  • "We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday at Megu after looking for a truly special place to eat. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Our waiter, Lorenzo, was very knowledgeable about the menu and easily answered any questions we had. The atmosphere was very relaxing and romantic. At no point did we feel rushed. I had noted on Open Table that we were celebrating a birthday and when my boyfriend's dessert was brought to the table, the plate had "Happy BIrthday" written in chocolate & there was a candle in the whipped cream. We would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to others & look forward to returning soon!"

  • "Went for the Kobe Experience, sorry the Kobe Sirloin was no different if not worse than any sirloin you would get at a fine steak house at a 1/3 of the price very tough piece of meat . The sushi was good. The sliced Kobe Appetizer on a stone was good. Service was very slow took 2 hours for appetizer and dinner the place was not that busy and it was a Wednesday night . Took 40 minutes just to get a bottle of Sake to the table asked for it warm came cold by that time parched so we took it cold we literally sat at the table with nothing but water for 40 minutes! , at $150.00 plus a head not even close to meeting its mark."

  • "Tried the upstairs bar area (alternative) restaurant. The kobe beef burgers are first rate--but the atmosphere is nothing special and the service was unimpressive. If you have an urge for Megu, go to the regular downstairs restauran,t which is indeed special--but if you have an urge for a top notch burger and fries, and don't care much about the rest, then this is a good choice."

We were originally shown to the super cool downstairs area, but apparently they only serve the kobe burger upstairs in the bar area, so that was a letdown. The service was inattentive and the food was sort of bland, surprisingly."

  • "Had the Guilt City deal for Sushi Omakase and treated my friend to a bday dinner with it. My friend and I never had the experience of having the sushi tasting menu Chef's choice and honestly at times I didn't know what to do but I was very pleased with the whole experience. The server was attentive and watching the sushi chef make our sushi/sashimi as well as others was very interesting. The food was very yummy and I actually tried other types of fish/seafood I probably wouldn't freely try on my own. I don't remember all the different types of sashimi but some notable was baby squid, torched mackerel, sea urchin, etc and we had the typical salmon, tuna, yellowtail, etc."

  • "My experience at this restaurant was great! I went during restaurant week and was able to enjoy this restaurant for a much more reasonable price than it normally is. The Kobe beef is to die for!!! It truly melts in your mouth. The restaurant paired sake with the restaurant week menu which was great. The ambience of the restaurant is great. The eating area is intimate and dimly lit. It was perfect for date night with my husband. The staff was great. Drinks are pricey at the bar, but that was to be expected for drinks in the city. All in all, the food was great and we had a great dining experience."

However, I didn't feel that the restaurant decoration and ambience were very elegant, so it was a bit disappointing. The bar where they had us wait (almost 45 minutes after my reservation...) is not well-decorated (it feels a bit fake). Go for the food not the ambience:)"

  • "The restaurant is very well decorated. The setup with welcoming and the hostesses very pleasant. The food was very good however the portions were far too small. It is always a shame when you go to a nice restaurant, fork out several hundred $$$ only to have to go to the McDonalds on the way home since you are still very hungry. The waiters were attentive however I really despise it when they automatically include their own 20% gratuity in the bill. For these reasons I shan't be dining here ever again."

  • "Went to Megu for my son's birthday and wasn't disappointed. Service was good. We requested and received a booth. Everyone took pictures of the ice buddha in the center. One of the few places when the Restaurant Week menu is actually a real value. We all enjoyed our food, which was very refined. They didn't rush us. My husband complained that portions were small (he expected a big piece of steak) but it's not uncommon to leave Japanese restaurants still hungry. Desserts were delicious. We all ordered different things and enjoyed our selections. Would go back for a special occasion (not with my husband though) or with a guest from out of town."

  • "My friends and I have been meaning to try Megu for a long time and restaurant week was the perfect time to go. The Wagyu and Hon Maguro Sushi Tasting Platter was delicious. Crispy asparagus was such a yummy surprise - cooked perfectly with a wonderful crunch. To top it off, the service was great. I have a large leg brace on due to an accident and the staff were so kind, courteous and conscious of my needs. It made the experience so much more than just a meal with great friends. I will definitely come back to Megu."

  • "I have been to megu many times but was a little disappointed this last time. The lounge area was a little run down. We were graciously invited to relax in the lounge until our table was ready and quickly offered drinks (not that great) and were soon brought to our table (had to carry our own drinks). Our server was not great. We asked for a substitute on a dish that she forgot and we ordered two sushi rolls that she forgot to order. We were brought extra sushi to make up for the substitution and we weren't charged for the rolls, Also, we ordered two jasmine teas ($10 each) when three of us could have shared one. There was a wonderful gentleman who helped us with a sparkling sake selection and answered a few menu questions for us."

  • "I came to megu for the restaurant week special but did not feel like a regular customer. It was poor seating and the waiter rushed me and my guest and didn't give eye contact or smile once. Seemed as if me and my guest were a burden to him. If you don't want a special in your restaurant then just don't have one. The food was delicious and we were served quickly, but I don't think I'll go back anytime soon"

  • "Seemed to have one waiter for tons of tables. Had to ask for our sake bottle three times. Food order was messed up, i..e forgot one of the appetizers. Had to pour water and sake ourselves the whole evening. For $400 a head, you'd expect way, way, way more. Not to mention that I lost something at the restaurant which, after two calls and being assured I would get a call back, I have yet to hear from them two days later. There are dozens of places in the City that serve as good/better food and make the dining experience worthwhile. I had a similar experience the first time I dined there and decided I would not come back for the same reasons. Should have done just that. Stay away!"

  • "The food was not as good as it used to be.. The tuna tartare was very fishy. Tastes like tuna fish from a can. The waiter was to busy socializing and taking care of bigger tables to notice the smaller ones... The busboys were trying their best to help the smaller tables around us."
