A word from Melrose Grill
Renton’s Finest Foods Since 1901!

* Steakhouse voted #1 Western WA in 2010

* Affordable high quality menu

*Historic Landmark in Renton

The building in which the Melrose Grill resides was established in 1901 and has served as a tavern since the days of the horse and buggy. It also operated as a pool hall, soda shop and card room during Prohibition. Recently restored, Melrose Grill kept its historic roots with the original mirror-backed bar with its rich, dark woods. The walls showcase vintage photos that highlight the transitions this grand building has gone through. With wainscoting on the walls, low-slung lamps and high ceilings the space feels as open as the West was when it was built. The Food and Service at Melrose Grill will amaze and delight your senses. We work hard to provide our customers with the finest foods available, and prepare them in a way that will tame even most particular palate. Voted #1 Steakhouse in Western WA by King 5 & Evening Ma.

Once again the food and service were excellent. We have never had an improperly cooked steak at the Melrose. Perfection everytime. Consistent good food, good service, every time -- have you ever been out to dinner and 3 out of 4 dinners are cooked correctly and one person has to sit there waiting for their redo meal while everyone else eats? You won't EVER have this happen to your dinner party at the Melrose! They charge a modest $15 corkage fee if you bring your own wine even though the Melrose has a substantial list of wine offerings from modestly priced to top wineries! Enjoy.

My sister raved about this place and recommended we go, and since we live less than 10 minutes away we figured we should. This was our last official "date night" before having our first child. What a great find, especially in the midst of downtown Renton which is mostly older dive-y places. It's not overly fancy (no dress code), but still elegant enough to dress up and not feel weird. The service is great, super-friendly staff. And my steak was AMAZING. I had the rib-eye, and I want to go back and try the filet, porterhouse, heck even the top sirloin. Great flavor. Will definitely go back when we're due for a fancy-ish dinner night!

We have gone to Melrose Grill on numerous occasions for dinner and have had great experiences there every time. Service is always attentive but not overbearing and the food is excellent. Always have some good specials on the menu and a great place to take out of town business guests because it is not your usual "chain restaurant" atmosphere and food. We will go many more times!

I had filet mignon, my husband the Delmonico. Didn't ask for sauce on them. My husband had 2 pieces of steak he couldn't eat, had to remove them. He had to put quite a bit of salt/pepper on it for flavor and still it didn't have much. His garlic mashed potatoes had an "odd" flavor so barely touched those. Delmonico has bone in, it should have had a lot of flavor. My filet mignon started to have flavor on about the 3rd bite. But it wasn't savor-in-my-mouth flavor. My Parmesan potatoes were different & good. We are surprised by the high score with Best of the Northwest to be honest. We ate at El Gaucho's a few days ago, Melrose doesn't come close. Maybe people in the neighborhood like it for other food, but steak wasn't couldn't be it.

We have eaten at the Melrose before and loved it. Dinner was for my mother's 92nd birthday, which I noted on Open Table when I made the reservation. Our table for 6 was waiting for us and close to the door which was appreciated as Mom uses a walker. The candle on Mom's birthday dessert was nice. Our server was great and knowledgeable. I was surprised how busy it was given it was a Monday night and the Seahawks were playing. Food good. The Birthday girl had left over salmon for the next day so she was a happy camper.

My husband and I, along with our teenage daughter, celebrated our 13 year wedding anniversary here on Monday, 9/29, night. Everything was amazing....the cocktails, the salads, the warm bread on the table, the wine pairing our server recommended with dinner and the STEAKS! Melt in your mouth, cooked to perfection, flavor party for your mouth watering good! Portion explosion, but great leftovers and the prices are reasonable for an all-inclusive meal of salad, potato or rice options and a fresh vegetable, as opposed to an all ala carte menu. Our server elevated the experience so much that we said we wish we could come here every Monday! Probably not that frequently, but we will be back for sure!

The steaks are better than the Metropolitan Grill for 1/2 the price. I have eaten at both places in the last six months at least twice so it was not a one time thing. At the Met you have more ambience and the see and be seen crowd. The Melrose has really good food, great drinks and service.

Instead spending money on drinks and appetizers, this restaurant thought it better not to seat us while we waited for another couple to join us. While I understand this policy for large parties, for small parties it is nothing but pretentious. True class establishments do not make you wait. On top of this, the hostesses did their absolute best to make us feel unwelcome. Even with outstanding food, a competent bartender and an above average waitress, I cannot recommend this place.

OH MY! I shared a meal with my husband and close friend the other night. Two of us had the Prime Sirloin...there is a reason they call it Prime...and it was cooked to perfection - had it Oscar style...with a little asparagus, scallops, crab in Oscar sauce on top...and oooo...I'm salivating just thinking about it. They had 6 fresh specials that night. one of us had the T-bone stake with crusty Parmesan potatoes - little clouds of cheesy potato goodness! Absolutely no room for desert and had to take everything home for breakfast the next day. Just the kind of shot in the arm dining experience we were hoping for. The Melrose Grill never lets us down.

The food was fantastic! I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the ribeye - seasoned and cooked perfectly! The ONLY thing that I wish the Melrose offered was an appetizer menu - or a soup selection. I personally like to start with a small appetizer and then have my dinner. But all in all - fantastic place and we'll definitely be going back.

This place has been around for a long time. They have the best cut meats in the area. Old style saloon building has a lot of personality. The place is packed every day of the week during dinner. Suggest making reservations or sit at the "old school" bar. My favorite...rib eye steak. The other cuts are also lovely. Making this place my monthly dinner stop.

There were three of us. Got there right when the doors opened. I got the porterhouse steak. Tasted great but way too much bone for the price. Won't do that again. The other two people both got fish dishes. Neither ate much of their meals. They didn't turn out the way they were discribed. The vegetables were ordinary. It's the second time I've been there and I would say that the steaks taste great but are terribly over priced and as far as everything else on the menu, those dishes are better and cheaper at a lot of other restraunts. Don't think I'll be going back again. Bummer.

Was looking for a great steak place not in Seattle. The reviews for Melrose Grill did not disappoint! We were celebrating a birthday and the birthday "boy" loves steak. The two of us ordered different steaks & were pleasantly surprised! So much flavor & so tender! The whole meal was delicious, as was the drink I ordered. Although we wre full to the brim, we each ordered dessert and the manager brought out the birthday "boy's" dessert w/a lit candle on top! We had the best server who was very friendly & knowledgeable. Did I mention that I made the reservation through Open Table about 2 hrs prior to sitting down to order? Will be back, for sure!

We decided to stay in the south end to celebrate a friends birthday. She wanted a steak and we decided this would be a great spot for her to get what she wanted. They handle meats extremely well. The sides- well the Parmesan potatoes and the vegetables need a little less cooking time, but the asparagus was grilled beautifully. We also enjoyed and fought a spoon battle over the pecan caramel crusted creme brulee.

We don't eat out a lot but Melrose Grill is our go to place when we do. Been dining there since 2004. Seated on time, a little menu variety always with addition of special menu items, but if you tend to stick to the same kind of steak or other item, it's available. Consistently, quality and service. Simply, a great dining experience in a small cozy neighborhood place.
