"Wonderful place for a special night out. We've been at least a half-dozen times, and are never disappointed. Francis, our usual waiter, is a wonderful addition to the night. We love the choice of "large" or "small" portions, flat-rate prices and lots of choices. The sauces are superb."

"Surprised it was pretty ordinary. Portions too large with silly plate accessorizing...i.e. ribbons of a white sauce on top of steak. I had much higher expections for the Boston harbor Hotel."

"Although it's labeled as "American food" you can find here not the usual and hackneyed dishes belonging all American Menus (steak&frites, burguers, pasta, Caesar's salad...). Instead, discover here less known species: pheasant, venison, duck, ostrich... even bloc de foie gras, a very common in Europe specialty that here in the States seems it's forbidden!... Besides, the price is not beyond expected: asking for three little dishes is enough, as each little dish is bigger than any of the entrees in such "classy" French places like Clio or Number 9 (both of them a hoax), and half the price!! Only one important defect prevents me from qualifying "Meritage as a Very Good restaurant: the chef's bad habit of not putting salt in the recipe!!"

"Food was nothing special. It was nice to be able to look out over the harbor. Service was mediocre, wasn't able to offer a good understanding of the dishes, it was difficult to understand the server. Bartender was very pleasant and sweet. The drink options and liquor selection was poor and outdated, wine list was impressive but didn't offer a good value to the customer. The trio of desserts seemed previously frozen. One of my desserts was still frozen in the middle, felt like the mini desserts you can buy in the freezer isle at the grocery store. Lastly the ambiance seemed a little old, was probably nicer 20 years ago. The silverware was very light and cafeteria style. Overall the place seemed well past it's prime."

"Food: my scallops were overcooked. It went to worse when my medium fillet mignon came out rare, not bleeding rare but if I tried to cut the meat, I'd need a butcher knife. I've always liked coming here for the fillet mignon but I left disappointed since my guest and I had a rare when asked for medium well. But kind enough to make another one but One came out rare, the other well done, we didn't bother to send it back. Dessert was better, the chocolate and citrus tasting, we both finished 2/3 the mini desserts, 1 piece leftover because we didn't like it but it was well made. Service was okay with the recooking but our water was never refilled and slightly ignored when we signaled so we could tell our server about our rare entree."

"I've been to Meritage a few times now, and I've never been disappointed. Their food is absolutely delicious, and the service is impeccable. I highly recommend it!"
