Meritage offers a nicely balanced atmosphere. More upscale than your typical neighborhood place but more comfortable than a fine dining restaurant. Similarly the menu has a nice range of prices - all well-prepared and good value. Bar scene is active, but the restaurant is not affected by the noise. The bar gives the place a liveliness that other restaurants lack.

Until the end of the meal the service was good, but at the end of the meal the waitress started to box leftovers before everyone was finished. We felt rush as we had 7 o'clock reservations and we were out before 8:30 pm. There wasn't anyone waiting in the lobby. I still tipped the girl 20%, so I am not complaining to justify not giving her a decent tip.

The food at this restaurant was pretty good, nothing fancy. We had the bolognese which was sweet but good as well as a rib eye steak with cajun seasonings which was really tasty! The place was dark and the atmosphere wasn't great....with so many fun and great restaurants in RI I don't think we'll return to this one.

  • The brunch was just okay.

The brunch was just okay. It wasn't anything special. Granted it was father's day, it would have been nice if there was a carving station or some representation of lunch. How about little sandwiches and or a pasta dish. Chicken or fish would have been nice. It was a breakfast buffet. There were eggs and the typical ham,sausage,bacon...little waffle pieces but nothing else. Really need to expand it a bit. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The service wasn't good. Visit some other brunches to see what could be improved. Also there wasn't any dessert station. Dissapointed. Check 1149 or Nicole's. Also the coast guard house.

Very fun environment! I am a vegetariarn and sometimes that is a problem in some restaurants, but, not at Meritage there are a bunch of selections to choose from! The sushi is also a "different" twist to the menu. The service is always great, attentive, but not overbearing. I enjoyed all of my food selections! Check it out!!!

Three people in our party of five did not enjoy their meal. The person who ordered the meatloaf said it was just okay; he did not finish it. I had the bruschetta as a meal (without the cheese). The bruschetta was VERY dry. I don't think there was any olive oil on the bread. It was two thinly sliced pieces of dry Italian bread with two thin slices of tomato on top. Another person had the portabella "burger" and did not even eat half of it. The two people who did enjoy their meal had a pasta dish with seafood and they said it was very good. I haven't been to Miratage in years. This experience will certainly keep me away for many more. The restaurant was very busy, so I assume it's a hot spot and enjoyed by many.

We had a great time at Meritage, my boyfriend and I both said we had to go there more often and make it our new "place" for an appetizer and dessert. Dinner was great too, but the antipasto was so huge, no reason for dinner after it. Beautiful inside, the lighting was perfect and so was the food.

We found the food to be of exceptional quality this past Saturday night. We had not been to this restaurant in about 1 year and a half, and the meal we had back then left a lot to be desired, which is why we didn't return. I was gifted a Restaurant Certificate from work, which is why we chose this venue again. We were overwhelmed by the food, service, and the restaurant overall. We had an appetizer, a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, the two specials (the Filet Mignon and the Cajun Cod), as well as a dessert each. All was wonderful. The wait staff was very attentive and thorough. Thanks for the very nice Saturday Night Dinner Experience. The restaurant was packed, so we were not the only ones enjoying the experience of the night out.

I liked Meritage and I give them a good rating. The food was good and reasonably priced. The wine choices were adequate and again reasonably priced. But, I must admit that I expected a much more extensive wine list given the name of the restaurant. I also expected there to be more wines by the glass or possibly even wine flights, but alas. My husband's dish of ravioli was cold in the center. When we brought this to the staff's attention, it was promptly taken care of and both the waitress and the manager came by to apologize and make sure everything was satisfactory. I suggest not to be seated in the room located at the front of the restaurant just past the bar. It was very noisy back there.

Ordered the Super Zuppa for an appetizer. Could they have spared the clams/mussels? About 6 of each (small). Wife ordered Scallops for dinner, only came with 6 Scallops. I am usually not one to complain, nor to we eat alot.. but c'mon. We used to be big fans of this and Chardonnays, but after this last experience, I think we'll try somewhere else.

Service was a bit slow, but the food was tasty and the menu had a little of everything. They had both a regular and a martini bar. The martini bar was cozy and quiet. We took an un-cooked pizza home with us and cooked it the following night... excellent thin crust pizza! I can defnitely see coming here again and hoping for better service.

A great choice for Valentine's Day, albeit a bit on the dark side! Some in our party had a hard time reading the menu! Lots of choice in food here, though. Something for everyone. Calamari appetizer was delicious. Our group dined on scallops, tuna steak, pork, and mussels and everyone was quite happy with their meals. Creme Brulee and Banana Creme Pie finished off the meal. Menu said the bananas in the pie would be flambed table-side, but this proved not to be true. All in all, we were happy, though, with our choice of restaurant.

Great selection of draft beer, generous cocktails and nice wine list. Large antipasto ordered but no bread provided until we flagged down the waitress and asked for it. Roasted garlic cloves in the antipasto, bread is a nice addition. Asked waitress for water and it finally came upon second request when coffee was served at the end of the meal. Please!!! make food servers make 2 trips to the kitchen when trying to carry 4 large dinner plates My dinner had slid to one side of dinner plate because it was held up against his shirt. When paying $20 avg dinner price, your dinner plate should never look like that. Salmon with orange ginger sauce delicious as well as the chicken gorgonzola dinner

The food was very good. Some appetizers seemed a bit overpriced. ($10.50 for a plate of nachos to be specific.) The waitress was very attentive during the drink and meal ordering. However, once we were finished with our meal it took nearly 15 minutes for our waitress to show up and ask us if we needed anythign else. The bar was packed so maybe she was busy elsewhere, we were seated by the fireplace. Overall our food was good and we enjoyed our visit.

Meritage is one of my favorite restaurants and although the service was a little slower than usual this night, the food, atmosphere and service are still always top notch. my husband thoroughly enjoyed the broccoli, chicken and penne dish while I enjoyed the shrimp scampi which was a tasty as I remembered. The only complaint as far as quality was the cappucino was only lukewarm. But over all this is a place I would highly recommend.

This is probably the 5th or 6th time we have been to Meritage and we find the food and ambiance to be quite enjoyable.Only once did we find the service to be poor. I would like to suggest a few things: 1. Have more daily specials..perhaps one in each food catagory..ie fish, meat, vegetables. 2.offer some "early bird specials"..perhaps week nights only...say 4-7pm where people can enjoy the restaurant and the cusine at a reduced cost.
