that our table was being prepared, and would be ready shortly. By 10:15, we still hadn't been seated. When we were escorted to our table, there was no high chair, and the table was only set for 3 people. Throughout the meal, we had to ask our sever for things that would be standard at most other restaurants of this reputation...glasses of water, mugs for tea, and silverware for all of the adults at the table to name a few things. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food, but I don't think I would recommend Meriwether's."

  • "Brunch on Father's Day....way too expensive and NOT at all worthwhile. Menu was basic breakfast -- who pays $30+ per person for breakfast when the food is mediocre? Service was ok...not outstanding. Outdoor dining is the only reason I would return but not for a fixed menu and fixed price. I brought out of town visitors...too bad they were from SF where dining is outstanding. They did not enjoy."

  • "Dinner was delicious and i received praise from my friends for finding our dining location (my second visit to Mariwether). I made reservations on line and hoped to be seated on the patio since our first visit was in the winter and I heard so much about the beautiful patio area. Unfortunately I received a message that it was booked for a wedding party. We will have to plan another time to dine so we can experience the patio - maybe for brunch!"

  • "I searched online for 45 minutes, looking for the perfect outdoor patio. The ambiance had to be just right, perfect service and a great dinner. After all it was a first date. Everything about Meriwesther exceeded my expectations. What an enchanting experience. I would recommend this place to anyone. I'll be returning soon for brunch this weekend."

  • "Good food but slow service. Garden area is beautiful unless you are seated in the fire pit area where it is not 'the siso beautiful."

  • "My friend chose the Meriwether restaurant to celebrate her 40th birthday, as we were in town from Vancouver, Canada. Positives: * the food was very good, well presented and flavourful * the platters were fun to share and we really enjoyed the crab deviled eggs Negatives: * the service was terrible, the servers were rude, slow and not helpful in offering alternatives and suggestions * we waited for 40+ minutes for our meals to be served * we had to ask twice for the AC to be turned down as there was an artic chill in our table area Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a celebratory event - we were very disappointed given the perceived quality of the restaurant and the price we paid."

  • "My halibut was not very good. It was dry and over cooked. For the price they charged, I was thoroughly disappointed. We also could not sit outside since there was a private party. We were not told this when we made our reservation."

  • "Nice, but not sure if we'd go again although the outside patio was lovely. Just not what we expected in that they advertise 'farm to table' from Skyline Farm; however, there were not many organic, fresh, not FRIED choices available. A little disappointing."

  • "Five of us went to for brunch on Saturday. I shared the beet salad and the greens & beans dish. Both were excellent and perfect for us to share. My husband had the chicken & waffles - boneless fried chicken, thick slab bacon - what more could you ask for? My mother-in-law had the quiche which looked like a pie shaped soufflé - airy, creamy, and eggy. We shared three desserts - cookies, cheesecake, and pineapple rum cake - all so good. I mean fresh out of the oven cookies? Oh my gosh. The cheesecake is poached/steamed so it is light as a cloud. We had a nice leisurely meal, with great service and wonderful food and drinks."

  • "The brunch menu is delicious. They served us the best Crab Benedict we've ever had. The drinks are also delicious - all made with freshly squeezed juice. Service is usually good, but be prepared for it to be a bit noisy at times. Brunch isn't terribly expensive, but you can definitely spend a pretty penny here. I also recommend making a reservation, otherwise your wait may be awhile . Overall everything was incredibly delicious, and well worth the price tag."

  • "The first two times we went to Meriwethers were fantastic!! Outside patio with blooming flowers everywhere, wonderful food. So, when friends from OK, were coming to Portland, that was the go to place. We spent most of the time talking about how great it was before. The weather was great, but there were more flowers near the parking lot. I had a Rueben sandwich, not as good as Rosie's. My mom's strawberry cream puff, on lemon curd was the best thing she had in 82 yrs. She refused to share, but it looked good. The server was attentive. Maybe 2:15 is a bad time to come. There are too many great restaurants in Portland. Sorry to say, next time we have out of state guests, we won't be taking them to Meriwethers. "

  • "I love this restaurant. Especially wonderful when the weather is nice and you can sit outside in their patio. The food is always fresh since they are known for their use of local produce from their farm. "

  • "We had a 12:45 lunch in a booth near the bar. The food was great and the service was good. We shared a delicious beet salad and I had an excellent roasted chicken sandwich which was so big it became both lunch and dinner. But the noise level was painful to me. It was extremely difficult to carry on a conversation. When the noise finally subsided at about 1:30, I felt a physical sense of relief like the ebbing of a headache. I may go back to try the patio, but I won't eat lunch inside again."
