A word from Menotomy Grill & Tavern
The name, Menotomy, pays homage to the Menotomy Indians and the Menotomy Village originally settled in 1635. The village was incorporated as the town of Arlington in 1867 following the civil
war as a tribute to Arlington National Cemetery.
Our vision for Menotomy Grill & Tavern is to bring the tavern concept back to the town of Arlington by creating a rustic grill capitalizing on the coziness of a brick house featuring fireplace, open kitchen, exposed beams, large planked hard wood floors, and historical artifacts and photos. Fostering a loyal following will be the key to our success, so we welcome you to join us on Facebook for news, special offers and exciting events.

We chose Menotomy for a girls night out. All our food was delicious. Server was friendly and very attentive. Noise level is what you would expect from a bar/tavern. We could certainly hear each other. I would go back again.

We got the impression from the website and menu that this was a more upscale "date night" venue. The food was good and there was a nice vegetarian entree but the place was very loud, very noisy and had the biggest TVs I've seen in a while. If you're looking for a local, sports bar, watering hole with good food go here. If you want a romantic, date night go somewhere else.

We've been to Menotomy half-a-dozen times and the food is invariably excellent. The waitstaff are kind and considerate in general, but this time our waitress forgot to include the discount from our Arlington Community Card and it took a while for her to track down a manager to void and re-print the receipt. The only other complaint I have is that there are big TVs everywhere so our toddler just stared at the TV (and so did the rest of us for parts of the meal).

Background: party of 4 for drinks/apps/dinner on a Friday night. Had reservation- highly recommend it. Bar scene hopping. Very interesting cocktail menu. One entree could have been better- 1 shrimp/pasta dish with very few shrimp. however, salmon dish exactly as described and large portion. On the loud side; kids would not be noticed. Interesting decor and lively atmosphere. Would recommend for drinks/burgers after work.

This is my neighborhood restaurant. At first it made an effort with the food, but since the summer the quality and presentation has gone down. It is disappointing because the staff is great. The caesar salad is white, the muscles overcooked, the shrimp overcooked as well. Basically you will not be disappointed if you go for comfort food. Leave anything that attempts to be of higher standing on the menu. That being said, great place to watch a game, have a beer and burger with fried pickles. The bar staff is terrific. My message to management is... get a better chef or we will go to NYAJ up the street. (Your advantage is your bar and the people... not neglectable, but not enough for the regulars.

Loud and barn-like--sort of a Cheesecake Factory vibe. My cheeseburger was good, but there was no trace of the smoked tomato jam touted by the menu. My dc had the tuna burger which she found dry, w/o sauce. My fries and her sweet potato fries were good. Server was pleasant and attentive. Great beer list.

but the food was a bit unimaginative. The restaurant has a very upbeat, local bar feel, but the menu doesn't really match the vibe. I was hoping to find foods that you could have while sampling the great beers, pub style sharing foods. I had the caesar salad and the trout special and both were just ok.

Had dinner on a Sat night (Labor Day weekend) with my boyfriend and had a good experience. Quiet for a Sat. night, but again, holiday weekend. Middle-of-the-road menu was good, though one more vegan entrée would be even better. Entrees were very good, though I did think $6 for French fries was a little steep given that they were nothing special. Nice wine list. Great service. Will definitely return on a Thursday night for music. Great addition to the neighborhood.

The place is fairly noisy - it was somewhat hard to hear with just another person in my party. Had good appetizers but the entree, fish and chips, was way too breaded (felt like 1/4 inch thick). Attractive place. Would go back for drinks but probably not a full dinner.

We could not hear each other unless we sat next to the person we talked to. The bluefish was superb. Burger was enjoyed. Fish cakes were great. Our beer aficionado reveled in the list of beers on draft. Some of us live in Arlington and were with you on opening day. (I was "Like # 1000" on Facebook and got to meet the boss that night.) You have a great location and great potential. What you need most is an acoustic engineer. Have you spoken to anyone at MIT? It would be an interesting project to lower the noise level so that social conversations are possible. (We are fortunate in not coming on a Thursday. I am told the live music hurts the ears.) We will have to stay away until you stifle the noise.

I recently met friends for dinner at Menotomy Grill to celebrate a birthday. The decor is current, fresh and clean; the service was excellent, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The menu is not overwhelming with choices but there is a great selection for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Prices will not break the bank. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant. There is ample parking in a nearby free parking lot, as well as on the street. We all said we would like to return here again soon!

The restaurant accommodated our group of 12 pretty smoothly. The noise was a bit difficulty but not as bad as other places. I came her to dine in for the first time on Friday, 8/8/2014. I was on a date and chose this place as it is in my neighborhood, seems to have a good vibe and pretty good reviews on Yelp. I ordered the Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon with parsnips, foraged mushrooms, braised greens, pistachio gremolata & my date selected the New York Strip Steak. My salmon was excellent with a nice mix of flavors & textures. I would order this again along with an appetizer or side dish. His steak should have been medium-well to well-done but arrive most definitely medium rare which was disappointing. Service was "meh". Drink refills offered but delivery forgotten for awhile. Took forever to deliver the check. Improvements to service would be welcomed!

This a nice pub with typical pub food, but they add a little extra special dishes and flavor. The baked beans had a little barbacue flavor and the brussel sprouts had a little bacon bits and mustard. Both just a hint of flavor. The salmon was a huge piece and seemed the healthy option for an entree.

I've been to Menotomy Grill & Tavern three times now with family and it has been a pleasant meal each time. The menu has mostly creative variations on comfort foods. I have enjoyed the Tuna burger, Fish & Chips, and the burgers. The waitress gladly swapped the Quinoa Pilaf for the "& Chips" to make a lighter meal. The fried pickles are a tasty, share-able appetizer. On my last visit the waitress was hard to find as the evening went on, but most visits the service was attentive and timely.

This was the second time we had been to this restaurant. We enjoyed our first time, so we took our daughter there. The food was very good. Unfortunately, the food that I had ordered was not good at all. I notified the waitress and she took care of it immediately. We had ordered several appetizers which were delicious, so I was not that hungry and ended up sharing the flatbread my daughter had ordered, which was very good. Aside from that one mishap, the food and especially the service at the restaurant was excellent. I do recommend this restaurant and will go again.

I have had dinner here three times and always been pleased. A nice variety of choices without being overwhelming. The fireplace in the colder months is a nice addition. You have options of either tables or booths which is nice. Unless you are just going in for a drink at the bar I would always recommend a reservation. It can get a little noisy when busy but not bad. Parking can be slightly tricky if you go at prime time but I have always found a spot. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

I liked Menotomy Grill for a number of reasons. We had a group of 11 people so we saw a lot of different meals. Everyone was happy. They had a good beer and wine selection and they know how to make cocktails. The wait staff was very helpful, everyone chipped in and our primary waiter knew everything on the menu. I like that there is parking. A few people in our party walked from the red line (Alewife) and said the walk was on a nice trail. The atmosphere was bustling, there is an open kitchen and a good sized bar. The entire restaurant is one big open space. The prices were good. The only expensive item I saw was their steak. Nobody ordered it but the waiter promised it was worth it. I recommend you go.

My husband and I are moving to the area soon and were looking forward to trying out this new restaurant. The parking is great, ambiance is nice, and we were seated right away. Server was a bit slow to bring us our drinks, and we were dissapointed that there was no table bread. While both of our entrees were cooked perfectly, they were both underseasoned. My husband had the hangar steak and while it looked beautiful on the plate, it lacked flavor. The sauce had no flavor. The Steak had no seasoning. The fancy fries looked beautiful on the plate, but tasted like potatoe and nothing else. We would return here with family due to the location and pricepoint, but hopefully next time they will have made some improvements.
