Mercer KitchenAmazingLove the lobster, the service, the restaurant, so cool and can't wait to go back!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food/okay servicefood was as good as it's always been. i was a bit disappointed to be offered a table next to the serving station after having made a reservation well in advance. the other table option was the first table at the bottom of the stairs where people come in, directly across from the hostess station, equally as disappointing in such a large restaurant.
our waitress was quite nice, our food was as good as it has always been (been eating here since it opened 15 years ago) though the heavy handed removal of plates prior to them actually being finished was a bit annoying and rushed, and the reaching across to serve bread, etc. and removal of almost empty plates, was a bit annoying and disruptive to our dinner and conversation.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat RestaurantI would absolutely recomment Mercer Kitchen to anyone. It is a beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance. All of the food was great, and our waiter was always around when we needed him. I went with a large group (12 people) for my birthday and they promptly seated us. We sat right next to the kitchen and I loved how you could see into it. The only thing I wish they had done differently would have been to not charge us for my birthday dessert which they brought out. Most restaurants do not do that and we spent enough money that it should have been free of charge. But other than that it was great!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service! Food wasExcellent service! Food was delicious and service was great!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great Jean-Georges spaceWe celebrated our 15yr wedding anniversary here. The food, drinks, service, and ambiance were all perfect even with the huge thunderstorm outside. We will surely go back again.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMJust rightWe had 3 kids under 6 years old and they were very accommodating. They told us to wait so that they could set up the table where there was less traffic and not the quietest spot in the restaurant, so we didn't disturb other customers. The food was fresh and very flavorful. My mother had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHad dinner there and everythingHad dinner there and everything was really great. It was my first time dining at the Mercer hotel and I will definitely be returning. The halibut and the lobster were exceptional as was the sommelier who was very gentlemanly and knowledgeable. Our waitress was also really attentive to our needs. Kudos!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, nice menuVery good food, nice menu and very good but unobtrusive service. Shrimp salad amazing. Noise level not bad compared to many other New York restaurants.
My only complaint was the lighting. This was the worst lit restaurant I have ever experienced. While I think our table was possibly in a slightly darker corner than other tables, it was impossible for me to read the menu without the light function of a BlackBerry. It was also quite difficult to actually see our food. More candles on the table would have helped but a small amount of extra lighting in the restaurant would do wonders without destroying the ambiance. The decor, size of table, comfort of the chairs etc was very good - why not let people see the place, the menu and the food?6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night in SOHO!Jean-Georges delivers the goods! Excellent space, filled with people having a great time and enjoying excellent food. This is the second time we have been to Mercer Kitchen and each time was memorable. The Tempura Crab appetizer was particularly great.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat dining venuevery great decoration and design
very good food
good vine list5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMit's another good one of Mr. GeorgeWhenever I invited my Korean friends to the mercer, they always enjoyed ambience, foods andprice there.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and atmosphereWent to Mercer Kitchen with my 17 year old daughter in the evening. Food was great as was the atmosphere. We both really enjoyed it.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMdessertButterscotch pudding with salty caramel is my favor5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food as always althoughGreat food as always although but disappointed that Mac n cheese was cold and bread with carpaccio smelt a bit burnt. That said it was a delicious evening and we'll definitely be back.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh Standard in SOHOMany restaurants that have been around for years rest on their laurels but Mercer Kitchen keeps getting better. The subterranean room continues to enchant with its brick walls, arches and skylights but the food is the star. Beginning with a sublime fennel, mushroom and Parmesan salad with a light lemon dressing followed by a tuna spring roll was the perfect lunch. Fish and chips present with lightly battered ethereal fish and real "soft on the outside crunchy on the inside" chips -- amazing. Thanks for keeping the level of food so high.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome, but eat downstairs. The bar gets busy, so eating downstairs where the ratio if servers to tables is a bit better (or at least where I've had better luck), might help the experience. Have the burger; it's outstanding.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Sunday brunchReally good food and service, great atmosphere. Only complaint would be that it was hard to cram all the delicious food onto the small table, which was also very low. Will definitely go again. And probably again.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious meal!Another delicious dinner from Jean Georges. I am a huge ABC Kitchen fan so I couldn't resist trying Mercer Kitchen now. The food was out of this world. The sticky salmon rice appetizer is one of the best things I have ever ate. So happy we ordered it! My date got the mercer burger which he loved (especially the fries) and I got the champagne shrimp salad. We also had naked oysters to start. Only complaint was our waitress, she was very rude and rushed us! Hopefully next time service is better.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Burger! Worst Bar!The bartenders are too young and have no clue what they are doing, I ordered a negroni and when i asked for a straw they didnt have cocktail straws so he pits a big super size soda straw in my glass..really? I had to ask him to cut it to size..lol
I also had to get their attention every time I wanted another one..the bar was not busy yet the bartenders sid not keep checking on me and my friend. Thank god for the burger which helped redeem this place..it was cooked to petfection and it was delicious.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways perfectAlthough we did not stay at the Mercer hotel this time we did not want to miss the opportunity of at least dining at the Mercer kitchen. The place is just wonderful for its atmosphere, stylishness and the friendliness of its staff. No doubt it is one of the best places in town if you are an adept of boutique type hotels.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, average foodThe title pretty much says it all. The organic salmon was just a piece of cooked salmon. The roasted beets appetizer was good. The tuna spring roll - from the reviews I expected to be wowed. I was not. The black truffle pizza was pretty good, but, hey, this is New York. It's not hard to find a good pizza. The flounder was mush - very disappointing. The atmosphere is fantastic, but, hey, this is New York - it's not hard to find atmosphere. If I am dropping $150 for dinner I hope to find at least one item with a little wow to it. Perhaps it was elsewhere on the menu.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food and ambienceWe went there to have dinner while in NYC. The Restaurant had been recommended by several friends and indeed it is a hot spot and we very much enjoyed it. Food is delicious and the venue very cozy.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLichee MimosaNot to be missed - the raspberry lichee mimosa's !5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good experienceBeautiful place, great food and service . Little bit too noisy sometimes5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Nice and Good and Fresh foodMercer Kitchen is a a gem in Soho friendly, good food and very reliable, I will be back5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingWent there while I was on vacation the food is fantastic, service was great except I didn't like how they served us one plate at a time and had to wait a couple minutes for each plate to come out separately, just wished they served us all at once , other than that it was a good experience.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNice restaurant in SohoGood restaurant in Soho both for lunch and dinner. The food is very very good. Always lot of trendy people there5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food as always! We love the food at Mercer Kitchen. Whatever you pick is great: Seafood, Pizza, Soup ... everything was delicious. And while the restaurant really is a great, warm and stylish place, we were placed at a corner-table behind a column that was simply way too dark. Maybe the restaurant thinks it is not important to see each other and the food ... we would have preferred to enjoy the food and see it ;-)5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was good. It is justThe food was good. It is just odd that we seemed to have a different server every time they came back to the table. The service was good, I just thought it was a weird way to run a restaurant.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good!I was very happy with my trip to Mercer Kitchen as always, good service/good food.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable and relaxedVery enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. Brunch was excellent - and the Tajine of white fish was outstanding.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMALWAYS a great meal... everything on the menu. Stone Levitation goes with every dish! Highly recommended as a gathering or a date go to.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFun with friends. LimitedFun with friends. Limited wine list but friendly, helpful sommelier. Beet salad was perfect.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently delicious food.Consistently delicious food. Service is usually on point; but our server had a bad attitude this visit. Food came a bit too fast and also made the experience feel rushed.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWas good but for a ThusrsdayWas good but for a Thusrsday night i would expected more people!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe salmon was amazing! WillThe salmon was amazing! Will definitely be coming back.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGuaranteed great food experiencesFrom the moment we were greeted to the exit ,the attentive staff made each decision needed easy and intelligent. The downstairs dining could be dark yet the design opens the space. We went in post shopping for a light dinner and enjoyed each bite, and sip. The pizza with black truffle oil is sublime- the deft touch of cheese and greens gave it texture. The sea bass carpaccio melts in your mouth. We had an order of roasted vegetables; wonderfully prepared although a bit stingy in portion size. Our server assisted in wine selection , making the choices informed. She also knew each ingredient in each plate and was careful to listen to our preferences to match them to the menu.
Any hour of the day this is a prized spot!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable birthday dinnerAn excellent birthday dinner at Mercer Kitchen. Our waiter, Jose, helped us with recommendations and we were delighted with each and every choice. The black truffle pizza was amazing! We split the burger which came highly recommended and met every expectation and we also split the sea bass which was also wonderful. The wine and desserts were equally pleasing and the service was outstanding. Can't wait to return to Mercer Kitchen.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMdidn't like or eat the dessertdidn't like or eat the dessert bco basil in icre cream. thnk the server shouldhave asked.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMone of the city's best dinningone of the city's best dinning spots. Will definitely be back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic food and servicea great place to dine with ambience, dacor, and fantastic food and service4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMVery vibrant place, but itVery vibrant place, but it was quite chilly. As it was quite cold outside, so a little warmer inside would have been nice. Food was excellent and our host very nice. Although it's a 'cool' place, our boys were very welcome.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service and ambiance wasThe service and ambiance was excellent and the selected items from the menu was delicious. Large portions. Excellent dining experience4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for brunch, but aWe went for brunch, but a lunch menu was also available, which was a good thing. I wanted to order the scallops, unfortunately they did not have them that day so I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was great, however the fries were only a few and saggy rather than crisp, although tasty. Good food overall. My friends odered french fries which came in clay flower pots I saw in Michael's store, so that was weird and somewhat unapealling.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth Going! My husband and I spent the night in Manhattan and wanted to find a trendy, good rated restaurant and found the Mercer Kitchen on Open Table. Based on the excellent reviews we decided to give it a try. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in. I ordered lobster and my husband got the Mercer burger.. The portions sizes are quite small and we were both still hungry even after an app and entrees. We would recommend it as it seems to have a nice vibe and although the portions were not what we are used to, the food was tasty and well prepared.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently wonderful experienceIf going for brunch with a group of 2-4, is upstairs. Sunny, beautiful. If dinner, then cozy downstairs is better.
One of my all time favorites in NY!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to goReally loved this restaurant and would tell anyone visiting New York to go there. Very friendly staff.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSteamed shrimp salad is stillSteamed shrimp salad is still the best shrimp dish in New York.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
