  • "More like 4.5 stars. Friendly staff with good recommendations on both food and wine. Also great if you are going to see a show because restaurant is efficient with timing. food comes out quickly"

  • "Average food. Very rude hostess and poor table service. Nice atmosphere."

  • "The atmosphere here is cozy & can be romantic. I love the outdoor patio in the back. At night the place has candles lit everywhere w/ nice music playing in the background. Portions are decent. Some dishes are slightly overpriced but overall a good find."

  • "I've been here twice now. The food was incredible, however, the service was lackluster. The server the second time around was just downright mean. Seem annoyed about questions and wasn't very courteous to our party accomodations."

  • "I went there on a Friday night and it was an incredible place to have a nice romantic evening. We sat outside in their garden patio area, which has a nice calm ambience with a fountain spouting in the background. The food was incredible. I had the sea bass and my partner had the gnocchi. Delicious! Our server was a bit overworked, but he was very courteous and took care of us. I recommend this place!"

  • "I've been here a few times and always had great experiences and great food, so I brought a group of out of town guests. Everyone was very disappointed. The food was not at all what I had experienced before. Not sure what happened."

  • "Recently, I had lunch with my co-workers (Total 8) and it was just ok. I understand 8 people lunch for a table would be little much on weekdays, but they could handle. Outside sitting was ok, but they need more shadow area or parasols. It was hot and food came late. They did not even serve the bread before I asked them. Also, they should bring a cold water on a hot day instead of the warm water. Salad was salty. Also, I asked them added meat balls on my calamari salad and waitress said she would ask and let me know. She brought my salad at the last of our order out of 10 and said Chef cannot put some meat balls on my salad. Why? why them did not tell in the beginning? Then, I can order as separate order instead of waiting until last."

  • "As always this little restaurant provided fresh interesting food without being fussy or stuffy."

  • "My boyfriend and I went for brunch and sat outside in the back garden. The bellini pitcher was a great value, and the food was okay. We chose more breakfast-y options though, so I'd like to return and try some other options."

  • "Sit in the back garden - Its perfect on a summer morning/afternoon. Order the Pappardelle “Al Limone” and add chicken. It is life-changing and refreshing with a glass of white wine, a beer or anything cold. I go once a month."

  • "We returned to this great restaurant over the weekend. The service was outstanding as always, and the brunch options were quite good. Our only concern was that, sitting in the garden area, there was some smell of garbage and only dissipated when the wind blew in a different direction."

  • "Interesting variety of well-prepared, fresh food. Grilled octopus, duck ragout over fresh pasta, ricotta, olives, olive oil with bread. Loved everything"

  • "Medi is a welcome restaurant on 9th Avenue. The Mediterranean food is excellent with a wide variety of fish, vegetable and meat choices...perfect for a crowd who appreciates well flavored simple cuisine. The grilled octopus small plate and lamb main dish were our favorites. They also have a weekday wine bottle special for $25."

  • "Fantastic garden and amazing $25 wine specials from 4-7 on sun-thurs! Great food - excellent for sharing :) The service is outstanding!"

  • "I think this may be a good place for 20s-30s to enjoy some drinks and good food and hang out together.. Easy walk from Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall."

  • "Having eaten at the restaurant 2 times i was sure of a good meal however I was proven wrong. two of the fish dishes were under seasoned and inedible. The pork chop special was over cooked and encased in a tough outer shell reminiscent of a fried armadillo. Our waiter disappeared for half an hour after we came in and was nowhere to be found, not to mention the high volume of ambient noise in the dining room. An experience not to be repeated."

  • "We had a terrific dinner here including a great bottle of wine, appetizers and of course, fantastic mains. Very helpful and friendly service. The only drawback, if I had to find one, is that it was a bit loud making conversation difficult - by no means is this a deal breaker, just something to keep in mind. "

  • "This place was great! I had a Greek salad as an appetizer. It was delicious, and the portion was rather large. For dinner a friend and I split a special pasta. This was a perfect portion. One of my friends got the pre fixe, so we all tried her dessert and it was amazing (chocolate cake). The waiter was also very helpful in recommending things and accommodating us. I definitely recommend this restaurant!"

  • "We waited over 1 hour and 15 minutes for a risotto dish and asked the waitress to check on it three times as the other dishes were already delivered 30 minutes earlier. She kept saying, "It's coming". We appreciate if a kitchen is busy, but she was quite rude, short and should not have lied if it was not ready. The two people sharing the dish had to wait about 30 minutes longer than the rest of us, which was extraordinary. Shame on her for bad service, as we otherwise enjoyed the ambiance / food."

  • "A long overdue girls night out was on the schedule for a Friday night, and I wanted a restaurant where we could eat well and not be rushed. Medi was perfect! They seated me as soon as I arrived, even though my party wasn't complete, at a quiet table in the basement. We sat there from 7 until 11 without ever being made to feel unwelcome. Granted, the bill came to $125 per person, but even equally expensive restaurants will throw blatant hints that they want to turn the table over. I greatly appreciated the consideration Medi showed. Not to mention that the duck tagliatelle, the brussels sprouts, and the chocolate cake were all outstanding."

  • "Warm, old world atmosphere, wine and small plates. Brussels sprouts not to be missed. Risotto was pasty, porcini were few, filled in with button mushrooms, not up to par. Service slow and hard to get a waiter."

  • "Creative, inventive Mediterranean menu. Half portions of several dishes make it perfect for tapas-like grazing. Great wines available by the glass including a fantastic Slovakian sauvignon blanc. Try the fresh pappardella with a duck ragout, grilled octapus and baby spinch salad. Fantastic outside garden, so unexpected in HK. Service is exceptional. Great place for a romatic date!"

  • "We came in 8 minutes late to our reservation after calling and were immediately led downstairs to our table. We told them we needed to get to a show and they recommended looking at the small plates side of the menu. We moved fast and they did too! We got a bottle of wine that was opened almost immediately, and a bunch of small plates, telling them to send everything out as it was ready. The food came quickly, one dish after another. The brussels sprouts were amazing, the sausage and broccoli rage disappeared like it was never there, and the tomato and Albanian bruschette was perfectly balanced. Service was fast and attentive but not annoying. Granted, we were easy and they didn't have to do much. Would love to come back for a coursed meal."

  • "The food was nice and the staff was helpful. The two different wines I tried were not very good (the first I picked, the second they recommended). I think that I would drink beer next time (which is weird since it is a wine bar). The octopus was very good."

  • "I picked Medi purely on geography (after seeing the Colbert show a few blocks away) and it was a great find. We sat downstairs and it had a good energy level and nice ambiance. The food was great--we had a mix of tapas and main courses. (The grilled octopus especially stands out.) Nice, attentive service, good wine, etc. I'd definitely go back."

  • "The food was awesome. The drinks were fabulous. Service on point. Requested a table near a window but when we got to the place, we decided to seat at the bar. Good thing there was not a problem with the switch. :)"

  • "Medi Wine Bar was a fantastic surprise on Saturday night. We live in the neighborhood after recently moving from the West Village and would put Medi Wine Bar in the same high ranking category of restaurants we used to frequent downtown - great food, warm service, cozy ambience...we will be back regularly!"

  • "My girlfriend made a surprise reservation for me here for the drinking portion of a three-part "birthday crawl" last Friday. We had a party of seven and shared a bottle of bubbly and another of a Spanish red. We even got an extra bottle of champagne on the house near the end of our stay! A birthday custard was ordered along with some fantastic small dishes. The staff were all very attentive and were happy to join in on the fun. Everyone loved this place the most of the few we visited that night. Definitely looking forward to going back again sometime soon."

  • "We enjoyed the food we ordered a spinach salad and hummus to start. the hummus was good and the pita was amazing. I was a bit disappointed they charged us for extra pita bread for our left over hummus ( we had $200 bill for 2 people, to be charged for more bread seemed a bit petty). for mains the lamb and the special lobster pasta were both very well prepared and enjoyable. The wine list was decent and a little pricy, might have expected a few more options being that it is a "wine bar", but was happy with servers knowledge of the wines. Overall we enjoyed the meal and service and would recommend the restaurant, thought I feel the food and the wine were a bit over priced."

  • "Came here with a group of 11 (we has resvs) and they gave us a huge table downstairs, so basically it was like we rented the room. the wine and the food was delicious, ESP the truffle gnocchi (order it!), and the service was super nice. love this place!"

  • "We have been at Medi a few times but never for dinner before. The restaurant is actually much nicer at night than during the day. Much more cozy. The food is very good but the service is often spotty. The Brussel Sprouts and Artichokes are to die for."
