  • "Always enjoy a visit to the Menlo Grill at the Stanford Park Hotel. Great staff and great food. Relaxed atmosphere too!"

  • "Our sea bass and ahi tuna salad dishes were very flavorful. The Mint Chip Mud pie dessert was out of this world."

  • "Lovely venue and easy parking. Very friendly staff, and attentive and knowledgeable waiter who was always available but not obtrusive. Quiet enough to be able to have a good conversation. Perfectly cooked salmon and sea bass, nicely plated. Special was prime rib which looked delicious."

  • "Absolutely love the place and the food is perfect to my tastes"

  • "Dinner was decent and chef made a special touch to have us sample a salmon poke. Really enjoyed the tempura asparagus with lemon aioli--a MUST try! Staff was thoughtful to plate one meal on two plates, didn't have to ask, but we also didn't need it--it was thoughtful anyway, as I was traveling with my teenage daughter. The restaurant was in the midst of its bar renovation--so we'll have to come back when traveling in the area and await the updates. The resteraunt was convenient to staying at the hotel, Stanford Park Hotel, but it really wasn't a stand-out place in my opinion. In other words, a great resteraunt would have garnered my one-hour drive from the East Bay likely within the month--so, I am likely to return out of convenience!"

  • "The variety of items is typical to please out of town guests. The wine list is adequate. The food is adequate, but being in Palo Alto/Menlo Park, there are many more foodie-friendly places in immediate area. The entrees are very pricey. Consider combining sides and appetizers to make a meal for half the cost of the entrees. The children's menu was cute."

  • "The charcuterie platter was almost perfect - could have done without the rabbit and the pate wasn't interesting, but the salami and the other meat were marvelous. The pork dish was fabulous, the spaetzle, the kale, the flavors. The sea bass with broccolini was also delicious. The peanut bar for dessert is incredible. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant - you can hear well. Subtle, unobtrusive service. Lots of parking and very easy to find."

  • "a lovely room which is quiet enough to have a real conversation...rare these days. my favorite spot for a meeting which includes a meal.. excellent service without being intrusive."

  • "Pros: Appealing menu, very good food, quiet, pleasant ambience and sufficient parking. Cons: Disappointing service. Waiter asked my companion whether she wanted bread, and she didn't. I assumed he would bring bread for me since I had ordered only soup (which was a very small bowl) and salad (also very small). He never asked whether I wanted bread and never brought any. He never offered a coffee or hot water refill and never offered dessert. I would have ordered dessert if he had asked."

  • "The Bistro was a pleasant place to enjoy elegant food. We could converse comfortably with our friends without a lot of surrounding noise. All around good experience."

  • "We're regulars here. The food is good, and the service is very good. We ate in the bar b/c our table wasn't free - people like to longer here as it's very relaxing. We were fine being in the bar, but the manager gave us two complimentary appetizers by way if apology. That goes above and beyond necessary. Service was great as always."

  • "Chef trying to be too innovative. Many of the combinations just don't work. Disappointing."

  • "Love the Menlo Grill and come here fairly often. Had dinner here the other night with my parents and was once again pleased. Tommy was our Server and he was on it- very efficient, good menu knowledge, was able to make personalized recommendations, etc. Dad got the Cornish Hen again because it's his favorite and he's convinced he can learn the recipe and duplicate it. :o) I had a pasta special and it was amazing...quite possibly the best thing I've eaten here so far. Menlo Grill never disappoints and proved this fact yet again with dinner the other night."

  • "Lunched there on Feb. 5. Woman who greeted at the door was wonderful. Waiters were fine at the start and at the end, but only checked in with us once during the meal. We had to flag someone down for more beverages. Food was mixed. My fish tacos were extremely dry and dull, but the side salad was good. Another member of the party totally loved her Reuben sandwich. And the third member thought that her steak salad was "fine" and ate every bit. They generously provided a very tasty dessert of our choice to celebrate one person's birthday. Very comfortable, attractive place and I would definitely go back just for that or to the bar, which looked lovely."

  • "Food was disappointing...there for brunch and menu was limited. Ordered an omelet and it had no flavor..potatoes that came with it tasted at least a day old...toast was fine. Friend had a muffin which she said was good, but I would guess they bought it from a bakery. Her caesar salad was fine. Service was attentive and very good, as is the decor. But based on this experience I wouldn't go back."

  • "I have been a few times in the past. It keeps getting better! The Miso glazed salmon was incredible! We'll definitely return."
    Dined on 1/23/2014
  • "We ordered salads and the lettuce was old, the eggs on the Cobb undercooked and the tomatoes squishy. It took 45 minutes to get the salads and the restaurant wasn't very crowded. It was very disappointing and we won't be going back."

  • "This restaurant is so relaxing and comfortable. The service is flawless. We had the Bistro Burger, and it was perfectly done. We gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because they were so big. Oh well, we ate them anyway!"

  • "The sea bass was great. The service is prompt and very efficient. Food quantity is moderate but food quality is excellent. Noice level is moderate."

  • "Alexis was our server; he and his backup were great. The food was very good but not excellent. The oysters were ridiculously good. The table bread was pretty bland. My wife's risotto was amazing. My mom's pasta was lukewarm and just OK. My brick pressed hen was pretty good but the skin wasnt crispy like it should have been - but the sauce and sides was amazing. Desert and coffee service were great. We would go back."

  • "We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and they were especially nice to our children. They had a better-than-most children's menu as well as toys that were offered to them to play with at the table. We thought that was an extra nice touch. It was Prime Rib night, and the meat was especially delicious, as were the desserts. The atmosphere was lovely, with very comfortable chairs at the table. The only downside was that we were seated at the table closest to the door and the sound of the tv. in the other room kind of drowned out the soft music playing in the background, but other than that everything was really great! I highly recommend!"

  • "My husband and I always enjoy dining at the Menlo Grill. This time we sat by the fire in the hotel lounge for the restaurant's special Christmas menu. The food was delicious-- especially the scallops, crab salad, and chestnut soup. The lounge was cozy, comfortable and convivial."

  • "What a Delight! We had a most enjoyable evening and meal. The food was delicious and the presentation eye appealing. The staff was most accommodating. We loved the food and the time there."

  • "We were there for brunch...the waitress was fantastic! She kept checking in when our orders were delayed because of a big banquet order...after the second check in, she said our entire bill was comped because of the delay! We were happy just visiting with our friends, but they were concerned about the delay! Outstanding!"

  • "I have never been to a place that had such friendly, attentive staff. The place was filled but the noise level was not distracting. The bar is in another room which keeps the noise level down. In warmer weather people can dine in the courtyard. The decor for Christmas was outstanding."

  • "I have had lunch and dinner at the Grill a number of times, and never been disappointed with the food or service. I will continue to patronize the Grill."

  • "On Sundays the menu changes frm breakfast to brunch at 10. The Salmon Benedict was perfect. The seating is well spaced and comfortable. The room is inviting."

  • "Service was excellent. Server understood my wine questions and knew the menu. The cocktail list was very creative but our cocktails were too sweet. By-the-glass wine list a little short. Wife's salad was expertly prepared, and the amuse bouche was surprising and delightful. The entrees however were deeply flawed. My dish was all brown, and called out for some greens (salmon). Wife's dish had multiple problems, both in composition and execution (cavatelli). Easy parking. A little pricey for the errors."

  • "I met a friend for our annual birthday lunch at Menlo Grill. Not only were our meals delicious, the service was absolutely excellent. When we were reviewing the dessert menu I casually mentioned to my friend that we should indulge since it was our birthday. The waiter (A.J.) brought our dessert out and said it was on the house and wished us a Happy Birthday. It's a lovely space and the it was nice and quiet so we could talk and enjoy ourselves without yelling."

  • "I love the Menlo Grill! I come here often with my parents and was lucky enough to eat here with my Mom the other night. Service was fantastic- approachable, attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, etc. Tommy was our Server and he did a great job. It was also nice that a few other Servers/Bussers checked in on us as well. The food was fantastic, as it always is. Mom and I both ordered the Cornish Hen but had it plated with the Filet sides (mashed potatoes and green beans). We both made the comment that we should eat that well every day. :o) The Chef definitely knows what he's doing and I'm more impressed with each visit I make to the grill. Can't wait to go back for more!"

  • "Came here for Thanksgiving dinner and we were not disappointed. They had a selection of 4 entrees and we selected the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie, coffee - the traditional dinner (but they didn't have cranberry sauce so we hope they add this for 2014)! The wine list was not extensive but we found a great bottle of wine. The service was excellent - server was very professional and attentive and we were not rushed. We will definitely come back here. Also, the décor of this restaurant is very charming - hard wood floors and great bar area."

  • "We enjoyed our annual dinner to visit sitting by the window and looking out at the lighted palm trees. The room set up with some barriers and angles to separate tables helped to give a more intimate and private arrangement for our conversation. Parking and entering the dining room were awkward, though, because all parking spots were numbered. We thought, even though there were ample parking spots, that the number was for the hotel room so we rode around and around trying to find clearly marked spots for dining only. We entered the room being set up for a meeting and then tried again to find we had entered the back door. Finally, we made our way to the front where the hostess was."

  • "Menlo Grill is the go-to place for so many occasions, this time a Pre-Thanksgiving dinner for 11 people, including three children under 6 years old. The restaurant was busy, but they handled it without a hitch. Excellent, attentive service, always good food, and knowledge of how to handle kids. Food is fairly priced, atmosphere happy, and with no corkage fee it is always a good deal."

  • "Dropped in here after visiting our student at Stanford. Easy to find and convenient parking. We had four delicious meals. Pork chop was tender and juicy, lamb shank was falling off the bone in a rich wine reduction, pasta was fresh and inventive, and the Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked with a great mushroom broth that brought the whole thing together. Our wines by the glass (a Pinot Noir and Merlot) were absolutely wonderful and perfectly suited to the food. Prices reasonable for the quality of the food. Service was prompt, and friendly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and was not too noisy. A great experience, we will definitely be coming back."

  • "Have been back six times now since new chef came over last December from Madera restaurant at the Rosewood (Madera earned a Michelin Guide ranking last year). This guy knows what he is doing!!! Meals have been superb. I can see why Madera got in to Michelin Guide. Had the lamb shank this last visit. It was rich and delicious. Prior visit I had pork chop (for 2nd time) and wife had prime rib (a Sunday special). Both were excellent. Food doesn't get much better than this. Service has been very good, too. What's more, parking is easy and they charge no corkage!! Highly recommended."
