Food was excellent, a bit pricey but with the BYO it comes out to a reasonable price. We really enjoyed the trio bread spread, and the homemade pastas. Our server was great as well. Cash only.

I had the Mako Shark and it was a delicious entrée. The meal was straight off the grill so it was the right temperature and it had a tangy lemon sauce that made what normally would be a bland fish taste really good. The fish was also moist but not undercooked (medium is great). Service was awesome.

A lovely salad of frisée and beets but ho-hum lobster pasta, tough and unchewable veal that was too salty, too cheesy, and with too much lemon juice, and a mango sorbet that was too sweet and glutinous made for a disappointing birthday celebration, despite apologetic staff.

Just continues to have great food. Nothing special about the place, tables close together, but not important as it is still a fun place. Always great food and specials as well. Like to go before the we head over to Walnut Steet Or Academy of Music. Plus BYOB. You can't miss when going to Mercato.

Came to Mercato with my parents and best friend for dinner after an event in the City. Mercato is one of our favorite places to eat in Philly. For a rainy Wednesday night, it was at full capacity. Phenomenal food from start to finish. Definitely save room for dessert. The Olive Oil Cake is so unique and different and worth every calorie! The only potential drawback in the restaurant is the noise level, so if you're looking for quiet, this isn't the place. But the high noise level adds to the electric energy so it can be a lot of fun. Oh - stop by Vilanni's across the street for a pre-dinner drink at the bar. They're the sister restaurant, as we came to discover. Great drink menu and ridiculous happy hour prices (ALL drinks 1/2 off).

BYOB and bring your cash! Then get prepared for a lovely meal. The inside always feels too loud for me so we sat outside and had great (but busy) wait staff. The food is really a cut above and the prices are not outrageous either. Strongly recommend Mercato.

Went for a date night. Parked at a lot 3 blocks down the street for $16. The food was fantastic, from the appetizers to the entrees. Chicken marsala blew my mind. BYOB is a huge plus. The place got packed full of suits around 8:30pm on a week night, kinda added to the ambiance. Recommending this place to all my friends for a special night.

Service was very rushed and the food was disappointing compared to many previous visits. Garden Salad, which we have had before was meh. Salmon special came with mashed potatoes instead on oven roasted fingerlings and the fish portion was more reminiscent of Restaurant Week than their normal portion sizes. We won't be going back soon.

Not much needs to be said. A restaurant such as Mercato speaks for itself. The menu was everything any sensible person with good taste in food needs. It's a BYOB so don't come empty handed. The service, from the hostess down the the waiters, was great. The food was delicious. I had the Pyramid Pasta. I'm not a huge pasta fan but this dish won me over. My dinner date had the salmon special with included a lump crab salad at the bottom of the dish which was a nice surprise. The tables were close together but we didn't even mind. We had fun with the patrons! The restaurant also brought out a dessert with a candle for my date's birthday which was sweet. Over all, INCREDIBLE, and I will be back from NY to visit, again!

As with the other reviews, Mercato is very small, noisy, and crowded. However, the food made up for all of that!!! We tried three things off the cheese/meat board, one olive oil, and got the 4 course tasting menu. We were absolutely stuffed by the second course, however the food was so incredible we just kept going. For my chef boyfriend, the scallops had "the wow factor" which says a lot!! We would definitely go back to Mercato, but next time choose one or two selections instead of our over-zealous random 6 course dinner! So good!

I went to Mercato for my birthday dinner this week...the restaurant was really busy and lively. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 meatballs in our meatball appetizer were burned so bad that we had to send them back....we received a new, full appetizer, complimentary risotto and dessert! which was above and beyond, but very much appreciated and absolutely delicious! The salmon special and Chicken Marsala were fantastic and we were both stuffed!

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday as a surprise, and he was very pleased. I was disappointed because there was no host stand and just stood outside the restaurant until someone came to talk to me.We had reservations at 9:45 but they took us closer to 10, since its BYOB there is no bar and we just stood at the corner of the restaurant, not to mention they didn't ask us what time we had reservations until another couple, who's reservations were at 10pm, were about to be sat before us. The restaurant itself was great, but we could only get seating outside because it was packed, and it took away from the experience that I wanted to give my boyfriend on his special day even after asking for a nice table. Our waiters were exceptional.

We had an 8:15pm reservation this past Saturday night and were not seated until after 9pm. Apart from an apology from the hostess, nothing was said about our nearly hour wait despite having a reservation. They did not adjust our bill either. The waiter was mostly absent and very unhelpful. I had been here once before and remember the food being quite good, however it did not live up to what I remembered. Perhaps they were having an off night, but given our experience I won't be giving them another chance.

We have been going to Mercato since 2007 when I lived in Washington, DC and my boyfriend in NY. Phily was our halfway meeting place and we stumbled upon Mercato randomly, but we are so happy we did. We visit almost everytime we visit Philly. We both live in NY now but have such fond memories of Philly, many that include Mercato, that we visit Philly often. It is an added bonus that it is byob. Servers and staff are awesome. Menu is amazing. Check out the gay piano bar (mix of straight/gay patrons) Tavern on Camac down the block in alley after dinner. Great neighborhood.

A bit disappointed at the service. Our table outside was very wobbly and all the glasses and wine bottle would keep sliding on the table top. A waiter tried to help us until my husband found something to stabilize the table. They did not check in with us to see how our meal was either. I did enjoy the food but would probably sit inside the next time.

A couple, who were seated after us, at a table about a foot away from ours, knew the staff. They received extra plates prior to us receiving appetizers, in addition to little extras from the kitchen and staff throughout their dining experience. I wouldn't have had an issue with this sort of special treatment, had we been made to feel just as valuable as patrons. However, we were left in the dust in comparison! Water was never refilled, appetizers & entrees arrived cold, we were never checked in on, I never received my coffee...just a really disappointing dining experience, that I am certain would not have been the same had we not been next to friends of the staff. The second-rate treatment has left me thinking we probably won't be back.

Mercato did not have our reservation for 2 ready, and made us wait for a specific table that was next to an open 4 person table. After 10 minutes, the hostess became impatient and separated the 4 person table (#2 2 person tables squeezed together) by about 1 inch, as that was all the space available. She then sat us down and another group of 2, all while banging their table into ours just to allow them to squeeze by to sit. The restaurant was already way too loud to even hear, but to add insult to injury, they sat the group of 2 right on top of us, as though we were all supposed to dine together. Thank you for making us wait for a table that was open the entire time, and for sitting us centimeters away from strangers on our date. Terrible.

I chose the restaurant because it was BYO and close to the Forrest. We were celebrating my wife's 50th with dinner and a show.
