The only thing that made our visit
unpleasant was our server Sergio. He was courteous but terrible time management, would walk away without finishing taking order, disappear for a long time, didn't knew how to enter orders in the computer. Saw the manager helping him in the computer and later on he stepped in to serve us at the table. The food was good and we enjoy the experience enough to think about going back but they need to do a better job at training their staff."

The atmosphere is wonderful and
they have a great patio.Great for a date night or a girls night. It's upscale but comfy European cafe style. Our steaks were full of flavor with delicious sauce, and the seafood was fresh and tasty. However, sloppiness kept this from being more stars. Seafood cocktail was served on top of what tasted like straight ketchup and nothing else. I asked for horseradish. We sat for over 15 mins before our drink order was taken and had incredibly slow service the entire time. We had to ask for menus. The staff seemed stressed and were all rushing around, bumping our table. I hope that something unusual was going on that night and this isn't typical. I'd go back, but I'd expect improvement before returning a 3rd time."

Enjoyed Mercat very much. It does
a great job transporting you to a Parisian cafe in downtown Dallas. The food and wine were very good. The service outstanding. My wife and I look forward to going back."

Our go-to French restaurant,
coming from a couple that lived in Paris for 2 years. Haven't had anything we didn't like, but do recommend the tartare, any of the steaks, and the roasted chicken!"

I would never hd found this place
Dined on 2/15/2014
Except for the faux chalk board
menu above the bar, this was very reminiscent of a real Paris bistro. Reasonable prices. Limited menu but covers a lot of culinary territory and executed flawlessly. Wonderful professional service. Great ambience. We were there on Valentine+1 so not yet terrace time but really nice outdoor tables available. Salmon en croute was delicate, perfectly done. Marinated fresh anchovies were just right. Farro salads, yumm. Excellent sea scallops. Good wine list, although a bit pricey."

had a quiet business lunch here
this week, had never been here before. It's french influence casual food, lots of awesome sandwiches. We don't have much french food in Dallas so it was a treat to try some new things. Very approachable menu, friendly and laid-back staff and vibe. Not cheap, but what good food is these days, I'd recommend it. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner."

Stopped in for breakfast Saturday
morning. They'd just opened, so it took a bit for service to get started, but was fantastic once the restaurant was awake! There's probably a stick of butter in every croissant - incroyable! I've always wondered why gourmet restaurants don't make Eggs Benedict with prosciutto - now I've found one that does, and it's every bit as wonderful as I expected. Lovely people, somehow tucked away and hidden in the middle of downtown Dallas. No more hotel breakfasts in the Big D for us..... we'll be back here every chance we can get!"

If you are looking for a great
little bistro, you won't be disappointed. It is subdued at 6:00, so it wasn't a vibrant scene or hotspot. There was more noise coming from St. Ann's than there was on the patio itself. The food was very good, and the staff was attentive. I hope this place catches on. There aren't that many casual places for French food in Dallas. I think this place can be a good one."
Dined on 11/1/2013
Mercat is as close to a French
Brasserie as you can get, this side of the pond. The food was executed perfectly [special note: I love that they bring the chicken to your table prior to carving to make sure it is cooked to your liking] Dallas restaurants struggle with properly coursing your meal [delivering each course separately and letting you enjoy before setting another course in front of you] that ability is both art and science and Mercat courses with precision. If you are looking for a special place for date night or any night -- Mercat is your answer -- Mercat -- we don't know why it took you so long to get to Dallas but we are glad you are here!!!"

My girlfriend and I went to Mercat
on Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant has a "modern bistro" feel, it is located just a few steps away from Saint Ann's but offers a much more warm and intimate environment. The service was very friendly and professional, and had a decidedly more relaxed / Euro pace that was refreshing. The food was excellent, we started the meal with foie gras and then enjoyed the steak frites with peppercorn sauce and scallops with risotto as main courses. Along the way, we were also treated to warm French bread and whipped blueberry butter that was even better than it sounds. All in all, a great experience -- we look forward to trying Mercat for brunch soon."

We selected this place on a whim
because of its location near the performing arts district for an early dinner before a performance. The food was excellent - great recommendations by our waiter. Perfectly cooked steak and pomme frites with homemade mayo to die for! They had a very nice wine list for by the glass selections. My only complaint was the tiny cafe table they tried to put us at are just two small for two people at dinner."
Dined on 12/28/2013
the reviews were overblown- they
were out of the wine I wanted. They were out of the dessert I ordered- and I had an early reservation-7. They are nice enoughj- but need to get their act together- The food is ok but nothing special."
Dined on 11/16/2013
Nice, quaint addition to the area.
Menu is diverse, creative. Food was good, not great. Nicoise was tuna salad. Ambience was great for business lunch. Quiet, formal without being imposing, relaxed. Very good service."
Dined on 10/24/2013
The food was very thoughtfully
prepared. The plates were nice China. The service was a bit too casual for the degree of quiet intimacy the restaurant conveys. The service was good, mind you, but too casual for the venue. The space itself is cozy and rather small, but nicely done. I recommend this for dates, but not for a large group (as that would take up the whole restaurant). I hope this place stays in business a long time as Dallas needs more good French restaurants! A- But a solid A."

Really incredible food and great
service! One of my new favorite restaurants!"
Dined on 10/20/2013
I have now been here a couple
times for dinner and a couple times for lunch. I would say lunch far outweighs the dinner. Quiche is the best ever! I've had two different steaks for dinner plus the short ribs and all were very average. The steak for two is priced quite high and should have more than just french fries -- also should be a better cut of meat. The people are always so congenial and service is great. Hope they can up the food level but it may be too late."

I've been to Mercat a couple of
times and always had a good experience. And its nice to go to a restaurant that is conscious that in Dallas, we have several choices and tries to make sure you are happy with your experience. Even the hostest came to check on us to inquire whether we were satisfied with our table. Now, when is the last time that happened?!"

Food was mediocre and service was
terrible. We won't be back. The bloody mary was good."

Terrific in every way! Our new
favorite restaurant ."

Everything was fantastic. The
server knew the menu and made good recommendations and management followed up without being obtrusive. All and all this was a hit"

Very good French bistro. Most
authentic bistro in Dallas. Good wine selection. Overall a notch above the admittedly few local authentic French bistros. Very good food, nothing, however, to knock your socks off. Just wish it was around the corner. A lot of hassle to go downtown for a very nice meal that is not necessarily a special occasion type destination or weekend scene type place. Would be happy to go there weekly for decent, fairly priced food. If Mercat had something simple like homemade oh my God best ice cream ever, for example, it would entice me to go the extra mile (s) to go there. Was very quiet Saturday night 7-8 PM, I hope this place can make it for years to come but was surprised how slow it was given the quality. 4.5 stars"

I've had lunch here and dinner.
Best quiche I have ever eaten!! For dinner we had the brushcetta, which was excellent, mussels were very good, steak had good flavor but a little tough. Love the size and ambience and definitely will go back. Very accommodating staff."
Dined on 8/22/2013
My wife and I happened across
Mercat by accident and we are so happy we did. We recently came home for a vacation to Paris and were so happy to find a place that captures the look and feel of France. Everything we had was delicious, but the grilled salad and the short rib were stand outs. Go now."
Dined on 8/17/2013
Everything was all right with this
restaurant: however there were no specials, and everything seemed to be market price. I release your again but would not go out of my way. Restaurant is small and cramped so I would recommend a reservation."
Dined on 8/11/2013
Food was tasteless, the furthest
thing from French cuisine. Service was fair at best. Host didn't bother to greet us or even acknowledge that we were there. He spent most of the time laughing with what appeared to be friends. Portions were small and not worth the price. Go to St. Ann's next door for a much better meal."
Dined on 7/21/2013
Great French bistro look with
uncomfortable chairs. Server was very accommodating but not totally knowledgeable. Tarragon seemed to permeate the meal although never named in the dishes. The bread was excellent. Jambon Iberico was dry and salty but OK. The Crispy veal sweetbreads, bacon vinaigrette, frisee salad was lovely except for the heavy handed dijon and tarragon in the dressing. Salmon Koulibiak was spot on. Trout was overcooked, the brown butter would had volumes of cracked pepper. The lentils would have fared better without tarragon. The Pomme Frites, although requested crisp, came out browned but limp like they had been made ahead and left sitting. I'd love for this place to make it but the lack of patrons spoke volumes."

Get there early before the noise
level really kranks up. It has the good feel of a small french bistro. I enjoyed my hanger steak."
Dined on 7/28/2013
We loved our meals and the
ambience. Hope it doesn't get too loud for me when it catches on. I can't wait to go back"
Dined on 7/27/2013
great service - very pretty
enviroment. Dallas needed a french bistro."
Dined on 7/26/2013
A little pricey, but a good
addition to the neighborhood. Friendly staff and a competent (if not inspired) kitchen. A perfectly decent place to go if you live in the Ritz-Victory-Harwood area, are tired of cooking, and want a glass of wine and bistro fare. Nice patio for when it's not too hot or cold."
Dined on 7/26/2013
Ambience of a French bistro, some
unique items like quail and sweetbreads, which both were very good. Only complaint is that salads were on the small side and wine list was very limited and very mediocre."
Dined on 7/25/2013
Great space but the menu, while
inspired was lacking (the only starch you can get is French fries!). Service needs work as wait staff were not engaging and it felt more like you were in a diner vs. a restaurant. Has potential just needs more work ...."
Dined on 7/20/2013
I am thrilled about the addition
of Mercat to the Dallas dining scene. While Mercat is new and has some kinks to iron out, they clearly take customer service and delicious food very seriously. We enjoyed the foie gras terrine, the braised mushrooms and the very generous veal sweetbreads with frisee salad. We can't wait to go back for more!"
Dined on 7/14/2013
I've been here twice now and the
food coupled with the atmosphere makes you feel like you've stepped out of Dallas for a few hours. Very quaint and perfectly nestled beside St. Anne's, Mercat has gotten it right in all the right ways."
Dined on 7/13/2013
Mercat is a welcome addition to
the uptown scene. Affiliated with St. Ann's restaurant, but much more conscious of the quality of the food. It's small, intimate, and feels like a real French bistro. We would have loved it even more if the server had told us the names/types of cheeses on the cheese plate- but those minor improvements will come over time, I'm sure. It's a solid beginning for a spot which could become a real gem. We booked through open table, but the resaurant didn't show our reservation. Since they weren't busy at the time, seating wasn't difficult. Perhaps there are things to iron out between the computer systems."
Dined on 7/13/2013
Food was cold and
mediocre...bland. wait staff was uninformed. decent wine list, thought expensive"
Dined on 7/13/2013
You feel like you are in Paris.
Fabulous in every way."
Dined on 7/9/2013
After going to Paris last year,
Dallas' "french" scene has left a little to be desired. Aside from my server's lack of French dialogue, the whole experience made me feel as if I was whisked back to St. Germain. Tremendous food, great prices - will definitely be back often!"
Dined on 6/30/2013
his is a wonderful little
restaurant! It is new, so we got right in...I hope it will become a hard reservation to get! The food is excellent and the service as well...wines, great! If you love Paris bistros, you will love this spot. I cant wait for the weather to cool off so I can go and sit on the patio!"
