We have eaten at Meritage many times, it is one of our 2 or 3 Boston favorites, and this was another outstanding dinner. It was our anniversary, and we were greeted with complimentary champagne. Service from Jean and his colleagues was top-notch. The food was terrific, complemented by well-chosen wine flights. What can we say? We love it here!

I finally found a restaurant that matched it's on-line reviews! It was a fabulous experience. We were seated almost immediately and had window view, as requested. Our waiter allowed us the time to chat and he never made us feel rushed. He was excellent! The staff was very attentive . The food is best described by my friend, who rarely stops working long enough for a meal. She wrote ; "Excellent food. So much so that the experience would have been fully satiating with family-style portions". She ate every crumb in front of her and every one on my plates as well! Given the extra time, she would have ordered another meal. Yea, it was that good! Meritage is a true gem!

Food was excellent, myself and my girlfriend had crabcakes and striped sea bass for starters and shared it, was fantastic, if I had to choose I would go for the striped sea bass again. We had braised short rib and Kobe steak for mains and shared again, the braised short rib had huge flavor and meted like butter. The Kobe was fantastic but paled in comparison to the short ribs huge flavors.

This was my pick for my Birthday dinner. Even though it was a rainy evening the view was lovely. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar downstairs. It was very cozy and they made an excellent martini. In both the bar and the restaurant the service was impeccable without being stuffy. In the restaurant our waiter was pleasant, accommodating and knowledgeable. The food was so good I'm still thinking about it. It was fresh, perfectly prepared and artfully presented. The wine list was extensive and there were many expensive bottles but we were able to get a good bottle at a moderate price. All in all a wonderful venue for a special occasion.

If you're looking for a good place to sit and overlook the harbor, Meritage is a good option. The service was outstanding and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine pairings. In terms of ambiance, I would say that this was not a place that had a lot of energy. It was a slow night, albeit dinner was early. I would recommend this as a place to bring those who are visiting Boston or looking for more high end dining as a tourist or large group.

We had a fantastic meal and experience at Meritage. The food was excellent in taste and in presentation. Each item was an art piece. And the service was exceptionally good. Our server Elisa, was knowledgeable, very friendly (but not too chatty), and had perfect timing. Everything came as it should and thus allowed to enjoy each bite. Meritage is a hidden gem.

We enjoyed the view, the ambiance, the fine service and the food. We were a foursome and had a very enjoyable evening. One of the benefits of this restaurant was the free 4 hour parking. We arrived at 4:30 for our 6:00 ressie and took a very enjoyable walk around the waterfront. However after dinner when we were leaving the parking garage around 8:00pm, we were informed we had to pay full price for parking as we arrived before 5:00 pm. We never read this stipulation any where, so it certainly put a damper on our evening.

Three of us took advantage of Dine Out Boston. There were limited choices (2 per course plus a vegetarian choice) but those choices were delicious. We usually each order something different and then share but it didn't really matter as everything was so good. I had a taste of their steak and they had a taste of my fish. The chocolate dessert was to die for - almost like a solid chocolate mousse log - very rich. Two of us had the wine pairings for an extra $20 which was a good deal. I would say the best part of the meal was the presentation, but quality, service, and ambiance were also excellent.

From the moment we walked in we felt like unwanted guests at a dinner party. We felt like we were given the cold shoulder all night. Server plopped plates at our table never came back to ask how we were. Were never offered coffee or tea until after dessert was eaten and cleared from table. Food was good but we would never return given how we were treated. This restaurant was highly recommended by friends, we were highly disappointed.

Wait staff is attentive without being omni present. The food is everything you would expect of a restaurant of that caliber. Although it is expensive, I truly enjoy my visits and wish I could visit every week.

My husband and I tried the Meritage for the first time during restaurant week. We had heard outstanding reviews for sometime, but never tried it until I was reminded by this event; and we are so glad we finally went! This restaurant is located on the second floor of the Boston Harbor Hotel and the windows overlook their gazebo and dock. The view was beautiful at sunset. The service was absolutely outstanding; our server helped us select a wine that complemented our meal well and was very professional and attentive throughout. The dishes were all perfectly prepared with well balanced flavor. We enjoyed our experience very much and will definitely return!

I took my girlfriend to Meritage for her birthday after doing a sunset cruise around the harbor. The outdoor restaurant downstairs (I believe the Sea Grille?) was packed with a live blues band playing music. Meritage was upstairs with windows overlooking the harbor and the band, however the building was quiet with a great atmosphere for a special occasion. The cod and halibut were wonderful and the wine list was great with some reasonably priced bottles. The service was outstanding and they brought out a complimentary desert plate for my girlfriend's birthday with the "chocolate" desert we selected. Overall great experience, we'll definitely be back.

Meritage is a great restaurant. The food was incredible and it was a neat touch to have the menu organized by wine instead of appetizer/entree. The view is spectacular, specially on a clear day when the sun in setting (you can't really see the sunset, but you still see the changing color reflections on water). Everything else was so close to perfection, that it was a pity that the service (at least for the night we visited) was rather slow. This was our first time at Meritage, so I am not sure if it was just an off night or not. Even with that, we really enjoyed the dinner at Meritage and we hope to be able to visit again soon.

My wife and celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary at Meritage. It was our first visit to this restaurant. We were treated like VIPs, enjoyed the great view from this 2nd floor restaurant in the Boston Harbor Hotel, and had some of the best food we have had anywhere in the world. They do a nice job of pairing wine offerings with the food and each and every part of the meal seems to have great care in its preparation and presentation. Even the complimentary bread was great. I have been to places that cost $20 for a meal for two and felt ripped off - but this restaurant, though expensive, is a great value.

My wife and I went to Meritage to celebrate her Birthday. The food was really good but portions are small. Prices were good but not a great value because of portion size. Our server was nice but not super attentive. We finished our meal and dessert when he brought us the remainder of our wine that was left in the bottle. Having the wine bucket closer would have avoided this problem. Seemed like a rookie mistake. Overall great food with a nice view of the active waterfront.

Although there were few customers for brunch in this second floor dining room with a view of Boston Harbor, that did not mean an inferior restaurant. Quite the contrary! The $35 prix fixe menu offered many choices - we two tried: perfect Malpeque oysters, delicious gazpacho; followed by juicy medium rare steak and just right scrambled eggs, and a small casserole filled with tender lobster in a winy sauce with garnish of fresh peas and red peppers; dessert: two bites of key lime with raspberries; or a smooth panna cotta - all wonderfully tasty and sized just right. Wines (chablis and burgundy) were a perfect extra. Service outstanding; knowledgeable, available but not intrusive. We would eat there every weekend if we lived nearby!
