A word from Meigas Restaurant & Tapas
Meigas, (Galician for sorceresses), located in Norwalk, CT, offers a menu complete with Galician specialties, various paellas, and tapas.

In Spain, the favorite subject is food. While we are enjoying our lunch we are planning our next meal, and before bed we plan our next meal almost savoring the next day meal. In our restaurant, Meigas, we try to share this passion for food to our customers. Meigas is a very special Spanish restaurant, where the traditional and the modern fuse in a coherent way. While traditional flavors are kept, we use new techniques, reflecting the new culinary revolution and, where flavors and aromas play, a very important role in the creation of our dishes. Our Mission is to share the hospitality, innate at the Spanish culture, centered in our gastronomy working together with a professional service.

Meigas Restaurant & Tapas reviews from OpenTable diners
  • We like the low-key but elegant

We like the low-key but elegant setting. The staff is very professional. And the food is consistently good. Five of us shared 4 tapas and then each had an entree and we were full. I particularly recommend the suckling pig, the short rib, and while I did not have it myself, the paella looked fabulous.

We had the Roast Suckling Pig, which was perfectly prepared with crispy skin. The Spanish wine was an excellent accompaniment. For dessert we did the Tour of Spain taster, which was just the right amount to share with two people, and delicious to the last bite. The service is attentive but never intrusive. I go here several times a year for special meals and always find it consistently great.

The food was OK, tasty but not outstanding. Portions were uneven: my salmon with spinach was substantial and filling but my husband had exactly 6 clams in sauce. We did use a coupon and so ate from a special menu, but still, portions were uneven. The restaurant was empty when we arrived 7:30 on a Thursday, and one other couple arrived before we left. The staff were very friendly & attentive. Overall it was a nice experience but nothing outstanding to return for.

Went for dinner Saturday night; pretty dining room, although the entrance is on the side street not on Wall, over which the large windows look. Very good crusty bread with olive oil for dipping to accompany meal. We had a goat cheese salad and a salad with spanish ham, onions, etc. as an appetizer, both large and fairly priced; dinner included a scallop dish and a short rib dish, each tasty. The online menu and the one in the restaurant were very different however, although the prices were lower in person, which was good. Excellent sangria, overall service friendly and efficient although getting the check at the end took too long.

This is a great restaurant. Most importantly, the noise lever is such that we are able to enjoy our food. Somehow, it tastes better when we can hear.

We dined on a Friday evening at 7 pm. One of earlier patrons there it seemed. The wait staff are courteous and diligent. Service is good. We ordered gazpacho(interesting and different from most) baby squid (very good) and suckling pig and paella. flan for dessert. Main course: Suckling pig was dry. Paella has good flavor yet the rice was under cooked. Dessert: flan is firmer than usual. Fair I would say. The price for the entire meal is $100. I thought it was too high for the quality of the food. Surprisingly Plaij coffe is quite expensive there.

Been here many times and never have been disappointed. A large (12)noisy (birthday party) table was seated in the center of the restaurant. Their noise would have drowned any dinner conversation at our table. The host graciously moved us to a quieter table but probably should have seated the group in the private dinning room for everyone's comfort. Chocolate souffle was under-done

My dining partner and I have been to Meigas a few times, and every time we go, the restaurant is completely empty. As in, we're the only people there other than the waitstaff. I'm not sure how they manage to stay in business, but I'm so glad they still are. We do dine a little later in the evening, so I'm assuming they have a big lunch and/or early dinner crowd? We are always surprised how big the tapas servings are - we can easily order two tapas each and have more than enough food - with leftovers. We've never tried the entrees because the tapas are amazing. Sometimes they have a prix fixe menu that is a great deal. A side note - this place has the best sangria I've ever had. Definitely get this when you're here.

  • Excellent Spanish Dining Experience
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 2/14/2012
Compared to our other regular Spanish restaurant, Meigas was much more low-key and intimate. The food was OUTSTANDING ... if you like pork, I encourage you to try the suckling pig entree. Pure bliss. Also delicious: the venison carpaccio and the beef short rib. Wine list is succinct, yet offers good range. The sangria is has a very refreshing lime flavor ... can't wait to come back and have some while sitting outside on the patio. Service was attentive and quick.

We love this restaurant. It's a little on the expensive side, but we minimized that by splitting an appetizer and dessert. Service was lovely and helpful--even remade our martinis when they weren't dry, as we'd asked for. Paella was perfect--moist with a bite and fresh seafood. Great spot.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

The food at Meigas is excellent. The restaurant has a long history in the area, having opened in 1989. There have been a couple of owners, but each owner has kept up the tradition of excellence. It is a little difficult to find the entrance to the restaurant, but the parking is free and abundant, directly across the street from the main entrance to Meigas. The table settings and general ambience are very attractive, and it is quiet enough to enjoy a real conversation with your fellow diners. The management and wait staff are both well trained and personable.

A friend suggested it and it was great. My only complaint is that I don't eat a lot of seafood and we went for Tapas on New Year's Eve and 90% of the tapas were seafood. I had the salad with goat cheese, but there were not a lot of options other than that if you do not eat seafood. Restaurant staff was very attentive and friendly. They even brought a glass of Port for each of us at dessert time.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

We went to Meigas on a Saturday evening in December. Garland, wreaths and twinkling lights were up for the holidays, making for a festive atmosphere. Our food was excellent, especially the seafood. However, the prices were exhorbitant for Norwalk - I would've exepected these prices in Manhattan. The problem for us was extremely SLOW service. We were seated just before 7:30, but didn't receive our check until 3 hours later, when we finally had to track down our waiter and ask for it. We also had to ask for our order to be taken, for water glasses to be refilled, and more. Pretty much everything had to be asked for. At such exhorbitant prices, the service should be impeccable.

Besides the beyond slow service and the terrible abba music playing, the food itself was good. We tried a bunch of different items, for appetizers the calamari salad was not good (totally bland) but everything else was tasty. The duck stuffed peppers were the best. For dinner we liked the short rib and the suckling pig, the suckling pig being the winner overall. Do the pre-fixe menu, it's an amazing deal.
