A word from Melrose Grill
Renton’s Finest Foods Since 1901!

* Steakhouse voted #1 Western WA in 2010

* Affordable high quality menu

*Historic Landmark in Renton

The building in which the Melrose Grill resides was established in 1901 and has served as a tavern since the days of the horse and buggy. It also operated as a pool hall, soda shop and card room during Prohibition. Recently restored, Melrose Grill kept its historic roots with the original mirror-backed bar with its rich, dark woods. The walls showcase vintage photos that highlight the transitions this grand building has gone through. With wainscoting on the walls, low-slung lamps and high ceilings the space feels as open as the West was when it was built. The Food and Service at Melrose Grill will amaze and delight your senses. We work hard to provide our customers with the finest foods available, and prepare them in a way that will tame even most particular palate. Voted #1 Steakhouse in Western WA by King 5 & Evening Ma.

OH MY! I shared a meal with my husband and close friend the other night. Two of us had the Prime Sirloin...there is a reason they call it Prime...and it was cooked to perfection - had it Oscar style...with a little asparagus, scallops, crab in Oscar sauce on top...and oooo...I'm salivating just thinking about it. They had 6 fresh specials that night. one of us had the T-bone stake with crusty Parmesan potatoes - little clouds of cheesy potato goodness! Absolutely no room for desert and had to take everything home for breakfast the next day. Just the kind of shot in the arm dining experience we were hoping for. The Melrose Grill never lets us down.

The food was fantastic! I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the ribeye - seasoned and cooked perfectly! The ONLY thing that I wish the Melrose offered was an appetizer menu - or a soup selection. I personally like to start with a small appetizer and then have my dinner. But all in all - fantastic place and we'll definitely be going back.

For this two-party reservation, the restaurant chose to place them near a busy door near the bathroom. Far from ideal when celebrating a special birthday. This was a truly disappointing situation and should not even have been an option for table placement.

This place has been around for a long time. They have the best cut meats in the area. Old style saloon building has a lot of personality. The place is packed every day of the week during dinner. Suggest making reservations or sit at the "old school" bar. My favorite...rib eye steak. The other cuts are also lovely. Making this place my monthly dinner stop.

There were three of us. Got there right when the doors opened. I got the porterhouse steak. Tasted great but way too much bone for the price. Won't do that again. The other two people both got fish dishes. Neither ate much of their meals. They didn't turn out the way they were discribed. The vegetables were ordinary. It's the second time I've been there and I would say that the steaks taste great but are terribly over priced and as far as everything else on the menu, those dishes are better and cheaper at a lot of other restraunts. Don't think I'll be going back again. Bummer.

Was looking for a great steak place not in Seattle. The reviews for Melrose Grill did not disappoint! We were celebrating a birthday and the birthday "boy" loves steak. The two of us ordered different steaks & were pleasantly surprised! So much flavor & so tender! The whole meal was delicious, as was the drink I ordered. Although we wre full to the brim, we each ordered dessert and the manager brought out the birthday "boy's" dessert w/a lit candle on top! We had the best server who was very friendly & knowledgeable. Did I mention that I made the reservation through Open Table about 2 hrs prior to sitting down to order? Will be back, for sure!

We decided to stay in the south end to celebrate a friends birthday. She wanted a steak and we decided this would be a great spot for her to get what she wanted. They handle meats extremely well. The sides- well the Parmesan potatoes and the vegetables need a little less cooking time, but the asparagus was grilled beautifully. We also enjoyed and fought a spoon battle over the pecan caramel crusted creme brulee.

We don't eat out a lot but Melrose Grill is our go to place when we do. Been dining there since 2004. Seated on time, a little menu variety always with addition of special menu items, but if you tend to stick to the same kind of steak or other item, it's available. Consistently, quality and service. Simply, a great dining experience in a small cozy neighborhood place.

Worst dinner experience ever!!!! The food presentation was equal to boot camp and our steaks where delivered raw even after we ordered them medium well and well done. We drove 50 miles round trip to have something off their special list we found on line. Our waiter informed us that they NEVER update their specials on line nor do they update their menu on line so be informed what you see is not what you get. Next time maybe we will do Applebes where we can count on a real meal for the price.

My husband likes well done steaks. Our waiter suggested he get the rib eye since it is more marbled and will be juicier, not dry. He was so right. That's the first time anyone has ever made that suggestion! The food was excellent as was the service and friendliness of the staff. Even though it was busy, our waiter took time to chat with us and take a picture for us!Relaxed atmosphere. Did not feel rushed at all.

Why did I wait 6 months to visit this place? I live about 3 blocks away, and I can't believe that I could have been enjoying the best steak I've ever eaten in my life on a weekly basis rather than drive up to Seattle in search of the perfect steakhouse. I am a bona fide foodie who has lived in about 7 different states, and from the east coast to the west coast this food is the best food that I've eaten in a long time. There is a terrific wine list and an assortment of desserts to choose from as well as several main entrees to appease everyone's culinary preferences. Even the grilled vegetables (which are usually a throwaway at most restaurants) were amazing. I am delighted to have found Melrose and highly recommend it. Bravo Melrose!

a friend asked me for a nice place to eat at, I said is this for you and your wife and he said yes. I said the best place to get a steak in the immediate area for the amount of money the quality of service and food and experience there's only one place I'll recommend that is Melrose grill. I follow that up by saying if you and your wife go there and if any part of it is not up to par for what I say it is and it is excellent all of it please give me the check and I'll pay your bill. I never saw the check and I hear if they go there at least once every other month date a romantic dinner

Melrose grill is small, we were seated in front of the bathroom, in the middle of the room…akward spot very uncomfortable. Not a great first impression of the place. Food was great but I wouldn't mind waiting an extra 10-15 mins for a better table to open up, since our waitress took 20 mins just to get our drink order. The waitress was very knowledgable and sweet, but seemed a little overwhelmed or busy. I will return to the restaurant, hopefully we will have a better experience, but definately recommending the food!!

My wife commented that what she would like is a nice juicy steak. The first thing that came to mind was the Melrose. We hadn't been there for a long time, so why not now. We joined the 5 PM lineup outside, awaiting the doors opening. Even though there were enough diners to nearly fill the place, our service was pretty quick. that speaks well to the organization in the kitchen. When done, she pronounced herself pleased with.

We love Melrose Grill. To be honest, it's near the high end of the kind of restaurant that we eat in with respect to expense (we're people of modest means). But it's totally worth it -- well-seasoned, well-prepared steaks with excellent, generous sides. The Parmesan potatoes are a must. The atmosphere is lively and casual; it doesn't have the elegance or the view of Daniel's in Bellevue, but it also doesn't carry the cost or the pretense, and the food is at least equal in our experience. Our flourless chocolate cake was excellent as well. You'll want to have a reservation -- just showing up can result in a LONG wait. We parked on the street, which was easy to do.

This place has the best steaks in the Seattle area. My favorite is their rib eye, the flavor is amazing. The 3" thick size of your whole hand fillet is pretty good also. The size of the portions are large plenty for two. It's been around since 1901 and the only drawback is that it's small and vary popular, reservations are almost a must, walk-ins expect a 90 minute wait.

I had high expectations of Melrose Grill after reading the reviews on Yelp, etc. I was pleased that the restaurant felt like a traditional steakhouse on the east coast. The Porterhouse steak was huge and the Pork Medallion was excellent - I loved every bite. I will be returning to Melrose Grill to tryout the rest of their menu.

Quite possibly the best steak we have ever had. Very succulent. I like mine rare so you can't hide inferior beef under a medium or well done label. When we like it red and cool, we carnivore's know when we are having a superior cut of beef cooked by experts. Here is a suggestion: I had a baked potato because I always have a baked potato with steak. Your servers need to insist on bringing out a sample of your parmesan red bliss potatoes before allowing the customer to order just a baked potato. My husband ordered the parmesan potatoes and there was a little marital discord when I wanted to swap him my baked potato for his little gems from heaven.

A friend recommended this place - said it was the best steak he's ever had for a great deal. Yes, their prices are very reasonable, but I've had better steak. It lacked flavor, that's all. Not steak related, but they gave my bf a 3 month old beer (from the Super Bowl). Our server was very dull, seemed like she hated her job. She didn't even check up on us after we got our food or even refill our water. We tried to call for reservations, but they seem to not know how to pick up a phone - we called ~5 times. Thank god for OpenTable app. I may give this another try, maybe it was just an off day.
