Parsis, are a small community in India around 70,000 people who follow the Zoroastrian religion. These Zoroastrians migrated from Persia to India during the muslim conquest, and through the years retained their unique identity. A word from Mehtaphor
Mehtaphor offers a menu inspired by Asian urban tastes and scents and wrapped in Jehangir Mehta's singular chef voice. There's a point of view here and a chef who touches every dish. The restaurant has several intimate dining areas, including a dessert-cocktail bar, a tiny loungy dining area, a true cocktail bar, a time worn wooden communal table. The entire restaurant is awash in glass frontage.

The clean, modern shell is accented by warm golden print fabric on banquettes (with little cubbyholes for purses, bags, briefcases, whatnot...), intricate wooden shutters half way up the expansive windows.

Mehtaphor plans to stay accessible with a menu of $7, $12 and $15 plates; and a wine list of $30-45 bottles and $9-10. From January 2011 a special "Gastro-Kids After School" menu will be available from 2.45 p.m. to 4.45 p.m. which will be more educational than expensive.
