Menomale reviews from OpenTable diners
  • Great food, but very small

Great food, but very small space. Worth a trip over to Brookland, but make sure you come before/after busy times or make a reservation. They opened within the last year or so, but they have already outgrown their space in my opinion. I hope they have plans in the works for a bigger space in the next few years... and hopefully, still in Brookland closer to the metro. Delicious!

In my opinion, the crust on these pizzas is undercooked. I say that because when I've eaten wood-fired pizza in Italy, the crust always has great black blisters on it. My guess is that the cooking time of this pizza has been reduced to suit American palates. The result is that the texture of the pizza isn't right--it's too soft. I'd also fault the amount of toppings--every time I get arugola on my pizza, it's as if a whole salad comes out on my plate. Also, two of our pizzas came out MUCH earlier than the last one. This made eating awkward. My final complaint is that the dining room is just too small and loud to be comfortable. On the other hand, the service is eager and friendly.

Friday night dinner, crowded but the staff was accomodating. Salads and starters were teriffic, pizza was superb. Sampled several of the house cocktails, enjoyed them all!

  • First time for lunch, had

First time for lunch, had dinner here a few weeks ago, both experiences were wonderful. The dining room is small but not crowded for a 1:00 lunch on a Thursday. Salad was fresh and flavorful, pizza (topped with pesto, chicken and walnuts) was delicious. Because the dining area is so small some of the seating is actually stools, I understand why but it is not comfortable for long periods of time. My friend enjoyed her meal also. Great to have Menomale in the neighborhood, it is a real asset for the community.

Very good... although I'd not recommend the lobster pizza (personal taste).
