Meauxbar BistroThis is a gem of a spot. TheThis is a gem of a spot. The food was fantastic. So different and so simple yet so delicious. The waiter was attentive but not to the point of being obnoxious. There are a few 2 top tables that are a little "close", i.e. you would be in someone else's conversation. But that is just like 2 or 3 tables. We asked to be moved to a larger table and had no problem doing that. If you like that closeness, then the place is a perfect l00%A+.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPhilly says 'Yo Meauxbar!'Focused menu, thoughtful mostly-French wine list, charming room. Great pate' and fish entrees, great presentations. Our first time dining there, and we were made to feel most welcome!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Nice SurpriseThis restaurant was located in a quiet neighborhood and as we approached we felt certain that it couldn't possibly be as good as all the other food we'd had in NO. Wrong! This place was amazing. Every bite we put in our mouths was delicious. The waiter was very efficient and friendly. It was a very small place and I was amazed at what the chef was able to create in his or her small kitchen. The waiter told us the crowd was mostly locals but occasionally they do get someone who has researched the place. I just found it here on this site.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very nice meal, havingWe had a very nice meal, having a few small plates rather than mains. Excellent salads. Cocktails were very well made. Location on the edge of the FQ but not a problem. Attractive interior in a basic kind of way. Wine glasses need an upgrade as they were stemmed but thick and industrial-strength. Did not complement the wine. Reasonable prices for quality received.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Dining ExperienceWe really enjoyed our experience at Meauxbar. The food was excellent and the ambiance was very nice
One word of caution however. If you are going to the theater allow at least an hour and a half for dinner.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable DiscoveryFirst stop on this year's New Orleans trip - great choice! Best steak frites ever; gumbo was top notch, shared dessert of clafoutis was good. Easy atmosphere with great hospitality shown by all. We'll be regulars from now on.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe power of Open TableStill cannot figure out how we missed this place for ten years...wow, think of all the great food that we missed! :) I tend to book all of my dining reservations through OT, and when this "new" place popped up, I was thrilled. Small dining room with closely spaced tables. The "back wall" tables are the best for space and traffic. Incredible menu with lots of interesting choices. The mac 'n' cheese was sinful. Pate divine. Crawfish ravioli had a bit of a kick and were a real treat. We will be going back here from now on!!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHonest and intimateAn outstanding late night anniversary dinner. Great French food with modern twists, like a bowl of perfect, tiny mussels in a mild green curry broth, and flavorful, seared fish atop fresh local veggies. Staff obviously love the food and are very knowledgeable and passionate about it, as well as the wine list. All of the food was fresh and authentic, presented simply and beautifully, with no extraneous over the top presentation, and servers were happy to explain details about origins and pairings.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA neighborhood gemOn the outskirts of the French Quarter, this little restaurant gives you a relaxed neighborhood feel with a diverse and tasty menu. Great wait staff as well.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousWe had the Martini's made with Ginger and they were out of this world. I had the Mac& Cheese and my dining companion had the Beet Ravoli. Both of us almost licked our plates. The upside down pineapple cake was also very tasty! Lovely dining experience and if I lived in NO I would be a regular!!!!!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint and TastySmall restaurant with awesome food... No doubt reservations will be the only way to eat a meal but well worth it.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI don't often write reviewsI don't often write reviews on Open Table, but felt compelled to do so for Meauxbar. We enjoyed everything we had, but the Bolognese was out of this world! Definitely recommend Meauxbar.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSearched OT reviews for aSearched OT reviews for a fun French rest. in the Quarter. Spot on. Wonderful service. The nightly pâté special is a must. Still dreaming about the caramelized onion and goat cheese tart. Great wine list with lots of options and moderately priced bottles. We've driven by many times and never went in until the other night. Will definitely go back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! As usual, we had a spot-on meal! We dined there with friends before a concert and each of us found it to be much more than just a good meal. My wife had the shrimp risotto and said this was the best meal she has eaten in New Orleans and she wants to return for our anniversary. Our server, Matt, was attentive but not obtrusive.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are so lucky to have thisWe are so lucky to have this restaurant in our neighborhood, but I would drive across town to dine here. The food, service and wine are consistently excellent every time we go.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best in the Crescent CitAbsolutely superb preparations, especially notable were the bouillabaisse, crawfish and ginger dumplings and the crime brûlée. One of best in New Orleans, which is saying something. Ambiance is pleasant and welcoming.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen in New Orleans the downtownWhen in New Orleans the downtown vibe can be overwhelleming .
