  • "We went for an Easter Brunch and it's probably not the best time to critique a restaurant as they were quite full. We had to ask several times if we could order, ask for salt and pepper, more water, coffee, etc. We ordered Belgian waffles and received a plate with half a waffle on it, and nothing else. Cream and berry compote came on the side, but this was the entree - half a waffle. The spinach and gruyere omelette had no gruyere. It's almost as if the kitchen had run out of ingredients by the time they served us our food. The appetizer shrimp salad was delicious, as was the Valrhona chocolate cake. The ambiance was cool and hip, but not sure I'd return for an appetizer and a dessert. "

  • "Was recommended Mercer Kitchen by a colleague so had high expectations. However I have to say my experience left me feeling very underwhelmed. The bar staff were not very attentive and rude, and when I was finally served, was told I couldn't open a tab for my drinks and later my dinner; they had to be closed off separately. Waiting staff didn't know the menu, nor the origin or why something was named what it was. Was specially recommend the Mercer Burger on the menu, but this didn't live up to expectation - sloppy looking burger with incredibly over salted fries! Wouldn't return sadly as felt over priced and lacked in care and attention."

Our waitress had zero personality and a snooty attitude. When my sister asked about the Eggs Benedict the waitresses description was "they're normal". Just not impressed at all."

  • "I went to Mercer for a business dinner with a large group earlier this week and it was so good I took my wife back on Wednesday night for a dinner for two. On both occasions the service was very efficient and the food fantastic. The venue has a fantastic ambience and it's not too noisy unlike so many other venues in NYC. I would highly recommend the Shrimp Cocktail and the Lobster. The cocktail menu is also interesting and the Ginger Margareta was delicious. I will recommend this venue to all of my business associates and friends as a must do place to go when I get back to Australia."

  • "Overall my experience at Mercer kitchen was ok, we made reservations for three, and they as they walked us to the table the table was just too small to accomodate three people, for two it would have beeen great, we asked to sit somewhere else there were plenty of open spacious tables but Maitre D said it was all he had. Food was good, totally recomend the crispy sushi! And the black truffle pizza as well! I asked for a glass of cab, they just brought me the glass full to the table, the server didnt even let me taste the wine beforehand which was a bit of a let down but whatever, overall food was good service was ok.."

  • "The food is very good, this being a Jean Georges restaurant and all. Crispy squid, raw kale salad with parmesan and crab fritters are nice starters, and the main dishes don't disappoint. Desserts are also very good. However on our most recent visit, it was hard not to feel rushed. It was a Saturday night and it looked like they were trying to turn the tables fast. It would've been nice to be able to linger a little longer over the yummy dishes coming out of the kitchen. A late lunch may be a better option in this celebrity laden hotel."

The menu choices were varied and our picks were outstanding ... especially the black truffle fontina cheese pizza ... and the service was welcoming and helpful as we made our selections. Before we were seated for our meal, we had a drink at the bar. The young men who were tending bar were very friendly and accommodating. They were a wonderful introduction to our experience at Mercer Kitchen! Kudos!"

  • "I go to Mercer Kitchen very often f and they are known for their rudeness but usually you can easily forget about it and enjoy a decent meal. But this time the hostess was as rude as it gets despite the restaurant being totally empty. She was so aggressive and rude that we ended up leaving I will probably never set foot in this place ever again"

  • "We had a reservation at 9pm and we did not get seated until 9:30. It was so noisy I repeated my wine order 3 times and the waitress still got it wrong. We order the Mercer burger medium well and the dressing on the side and it came out rare with the dressing on it. My daughter and her friend each ordered a coke and each refill was $4 so two comes cost $16. I will never go back. The service was horrible."

  • "We have been here for a couple of times before and liked it. However our last experience was awful. We went here at 9:30 and ordered 5 starters and 4 entrees. We waited for 1 hour and the waiters brought the starters and the main dishes at the same time. We sent back the entrees and started to eat our starters. Then a gentleman came and blamed us for not mentioning that we would like to have our appetizers first! He acknowledged us that we have to wait for at least 20 more minutes for the main dishes with a quite rude attitude. As we asked for the cheque, we saw that the main dishes were charged TWICE! It took the new waitress 3 visits to our table to fix the error. We were shocked with so many unfortunate events in such a upscale place."

  • "I've been to Mercer before and love it. This time though, I was sending my mother and 6 of her friends (all 55yo) for dinner. They are all very picky and certainly not foodies. I was very nervous but they loved it. They had a great time and the menu had something for everyone. They even branched out and tried some new dishes. I will continue to recommend Mercer to all!"

  • "We took a German colleague to mercer kitchen and it was amazing. Loved the food, ambiance and service. Surprisingly, with 3 entrees and 3 drinks our bill was only 125 dollars! I have paid a lot more in less exclusive restaurants, so mercer is a definite re-visit for me. We went there on a Sunday night, and the place was packed. I had rigatoni pasta with meatballs which was heavenly , the 3 cheese ravioli was great and so was the burger. Very romantic and urban chic, this is a definite date or special occasion place in one of the most trendy artsy soho district of nyc."

  • "The appetiser was good...littleneck clams very fresh but entree, a steamed fish cooked the Moroccan way was a huge disappointment. Fish somewhat undercooked and bathed in oil. Could have asked for an exchange but didn't fancy anything else on the menu. Too many waiters standing around in a careless manner...not good. One even had a sinus problem and tried to clear his nose/throat on more than one occasion quite close to me...not helpful. The place is starting to look tired even though the decor is mostly in dark wood. Not going back nor making recommendations until there is improvement."

  • "Our experience at Mercer Kitchen was good. Our food was good. I just would not say it was great, and on my list to rush back to. These are the reasons why: 1. We were seated by the bar at a cramped table on a Friday night which was rather noisy. 2. Our waitress was very nice but did not offer any information without us having to ask a lot of questions and we could hardly hear anything she said. 3. No drink/wine and food recommendations were made. 4. We felt the establishment was over priced for what was delivered, especially the wine! It is a hip place to go and located in a great area. The pork chop was the best item we ordered!"

  • "This is my third or fourth time coming to MK. As always, the food is delicious, the drinks are well mixed, the restaurant is buzzing, and the service is timely. Of note: The Dark and Stormy, Tagine, The Lamb (which was so tender it melts in your mouth), the Sea Bass Carpaccio appetizer. I got the roasted squash app. with pecorino and prociutto. That was a little eh, and I wouldn't order again. But the peekytoe crab was quite good. The carpaccio was the real standout."

  • "We loved everything from the appetizer to desert. The salmon with crispy rice appetizer was a modern take on sushi. Sushi salmon over flash fried sushi/sticky rice squares & a tiny thin layer of sauce sandwiched between with a beautiful delicate blend of flavors. For desert we had the Rhubarb pie with Strawberry Sorbet. I am normally a chocolate fan & on most occasions DFGF. Since the Raspberry Sorbet was DFGF I decided to try it out. Trust me when I say, this desert was worth the cheat & I did not miss the chocolate at all. It was a delicate explosion of yumminess in every bite! Again, the delicate blend of flavors was exceptional. Everything is made in house. The service was exceptional. Portions were generous. We will definitely return."

  • "Another NYC recommendation and we weren't disappointed! One of the nicest restaurants I've ever been to. We had a 9pm reservation ( this is a must) and we arrived a little early - they seated us at bar for fabulous cocktails whilst are table came available. Great menu, we kept it simple and just had a main course. The service was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, all staff were v attentive and our server was fabulous! I ordered rigatoni with meatballs and I can safely say the best I've tasted. We had a bottle of prosecco with dinner and the bill was v reasonable. The restaurant is lovely, it's dimly lit, with a lovely decor and candles on the tables, beautiful. I loved the food and the overall experience."

  • "The restaurant itself is lovely but the service was really bad. It took at least 15mins before our server came and introduced herself and gave us a drinks menu, although she took our food order at the same time as by then we knew what we wanted. She came back for the drinks order and it took another 15mins for our drinks to be served, by which time even our food had arrived before the drinks. One of our party ordered a second drink which took so long the rest of us had all finished, the server came and cleared up our table removing the cover etc before he finished and then brought the check - didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee, which we had been planning. So we paid up and went somewhere else for dessert and more drinks!"

  • "It's odd to say that a restaurant is both "good for groups," "romantic," and "kid-friendly." but Mercer Kitchen encapsulates it all. The top level is very airy, with generous sunlight streaming in through the windows. A great place to sit a drink afternoon cup of tea and dessert, or a morning cup of coffee before shopping in Soho. On the bottom level (where larger groups are seated), it's a bit darker and romantic with long large tables- which can either be communal or perfect for a large party."

  • "This was my first experience at Mercer Kitchen, and I was quite pleased. Although it is on the pricier end, it is well worth it! The staff was extremely attentive and my server offered her honest and passionate opinion about the dishes that i was debating between. She raved about each dish but explained each in detail, so that i would be happy woth my choice. I began the meal woth the baby beet and goat cheese salad, followed by the sea bass tagine. I was full and satisfied. My server told me 'food is life' and she's right! I appreciate when my servers are familiar with the menu and can offer their expertise so that I'm happy with my decision. I will definitely be going back!"

  • "We were in the city to celebrate my husband's birthday and met up with our daughter and several of her friends we have known since childhood at the restaurant. The server apparently noticed the exchange of cards and birthday wishes and surprised us with a cookie plate and candle at the end of brunch! Very sweet and greatly appreciated. All of our food selections were excellent, though we were surprised that one cannot order a fried egg separately (one of us wanted french toast and an egg)."
