A word from Mercy Wine Bar
Our major focus is on wine, so the food at Mercy is smaller portions and meant to compliment the wine. Food and wine pairing is a key focus for us. Wines and food can taste very different when paired in different combinations. Our food is served in smaller portions called "Plates." We encourage you to try several different items and pair them with different wines. Many items are meant to be shared and passed around, more family style. The dining experience is much more European, where you try a few things in smaller portions with different wines. We'd be more than happy to help you through the selection process.Continued

  • "First time trying mercy out and had a great experience. Definitely will be back with my girls."

  • "The service was great. They have a great wine selection and offered a great recommendation for our taste. The food was mostly awesome. Anything truffle infused just makes me salivate. The only problem I think Mercy Wine bar has is the lack of cuts of steak. I know it is not a steakhouse, but mhaving only filet is a travesty."

  • "This place has some really nice wines and beers. The food was very tasty just not as good as I expected."

  • "I brought 2 friends there Friday evening as my guests and I will NEVER go back. Sound level was horrid!! Waiter was screaming while trying to describe the specials. We moved from the east to the west side of the place which helped a bit. For a WINE bar, I found it shockingly disappointing that they were out of not one, but two bottles of wine that we tried to order. This was a mistake to go to Mercy Wine Bar. I will not repeat this mistake! Nor will my guests!!"

  • "Enjoyed the live music ... awesome duo. Love the ambience, good set-up for romantic couples. i little bit frustrated with the request on reservation because it wasn't met."

  • "The menu is small and doesn't really make sense for dinner, but if you want a little food to go along with a nice glass (or bottle) of wine, try it out. Go early for happy hour - great prices."

  • "My husband and I came here for our anniversary. We enjoyed splitting appetizers and trying different wines. It was a really charming spot. We will definitely come back for another special night out."

  • "This was my first time to have dinner at Mercy. Previous visits were for appetizers so we weren't sure what to expect with dinner entrees. It was delicious!! I had the tuna and my husband had a pasta dish with chicken. Both were excellent! Service was attentive but not intrusive. It was a very enjoyable evening out!"

  • "My friend and I wanted to treat ourselves to a really good dinner. Mercy was recommended by a former Addison resident. It was exactly what we were looking for! Our server was fantastic and was able to describe many of the abundant wines. We ordered the cheese plate and pate for appetizers. The lighter, creamier pate was to die for. The darker pate was awful (the only negative part of our experience). We told our server of our distaste of the darker pate and more of the other variety was brought to us without having to ask for it. Dinner was fantastic. As we were finished eating and enjoying our 2nd bottle of wine, a jazz band started and was at the perfect volume to listen to them and still be able to hear each other. A 5 star in my book!"

  • "Had an early reservation with friends after visiting the area spa. Service was great - he offered plenty of great suggestions! We all went out to purchase Earthquake after our meal. Great cheese options. Food is so good. Perfectly paired with our wine."

  • "Didnt match up to the expectations. Staff was friendly but lacking in professionalism. The menu was fair but not exceptional. The wait staff attemted to put my silverware from the apetizer back on the table and i had to ask for fresh plates. Clearing the table was slow. Not terrible but not great."

  • "Vincent, the door manager, was very friendly and accommodating to our special requests even though it was busy, Valentine's Day weekend. I look forward to going back to try out the patio. Great champagne and tasty food."

  • "Great place - great food - great service! One of my all time favorites!"

  • "This was my first visit to Mercy and it won't be my last. Quite unique and sexy atmosphere with live light jazz serving as background music. The musicians didn't seem to mind patrons murmuring over the music. Love their sense of security in that...The wine list was surprisingly well represented and affordable. This is a perfect place for romantic eye contact and if you're hungry for food that was pretty decent too."

  • "Great wine bar in Addison. Great service. Great wine list. Will go again."

  • "Our group expected great wine at Mercy, but the service, ambiance, live music, and the food were just as good!"
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "We had never been here before, and knew it was somewhere we would enjoy with all the wines, and small plates. So we gave it a whirl! First impression, it was very loud...but we asked to be in a corner away from the music (a wonderful little jazz band, unbeknownst to us) was going to play. That helped quite a bit, we felt hidden away from the larger section of the dining room. Our food server, Rachel, was of great assistance. We couldn't decide, so she asked what type of wine did we want, so we proceeded from there, designing our whole meal around the wine we wanted. After that it was easy, cheese tray, salads, and risotto, all fabulous. Except not enough room for dessert? Thanks for a wonderful evening."

  • "I went with 5 other friends....NONE of us enjoyed our entrees. The apps are ok. JUST ok. The wine is fine. We won't be back"

  • "The service, food and wine were great. My only complain was: I was to far from the stage. I was there for the music and I got a table were I could not even see the stage it was like a closed room and the worst, people sitting in that area were there for dinner so the more Loud the music more loud they spoke so I could not enjoy the music."

  • "My husband and I celebrated my birthday at Mercy Wine Bar and it was a perfect evening! The wine was excellent and the food was just what I wanted. We sat upstairs and enjoyed it immensely. We'll definitely be back soon!"

  • "Mercy has become my absolute favorite winery. This place has a vast wine selection, the food is divine, the staff rocks and the atmosphere is always upbeat! Best winery in the city!!! I love this place!!!"

  • "I took a date here and we sat on the couch which provided that much needed relaxation and put both of us at ease while sipping on their wine. Food came out absolutely delicious and for the price you cannot beat it. Highly recommended for a romantic time."

  • "First, I'm sad to give this place a bad review. We've had some nice visits here in the past. First, we asked to be seated away from the door and in a quieter spot. We were seated next to the door to the patio and in a spot that funnels all the noise. Second, and this has NEVER happened to us! we were asked to leave when we had finished our meal and checked out because they needed our table for a reservation. We had only been there for 2 hours. This is probably common, but we hadn't seen our friends in quite some time and we're enjoying an evening of catching up. Again, we've never experienced this personally. Unfortunately, Mercy Wine Bar was the first time. We probably will not be back."

  • "Great wine selection, plus you can take bottles home for retail price, which is a 45% discount of the menu. Can be noisy if you are seated by the wall though."
    Dined on 1/10/2014
  • "Have been to Mercy before for late night cheese board and wine, which they are very good at. Our dinner 2 nights ago was terrible. Our salads with "melted goat cheese" had cold breaded and deep fried pieces of goat cheese, and the greens were tossed only in olive oil, NO vinegar or lemon juice. "Scallops with tomato compote" came fried in a gummy batter. Who does that to scallops? I guess you do that when you have bad scallops."

  • "I loved the overall concept and ambience, but I found the wine selection to be somewhat limited and way overpriced by the glass. Tried their fish entre of the day, a Halibut, which was very nice, but at $25 without anything else like a vegetable, a bit pricier than it needed to be. The waitress, while attentive, lacked personality and knowledge about the wines available. It seemed the focus was on steering one toward the higher priced items on the menu. A Tapa's type food sampling would of been nice to go with their wine selection. It appears this is a fun location for group gatherings."

  • "The dishes we tried were very good. But the prices are high, particularly because entres do not come with any sides. Wine during happy hour is reasonably priced."

  • "Mercy wine bar is exactly everything I was looking for to enjoy a sophisticated evening on the town. I've been twice within one week! The servers are experts of their wines, very friendly and truly allow you to "enjoy" your evening without making you feel rushed. Make sure to catch the live Brazilian jazz music too!"
    Dined on 11/21/2013
  • "I've been here many times and love all the different dishes I've ordered. The service at times has been fair to pretty good, never great, but by far my last visit was the worst. Had to go look for the server twice, once to order another glass of wine and the second time when we were ready to leave and needed our bill. Very disappointingand definitely made the evening less enjoyable than it could have been!!"

  • "Food was tasty, wine was delicious, service was ridiculously slow."

  • "Their service was excellent and they were very accommodating. The food and wine was great. They have a huge wine selection so they is something for everyone."

  • "This was my first time dining at Mercy and I absolutely loved it! I had been before but just for wine. The service was awesome and the food was delicious. I loved the ambience of the restaurant and it is in a great location. My friends, boyfriend and I will be back again soon!"

  • "If you want a comfortable, informal yet stylish place to lounge about with a good bottle of wine and people-watch, with a noise level that still allows for intimate conversation, you could not do better than Mercy Wine Bar. The staff took great care of us in every detail including excellent wine suggestions, timely unrushed food service and and attentive but not intrusive presence. The layout of the place shows careful attention to acoustics as the large open space is carefully broken up into little niches and alcoves that permitted conversation at ordinary voice levels but still allowed clear lines of sight to the stage where a really nice ensemble was playing. All in all as fine a night out as one could want."
    Dined on 10/17/2013
  • "It is a good place, but the seating in the band area is not practical. It was bought more for looks than for use. They should change this."
    Dined on 10/18/2013
  • "I cannot say enough good things about Mercy. If you have a bit of free time and the weather is nice, head over to Mercy and sit outside. You can enjoy an amazing selection of wines, lovely food and be entertained by every genius in Addison trying to navigate the pretty roundabout. You will not be sorry."

  • "I'm a vegetarian and did not find their main entree selection to be that accommodating. The fish was "farm raised", which is not good, so their fish selection was not an option."
    Dined on 9/8/2013
  • "We enjoyed the live music although it did make conversation difficult. The food was very good----great variety----and of course the wine! The selection was interesting and comprehensive plus the server was very knowledgeable. However, service was VERY slow.....perhaps they were understaffed although the server didn't say that was the problem. She actually just seemed to like to spend a looooong time at other tables."
