A word from Meriwether's Restaurant & Skyline Farm
One way to make sure you’re cooking with the freshest ingredients is to grow them yourself. Meriwether’s grows the produce it serves at its own Skyline Farm and is proud to be among only a handful of truly farm-to-table restaurants across the country. Chef Peter Kuhlman's menus are inspired by the Willamette Valley’s peak-of-the-season abundance, matching our harvest with some of the finest raw ingredients in the world, from the farmers, fishers and ranchers of the Pacific Northwest.

Inside, experience our warm and cozy ambiance with stone fireplaces, hardwood floors, stained glass and copper accents. Outside, guests dine year-round in the covered, heated & enclosed patio, gardens & gazebo. There is even an outdoor firepit, so perfect for a chilly Portland evening. Take a walk through our gorgeous all-season garden that surrounds the entire 2601 Vaughn Street historic building.

Diner Reviews
  • "Easter is a time when families travel to meet and celebrate with Brunch together. My family did just that....each persons drive was a bit over an hour to meet at meriweathers for a great brunch on a gorgeous sunny day. We were excited but were soon disappointed. The price was very high for what was offered for entrees. They did not offer anything special for Easter...no salmon, ham, lamb, not a single dessert. It was basic brunch with an over baked lemon poppyseed muffin and an anemic bowl of fruit. The herbed potatoes were just big chunks of plain potato that were burned. Expectations were higher because it was meriweathers and we felt let down. It was almost 200 bucks for mediocre usual brunch fare for four people. Disappointing. "

  • "Good food with somewhat slow service. Helps to have a refined palate. A bit noisy but not overly so."

  • "Easter Brunch was wonderful. It started with fresh poppy seed muffins and fresh fruit followed by, in our case, delicious country sausage and egg scramble. The servers are always so pleasant and eager to please. Their hard work enhances the overall experience. We have never been disappointed in any meal we have enjoyed at Meriwether's. We look forward to eating there again."

  • "We were disappointed last Sunday. We have eaten there before, always dinner and found the food this time not exactly the same quality, in the sense that it felt like an ordinary breakfast and nothing special. It was Easter after all. I do not think we will do that again there."

  • "Had the opportunity to bring out of town friends. It was their first time. They were very pleased. Of course that made me feel good but not surprised. I look forward to the next time. "

  • "Good menu, good choices, quality food and outstanding service"

  • "We went to Meriweather's after an early Circ du Soleil show. We had been there before, so knew they had outstanding food, much of which they grow on their own farm. We were seated near the fireplace, with a lovely real wood fire blazing away. I am always a little cold, so I sat near the fire, while my husband sat farther from it. We enjoyed a wonderful Walla Walla wine with our meal. We were served by a very pleasant but efficient waitress, Amy. The Caesar salad we shared came promptly and was delicious. My tenderloin steak was sublime, and Mark really enjoyed his lamb. Meriweather's is always a great choice."

  • "We have found our new special restaurant in Portland and it is Meriweather's. Fish and vegetarian dishes were fabulous. Waiter explained the menu in educating, friendly manner. Save room for desserts."

  • "I was really disappointed in the lunch menu (very limited - not many choices for those not wanting to eat like a cow in the middle of the day). My companion ordered the pizza, which was so greasy you could hold it up and let the grease run off continuously - not sure if this was just an off day, but it was really gross. The service was great and they took it back and let us order something else, but it took a lot of time. I ordered an entrée salad which was a smaller portion than most restaurant's side salad size, and it was $14.00. I will come back for happy hour and brunch and even dinner, but not for lunch."

  • "We had brunch here on April 13. It was sunny so we chose to sit outside in the garden. The location was perfect, got to sit in the sun and enjoy a lovely Portland morning drinking mimosas and eating a very nice brunch. We had pretty traditional dishes eggs/bacon/potatoest (there are other more interesting options on the menu), but the food was perfectly cooked and there was plenty of it. As always, the service here tends to be on the slow side, but we were not in a hurry. This has now become our standard place to celebrate after a run (Race for the Roses). We will definitely go back!"

  • "Food was quite good, ambiance was lively and gardens and outdoor dining area with fire place were lovely. Our first time here with out of town company. We were not disappointed. Service was friendly, but a little slow, quite busy, but not overcrowded, We will return. :)"

  • "Brunch was excellent...the potatoes were the best I've ever had for breakfast. The service was attentive but not in your face. I want to go back when it's warmer and sit outside - the garden area is just beautiful."

  • "Meriwether's consistently remains one of our absolute favorite places to go for Sunday brunch. The food is always freshly prepared and so tantalizing and delicious. And the service is second to none. We're customers for life! : )"

  • "My boss and his wife wanted to take us out for a special brunch to congratulate us on our recent engagement. Could not have picked a better place! The ambiance was perfect, the table was beautiful, and service was fantastic! We work in the service industry so it's a pleasure to explore other fine dining establishments and feel that hospitality. Now, I'm considering our wedding rehearsal dinner in that garden next spring! Gorgeous!"

  • "From start to finish, our time was divine. The food was tasty, the service excellent. We had the crab risotto and the lamb shank for our main course, and both were spectacular. The lamb fell off the bone, and my husband raved about his dish all weekend long. We also tried the beet salad, as well as the steak bites, octopus, and the crab deviled eggs for an appetizer. Again, all dishes were artfully prepared and we will most certainly be returning soon."

  • "My wife and I (mid-60s) had date night at Meriwether's. This was a very enjoyable evening. We like the ability to pick several antipasto appetizers from a large list, to create a personal wooden platter to share. The halibut special was creative and well-prepared. The wine list has many reasonably-priced choices. We like the ambiance and service."

  • "We had the board with five selections that were wonderful as a starter. One had duck and the other had fish which was great. I had the pallea that was dry and lack spices. The seafood was the saving grace to this dish, even the sausage was without spice."

  • "service was average--not very prompt considering the restaurant was almost empty--yet the fireplace room in the winter and the outdoor eating area in the summer makes this one of our favorites--the parking lot makes it a plus over restaurants in the Pearl -"

  • "This is a wonderful west side dining place. Weekend brunch (the earlier the better) is a delightful experience. Do not try and get in without reservations on the weekend particularly in good weather. Good food and relaxed staff."

  • "Great food and ambience. You can actually carry on a conversation without shouting, and you don't feel like you're being hurried in and out. We will keep coming back!"

  • "The dinner was ok, appetizer was sparse for the price. service was excellent, servers were the best we've been around."

  • "I've tried to like this restaurant because the ambience is great, but at the end of the day I think the food is over-rated. The quiche I had the other day was so salty I could barely eat it. Over priced and pretty basic."

  • "While everything is very good, this place is definitely in the high-end in terms of prices... $8 for a cup of good, but certainly not spectacular soup?"

  • "Three wonderful small plates, great salad and two main course dishes that were outstanding. One glass of great wine and good service by a friendly, expert server. What could be better. We will be back."

  • "From the street, Meriwether's looks like a cottage in the countryside and I was happy to find out that the interior continues the same aesthetic. There is a cute patio in the back that is enclosed during the cooler months. I really like having another outdoor dining option where you don't have to deal with foot traffic while you're trying to enjoy food and company. Another high point was the attentive service, which you don't always find in outdoor seating. The dining month menu was well thought out with good sized portions. I enjoyed the citrus salad, but the pork was a bit dry and the dessert was flavored more subtly than I prefer. I'll be back for more ciabatta and olive oil, though, and look forward to trying more menu items."

  • "Whenever I can make it down to Portland, (I live across the bridge in WA), I like to spend a Saturday having brunch at Meriwether's. I have always been seated promptly when I have a reservation and the service is always excellent!"

  • "I don't know that I'll come back to Meriweathers again after the experience we had Sunday morning. My fiance's mimosa was full of expensive ice rather than juice and vodka. And we had to change seats in the garden under the sturdy pergola to try to get away from the extreme heat blasting from the massive heat lamp. My skin felt like it was on fire. Our kind waiter, confirmed with other diners that the heat was no longer necessary, turned it off. Unfortunately, the very pushy manager, who I'd witness berate an employee earlier, decided to crank the heat up again despite my plea not to, so that she could seat another table who didn't want to sit outside initially. As for the food, it was OK but the sausage was strangely unsalted and rubbery."

  • "Great food and lovely dinning areas, service was really slow, plan on a long meal because people forget you are there to eat. Refills and waiting for things asked for was kind of annoying. I think they need to hire more staff to serve their customers more efficiently."

  • "I really did not go with any expectations. This restaurant has been around for quite a while but I always passed it up for one of the up-and-coming places with a buzz. Finally, we made it to Meriwether's and everyone in our group was very pleased. Our table was tucked away and very private, the service was just right, and the food delicious, if not a bit rich. We will definitely go again."

  • "A group of friends and I went to Meriwethers. We arrived shortly before our reserved time, we're seated promptly and had a wonderful meal. Each course was better then the previous and a short time after each was delivered someone stopped by to make sure we were happy with our choice and the preparation. The wait staff and General Manager were terrific and never intrusive . It was our first visit and definitely not our last. We drive from Salem so it has to be great for us to return. We are anxiously anticipating a weekend drive to experience their biscuits and gravy for breakfast. The food was fresh and unique. The atmosphere was nice and the service fun, efficient and made our visit comfortable. What a wonderful fined!"

  • "Did not appreciate being asked to keep the knife and fork from the first course for the second course - for $100 you should get clean silverware for each course!"

  • "Outstanding experience starting with Mike at bar and continuing on through dinner with Simon as our waiter. Very pleased with Simon's expertise of the wines and recommendations of both food and wines. Mike and Simon were both very hospitable and friendly which added to our evening experience. This was our fist time at Meriweathers and it will not be our last."

  • "We had planned on the March dining experience but did not understand that there would be only 1 choice and that would be pork. Pork is not a meat we eat. Nor do a lot of other people. We ended up with two risotto dishes which were pretty mundane and in the case of the crab seemed a bit old. Salad was ok. Desert ok. Service was great."
