    Tuesday through Friday evening in Meritage, from 5:30-7:00pm, Wine Director Nicholas Daddona will introduce three to four wines from selected regions and Chef Bruce will prepare tasting spoons or small bites to pair perfectly with each wine offering.

A word from Meritage - The Restaurant
Meritage turns on its head the normal routine of pairing wine with food. Instead of starting with a plate and asking: "What wine will pair?", we start with an exciting wine and ask: "What food will pair?" We think you will agree that this is the path to culinary enlightenment.

Led by Chef Daniel Bruce – founder and captain of the Boston Wine Festival - and Manager and Wine Director Nicholas Daddona, Meritage offers a diverse menu of wine-friendly food that showcases New England’s changing seasons.

  • "I've written about this restaurant before. As usual, the food was spectacular as was the entire experience. For this restaurant, this is now a standard expectation for me having been there nearly a dozen times. What surprised me this time is this was the first time I brought my son. He recently turned 3 years old. I did not know they had a kids menu but they do! The food for my son was great (he got the pizza...the crust was grilled...it was really good and he loved it). When he first got his orange juice, he accidentally spilled some on himself and the tablecloth. The server was so kind to him, cleaned up the table AND his hands. Made him feel better and saved the evening - well above and beyond my expectations. Wonderful."

  • "Several friends enjoyed another scruptious meal at Meritage! For the first time (in many dinners here) I found the service only acceptable--not the usual crisp, attentive experience I have always appreciated. It was a busy night, but the wait for courses was longer than usual and, when plates were delivered the ever changing waitstaff was not aware of who ordered what plate. It seemed so busy that the Sommelier was delivering meals to diners---certainly an acknowledged sign of need to step up service and much appreciated! As always, the dining experience was very enjoyable overall and, as always, the food was exquisitely prepared. Just a small glitch in the usual spot on service. Plan to return soon!"

  • "Great for date night. If you like sancerre with your salad, chardonnay with your chicken and meritage with your mignon, this is the place for you. The small plate option lets you create your own tasting menu and the wines by the glass menu is big enough for satisfying pairings. My only complaint was the service timings were off--the new wine should be poured just before the next course comes out. I will be going back again with some foody friends"

  • "I took my hubby to this spot to celebrate his birthday and the staff was absolutely friendly. The meal was delicious. The menu was set-up in such a way that one could pair meals with wines, and that was pretty cool. Also, if you weren't sure, the staff would gladly bring samples. The waiter who waited on us was knowledgable when it came to wine. Also, my hubby had a gluten sensitivity and he thought the meal was delicious. Honestly, this is an amazing place to eat!"

  • "If you want a night out with a special someone, this is a place to impress. We made reservation at 8pm and arrived early so end up having a drink at the bar. At 8pm, we got our table next to the window so we saw the boston harbor which is definitely a plus. The staff was friendly and polite. Parking was easy since they provided complimentary parking at the boston harbor hotel. Food was delicious."

  • "Food was good, view lovely. I asked for a sommelier, but our server said he could help. He basically pointed to a few wines in my price range without much explanation. I noticed the year of the wine that arrived was not the same as on the wine list. I questioned this and the server was taken aback. He disappeared then came back and said they did not have that year. Since I was not familiar with this wine I asked how it differed from the one on the list. He said it's only a year apart so it should be the same. I felt he treated me like a fool. For the caliber of restaurant and expensive wine list, Meritage should have a sommelier. I think it's dishonest to advertise one wine and substitute another without telling the guest."

  • "Meritage is a perennial favorite of mine, scratching a necessary itch for good wine in a lovely atmosphere. We arrived about 10 minutes early to our 6.30 reservation and were seated after a brief wait by the window, overlooking the small port by the Boston Harbor Hotel - definitely try to arrive early and get seated there. I decided to try the Chef's Tasting Menu for a change and was blown away by the depth of flavors - our first course of diver scallops was divine, perfectly cooked and with well balanced flavors. Our beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly and was well sized for a tasting flight, and our dessert was also delightful. The cheese course, while less adventurous than I expected, was well-paired and tasty. Overall: Fantastic!"

  • "Stumbled onto this as we had to make a last minute change in reservation and many restaurants were already booked up. The atmosphere here is wonderful. The menu is based on the Boston wine festival. The feel is very upscale however not off putting. A great place if your a first time foodie. The second course took a little longer than it should have but the staff communicated very well with us and it didn't change our opinion if the service."

  • "I've never been to Mertiage and my husband and were celebrating a special occasion. We love the bar the Boston Harbor Hotel and said why not give the restaurant a try. Lovely surprise. The food was amazing and I like that you can order small plates so you can taste many things or you could share. I would come back it would be nice to come in the summer and see the sunset over Boston harbor."

  • "Our family group of eight, aged 12 to 73, loved every morsel. Loved the portion sizes. I was happy with 2 small while the gentlemen all had a small and one large. Then, then we could have desert. The menu had great choices. My fois gras was excellent. The 12 yr old had 2 salmon servings because it was so good. short ribs, duck, scallops, filet, halibut, veal were all excellent. We like to eat European style and not be rushed and we were delighted to be able our family reunion time in gentle ambiance. The staff was extremely attentive, yet not overbearing."

Food is always, always great. The wait staff is excellent, (we love our waiter Francis), and ambience and view are spectacular . We would give this restaurant 100 stars if possible."
