Diner Reviews
  • "I've been to this restaurant several times over the last 2 years and have always loved it, but this weekend I ate 2 less than stellar meals here. First I had dinner at the restaurant and the food was good as it always is. The next day I went for breakfast (since I was staying at the hotel) and had a horrible experience. We waited almost 20 minutes for a table in an EMPTY restaurant. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed even though there were only a handful of tables with customers. It took a very long time to get our food and our mimosas. We ordered another round of drinks when our food showed up and we were finished eating way before they showed up. This restaurant has 4 Star potential and food, but the service is 1 star at best."

  • "We are regulars, being there last month for July 4th dinner. The service this time was on the slow to poor side. We were seated on the patio and sat for several minutes, I had to ask the manager who was walking by if we could please be served. The waiter was very nice but he really didn't seem to either have the time or want to spend much of it with us. When the salads came I didn't have a knife. I asked the buss boy for one, he never brought it and I had to borrow someone else's. I also asked the bus boy for some more coke, but it never came. I had the Rib Eye steak in July, and it was good. The steak this time was a much nicer cut, but it was spiced with some spices it could have done without. It was cumin or chili powder, yuk!"

  • "Stopped in for dinner while away on business and had a very nice dinner. Their half price bottle Mondays are a great deal."

  • "We were pretty aggravated by the general inattention last time we dined here, we shouldn't have come back again. After providing us with water, the waiter disappeared forever. After he took the wine order, he was gone again, finally surfacing with the excuse that they didn't have my choice of white anymore. The red was extremely warm, do they store it next to the stove? After the starters were served, there was another unconscionable wait. In general, the food was very good although the vegetable accompaniment to my pork chop was too salty, and I like salty. The restaurant has a bad combination of high ambient noise and over large tables. If you are in a group of six, you will only be close enough to hear half of the table."

  • "Having eaten here twice now, I think the food is very good but service can be spotty. Definitely nice to eat outside"

  • "Great ambiance and food but we booked on open table & they never our res. had to call to book again and asked to sit outside. Showed up and they said never got our note to sit outside and hostess not friendly at all."

  • "Had a reservation for 3. Sat on the patio which has a great ambience and was not crowded. Service started slowly but turned out to be spot on with good timing for food delivery, great half price bottle of wine on Mondays...can't go wrong with that! Great experience plus the waiter brought out 2 deserts for us at no charge. I'm local and have eaten here many times previously and will continue to frequent them. I've seen posts about poor service...if this begins to happen to you, get up and let them know, they'll make things right for you."

  • "Food great. Service very bad. The restaurant wasn't full. If the service was as good as the food they could justify the prices."

  • "Seriously one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Recommended by a friend we trust we were not disappointed. All the food was fresh, light, well seasoned and artfully presented, even the caprese salad was a beautiful composition of heirloom tomatoes both big and small with the most delicious mozzarella and olive oil. Service was great and the restaurant was very busy, always a good sign. We will definitely return often."

  • "Food and service were overall very good although it took a while to get waited on at first because they were busy. However, once our waiter got there he was very attentive and helpful. Food was excellent. I had the sea bass which was the best I have had and I've had a lot of sea bass."

  • "This was not a godo experience. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs which should be a pretty simple order. My pasta arrived cold, and my meatballs tasted like they were still frozen in the middle. The lady in the table next to us ordered the SAME thing, and had the exact same complaint. The pasts tasted like a can of prego poured over noodles.. No flavor. Not impressed at all."

  • "I'm tempted to give the food 5 stars because some of the dishes were outstanding, however others were a contrasted disappointment. We went for starters & wine. The Burrata&Snap Peas dish is a unique and mouth watering combination, I definitely recommend this. We also ordered their Arancini, which was a nice take on the classic dish. The Pan Plano Mediterraneo and the Apple Crumble Pie were where we were disappointed though. The Pan Plano should be listed under the salads and explained that it is not actually a flatbread, it is more like a paper thin crispy cracker with salad. Arugula is always great on its own, but nothing else was really going right with that dish. Apple Crumble was just raw and soggy! Awesome ambiance overall though :)"

  • "We had an excellent meal. But the service was slow, had to ask for things multiple times and the waiter a bit too familiar. waited way too long to get the check and a coffee refill was never offered. Just not what it should be and they were not that busy."

  • "Cant go wrong with this place. The finest food and great scenic view outside by the water."

  • "We had reservations and were seated promptly. However, after that, it all went down hill. Our server was odd. She complained the minute we sat down about her schedule and other restaurant events. We made a wine selection and she kept trying to up-sell us to a higher priced wine and then winced when we stayed with our original choice. We ordered an appetizer that came about 30 minutes later. We placed our dinner order and never saw our server again until we complained 45 minutes later that our 2 entrees had still not arrived. The manager came out and apologized and said our food would be out shortly - it had never been submitted to the kitchen. 10 minutes later we asked for the bill and left. Rude and unaccommodating staff. We left hungry."

  • "Had forgotten how expensive food was (in line w/ Grill on the Alley), but with that in mind it was very good. Had the double cut pork chop, very moist. Hubby had the steak cooked to perfection. We switched our sides as he does not like asparagus. I love it, but wished it wasn't so big (only got two stalks) and woody. I think we got the worst table in the place even though there were open tables (empty the whole time), would have thought having a reservation would not put us RIGHT next to the servers station. We had servers walking right up behind us placing their orders, getting water and silverware out of the drawer. I must have closed that drawer 5 times during dinner. Felt we had to lean out of the way so they could do their job."

  • "We have dined at Mediterraneo many times and the food is always delicious. Being frequent diners, we would ask that the restaurant consider adding some new/different choices to the menu. The specials offered just aren't enough for those of us who go to the restaurant frequently. The service was impeccable and I highly recommend, for indoor dining, that you request the second room rather than dining in the first section - it's MUCH quieter."

  • "Food was wonderful and our server was great. We had a small issue with one of our dishes and the manager took care of us and we ordered 3 desserts and they graciously comped one of them. Would definitely return."

  • "They service, food and general ambience were great. 3 out of 4 people at our booth were over 6 feet, and they gave us maybe the smallest booth I have ever been in. we were very cramped, but the rest was very good. Just don't get the last booth by the window."

  • "We have dined at Mediterraneo several times in the past 2 or 3 years. The service has always been excellent, the food truly great and the atmosphere is relaxing, but still pretty lively. The steaks are great and the artichoke appetizer is a winner!"

  • "Took my friend here for her birthday. Everything was perfect and the staff great. Had a wonderful shady table outside and was a beautiful day. I had a wonderful salad. My friend enjoyed her day. Open table was perfect with the reservation. I had mentioned it was my friends birthday and they brought a dessert with sparkler on it."

  • "Lovely location but the food was average. In particular the "wood-fired" artichokes had no wood fired flavor, and although visually trimmed to the heart had many tough inedible leaves."

  • "Smallish portions, but the food and service were very good."

  • "Everything was perfect except I ordered my Rib Eye steak rare and it came out medium. Major mistake for a restuarant of this caliber and price. Everything else was very good, the service was better than normal and we enjoyed our evening and if we were'nt going to a show I would have sent the steak back to be done correctly."

  • "First visit to Mediterraneo for Sunday Brunch and it was enjoyable. The menu choices were good but the food (at least mine) was just so-so. It was an egg scramble and wasn't warm which detracted from its flavor. The fruit served with it was the same old tired melon mixture with a strawberry thrown in for color. I especially do not like crunchy, unripe melon and that's what I got. Server was lovely, took time to snap a few pictures of my group of 4, and she was attentive to our needs. All in all, I would definitely return. I like the restaurant and its location and have enjoyed lunch and dinner there on several occasions (last Christmas Eve being one of them)."

  • " Mediterraneo is an energetic restaurant with delicious food, excellent service, and a terrific ambience. My family and I enjoyed the lamb appetizer, wedge and Caesar salads, as well as the brick chicken and steak frites entrees. Wines by the glass were nice and prices were reasonable. This is an excellent choice for a tasty dinner with a wonderful view when in Westlake Village."

  • "Our waiter was very good; busboys were ill-trained as in many other SoCal restaurants. Reaching in front of one guest to serve the other; asking who gets which dish (they should know before getting to the table); not noticing empty water glasses; not replacing cleared off utensils and bread plates; picking up too early or leaving dirty dishes on the table. Kudos for management for giving us a nice free dessert for our special occasion we celebrated. Nice outdoor ambience too."

  • "This was a great way to celebrate my friend. We ate outside and it was lovely. The staff is the best and they treat you like royalty. It is one of my favorite places in Westlake Village because of the outdoor dining option."

  • "The restaurant is between a wine garden and night club, smack in the middle. Valet parking was great. Atmosphere was great. Portions were smaller than expected. Service was great, even the GM came by to ask how the evening was. I'd go back again definitely."

  • "We took my Mom and Step Dad here to celebrate a belated Father's Day. The waitress was excellent. She was funny, engaging, very knowledgeable about the menu and successfully recommended wines based on our preferences. I loved that we weren't interrupted very 10 minutes but that she definitely had an eye on us for when we needed refills or plates removed. Over all it was an excellent experience, as it has been every time we've dined here. I would not hesitate to bring clients here or other family/friends. Thank you for a gorgeous experience!"

  • "Was disappointed. Took forever to get some bread delivered to table! Waiter stated $3. add'l charge to split the two entrees we ordered if kitchen splits it. we agreed but it turned out to be $3. for each dish!! I complained and mgr removed one $3.00 charge. My fish came too well done and new piece was reordered. Too many other places to try and I probably will not return."

  • "We sat on the patio facing the water, heavenly!! Service was great, but strangely we had to ask for bread twice, usually bread and tapenade come out right away. All the food was great. The Brick chicken was delicious, the seasoning was great. The sole special was excellent and both the Rustica salad and Arancini were delicious too. Would definitely return. We were there at 5pm and hopefully the service will be as attentive later in the evening. Love that I got 1000 pts with open table!!!"

  • "The bread is warm & crusty, soft on the inside, very airy, perfect for the tapenade served with it. The wood grilled artichoke hearts served with aioli have such a hint of char and are served with a grilled lemon half. It is consistently good each time I order it. I tasted the locally caught grilled sea bass served on a bed of artichoke and potato hash and it was delicious also. My husband and I shared the 12 oz. Ribeye steak with chimichurri sauce. It came cooked medium rare just as ordered and was flavorful and tender. The soft-shell crab salad which has a light dressing, watermelon radishes and avocado is yummy. Spencer was our server on the patio and he could not have been better. The Stonehaus Pinot Noir is smooth & light."

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurant"s in the Westlake Village area. It is upscaled but relaxed and a great place to take quests. There are two different patios and a beautiful inside room. Perfect for lunch or dinner and my very favorite for breakfast.(I like my coffee served in a silver pot and a tablecloth) The bar is perfect for small plates or famous burger!"

  • "We were fans of the restaurant when they first opened. We loved it then they changed chefs and we stopped going. We took a chance again and were delighted to see Mediteraneo is back. The food was fresh and beautifully flavored. The service was top rate. After dinner we went to rhe vineyard/coffe shop. The energy was great. We will return. Thanks. "

  • "The location on the back patio with water view is great, but both service and food are lacking. We had to chase the waiter to get our iced tea refilled at lunch, and their signature Mediterraneo salad was rather blah. Much prefer Zin and Bocaccio's, both nearby."
