A word from Menton
Menton, Chef Barbara Lynch’s Fort Point fine dining restaurant, is the final concept to complete her Fort Point trifecta and joins neighbors Sportello and Drink. Located in FP3, the AIA award-winning luxury condominium complex, Menton radiates an understated elegance and offers several beautiful spaces to dine including the 60-seat dining room, a 12-seat Chef’s Table, and the 45-seat private dining room. The restaurant, a glamorous expression of fine dining, was designed by Cheryl and Jeffrey Katz of C&J Katz and features a subtle palette of grays with touches of silver and black. The cuisine of Menton, an artful blend of French technique and Italian soul, displays Executive Chef Colin Lynch’s talent for precision, refinement, and visual artistry in the form of two menu options: a four-course prix-fixe and a seven-course chef’s tasting. Guests will relax and enjoy a carefully choreographed culinary experience under the direction of Chef Colin Lynch and GM Meredith Gallagher.

  • It was our wedding anniversary.

It was our wedding anniversary. The waitress said we looked like we here celebrating something special (seemed like a bit rehearsed)My husband thought it was because we looked like we didn't belong there. She made a point of commenting on how special it was and later gave us a dessert wine to celebrate. It was lovely, but a bit contrived. When our dessert came,it said 'happy anniversary' on the plate with chocolate. They were also very attentive with food allergies. All in all it was a lovely evening the food was very good and the service kind and attentive. At one point they brought out the 2nd course without flatware on the table server appologized and ran back to the kitchen which seemed odd. Room was dark and plain could use more color

Nothing is quite like Menton in Boston. It was amazing. The food was exquisite, the service was always right around the corner, but never overbearing. The room was minimalist but still inviting. The price tag is very hefty, but it was truly a remarkable dinner.

Barbara Lynch continues to impress. The ambiance exuded simple contemporary elegance. The food and presentation was absolutely fabulous. We tried the Chef Tasting Menu and every dish was one delight after the next! The foie gras was simply amazing with a wonderful mix of cherries and truffles that rounded out the flavors. Service was impeccable. It's pricey but well worth it.

    Bostonian
    Dined on 6/6/2010
On the occasion of our son's birthday, we took he and his girlfriend to dinner on Sunday evening. The ambiance is simply elegant in the smoky gray walls of the dining room. It is quiet and the servers make you feel comfortable and not rushed. As other diners came in over time, it never felt as if it were getting crowded, yet every table was full. After a round of delicious martinis, we selected the prix fixe menu ($95). All of us were wowed by the presentation, the flavors and the fact that we weren't totally stuffed when dinner ended. Portions are small but filling. The only thing you need to be prepared for is the price. With cocktails, dinner for 4, a nice bottle of wine, our bill came to almost $750! But it was worth it. Expensive! Yes!

A great evening with one fatal flaw... the food just wasn't very good. The descriptions, ingredients and presentations were all outstanding but the flavors were just not there. Some of the dishes were bland, all the fish was fishy and across the board the dishes looked unbelievable and yet were disappointing. The staff were incredible and restaurant is a visual treat, but it is just too expensive for the food to be average.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

While the food was good, we were overall pretty disappointed by Menton. The atmosphere is very sterile, the dining room is sparsely decorated and does not hide its newness, and the chairs are quite uncomfortable (which is a particular issue during a 4 or 7 course dinner). There were also way too many servers, waiters, and other staff constantly and very visibly circulating around the restaurant which made it very hard to relax and enjoy the special evening. A restaurant that is aiming to be of this high quality should make you feel like your every need is being met without actually making you FEEL like you are constantly being observed and your table scrutinized.

This restaurant is a 3-star, and I've been to enough of those in France to know the difference. From the moment you step inside to the minute you leave, you are treated royally. The service is impeccable, knowledgeable, helpful and never intrusive. The atmosphere is almost spa-like -- subdued, quite colors and tones, set off by a few visual points of interest. The food is magnificent. We had the chef's tasting menu and from first to last course, it was amazing. The paired wines were a revelation -- changing in the glass with each taste of the various components of the dish. There even was a surprise course in the midst of the tasting. Barbara Lynch knows what she's doing and is head-and-tails beyond every other chef in New England.

A high quality dining experience in Boston. Usually, the food is the decider more than anything else for me. But in this case, the service was so lovely, it improved the quality of the experience. Every server knew even the details of the stemware, made by Austrian monks. They responded to our every need. The four courses of the prix fixe option were plenty. The breads are delicious. The seafood choices were excellent, as was the rabbit, and we liked the general preference for local sources. The "hand picked tarragon" on my lobster salad was a little silly, but generally the touches were elegant. A couple of items were too salty, which is always a disappointment. It is expensive but not a lot more to criticize.

I was prepared to be awed at Menton. After all, this restaurant is supposed to be a step above my favorite "special occasion" destination, No. 9 Park. The food was... good. It really should have been on the level of places like Charlie Trotter's in Chicago or the Inn at Little Washington in Virginia. I had meals at both of those places more than 10 years ago and I still remember almost every dish because every bite was amazing. I went to Menton just a few days ago and I'm already forgetting what I ate. The "rabbit two ways" was, quite simply, bland. Due to my love of No. 9 and BL's other restaurants I would give Menton another try - but only if someone else is paying.

The food was outstanding. My wife and I ordered from the 4 course Prix Fixe menu. We were concerned going in that the portions would leave us wanting; however, by the end of the meal we were both quite satisfied. We both had the lobster salad, halibut, and duets of beef. Each was suberbly prepared and presented. The flavors were unique but not overbearing. For desert we didn't want anything sweet, so we asked if they could do a cheese plate instead of the deserts on the menu. To our pleasent surprise, our waiter arrived at our table with entire cheese cart! I must say, the cheeses were some of the best we've ever had and topped off a memorable evening. The only downside, with wine and a cocktail, was the total on the check.

A very special dining experience. Over the top in every way. Our waiter John was excellent. A unique combination of impeccable attention while not stuffy or pretentious and showed a great sense of fun and humor. The food was a ten in presentation, originality and taste. We did the full tasting with wine pairing which is well worth the cost. We will save Menton for special celebrations going forward. The decor was slick while at the same time warm and inviting. Menton is in a category all its own. Barbara has nailed it once again.

RESTAURANT MA-REVIEW: "MENTON" If you're looking for "class and quality," in a restaurant that, in less than a month, has become one of the finest (if not the finest) in town, dine at "Menton." Chef/Owner Barbara Lynch has made this the flagship of her already impressive fleet of restaurants ("No.9 Park," "The Butcher Shop," "B&G Oysters, Ltd.," "Sportello," and "Drink.") After more than a year of research, in which she searched for the perfect wine glass, just the right china, unusual silverware, and the perfect staff, she opened "Menton" in Fort Point Channel, (just across the water behind South Station) in the building already housing "Sportello" and "Drink." She's proclaimed it her flagship, and "the most expensive and high quality" re

This was one of our most pleasant evenings dining in Boston. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the food was excellent. The one complaint would be that it was very meat oriented, and could have benefited with a couple of dishes on the tasting menu which were vegetable oriented--or perhaps even a tasting menu which offered a vegetarian alternative. That said, we understand that the venue has only been open for two weeks, so such variety may be forthcoming after opening jitters are worked out. With that exception, the staff was so well trained that you would never know that the restaurant is so young. The experience overall reminded us of Gary Danko in San Francisco.

A lovely addition to Barbara Lynch's upscale offerings. With Barbara in residence, attention to detail is high. So are the prices. Dinner for 3 with tip was $440. Prix fixe $95. A selection of four choices was eclectic. A salad of root vegetables in the first course almost blew away the fois gras. Less to choose from in the second course, but still whatever was selected was delicious. Like many restaurants with the prix fixe menu, the portions are small, especially the main course. The wine is delicious. We ordered by the glass and they went out of their way to make sure we liked our choice before pouring a full glass. I actually turned down two wines that I didn't like. An exceptional dinner. But pricey.
