  • Public Transit: Being a downtown Pittsburgh location, there are many options and we recommend going to the Port Authority website for schedules, rates and general information.

  • Parking Details: In the same building as our restaurant there is an eight story parking garage that is open 24 hours. Meat & Potatoes will be offering reduced rate parking for our patrons who park in the Theater Square garage. There are also numerous parking garages and lots within a 3 block vicinity of Meat & Potatoes.

Definitely try the lenten Friday menu for lunch--it is SO good! I've had the shrimp po' boy 3 times now and it is delicious--as good or better than you'll find in New Orleans!"

  • "Both appetizers (fried pickles/brussel sprouts) were great. I do not eat meat so had some initial concerns but there were plenty of fish and several vegetarian items on the menu. The fish tacos were good and very filing, I could not finish the two (probably because I filled up on the great appetizers). My "carnivore" colleagues had various meat dishes which they loved. The waiter was very attentive and helpful."

  • "We have dined at M&P many times. The host, our server Shane and the bar staff are all excellent. I have never had the same cocktail twice and have enjoyed them all. We are, however, getting a bit tired of the menu after trying most things at least once. I get it, that on special occasions I may throw dietary caution to the wind, but the heavy handed amount of fat and salt on EVERYTHING is getting to be a turn off. Can we be more creative by avoiding the equivalent of pork belly as tasty as it may be as a go to ingredient? Does the grilled bread on the cheese board require butter? My favorite part of a meal is desert and I can barely allow myself a chocolate pots de creme which btw is excellent as well as all he deserts we have had."

  • "I took my husband to Meat & Potatoes for a special night out. He had been wanting to go for quite some time but I was doubtful since I'm a pescatarian (a vegetarian who eats fish). I was blown away. Everything was delicious! My salmon was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. My husband loved his steak. Every aspect of the meal tasted good but when mixed together, it tasted even better. The service was good & the atmosphere was nice. It was on the dark side with just enough lighting to be able to comfortably see. We thought the tables were a bit on the small side & rather close together but that was only a minor complaint. Overall, it was a fantastic experience & we can't wait to return."

  • "A great place to eat before a show ... if you can get a seat. Food is good, although a little heavy ... think pub food but with unique twists. The menu is not as meat-laiden as the name suggests ... this is not a steak house! Wait staff was great and very efficient!"

  • "The smoked whiskey buffalo wings were amazing--smoking flavor, perfectly crispy skin. The mac and cheese with pulled pork was also delicious, but I warn you it is incredibly rich. I had the pot roast for my main course. The potatoes, vegetables and sauce were fantastic, but the pot roast itself was maybe a little bit bland in comparison. Overall the whole meal was yummy though. My partner had the wagyu--the meat itself was phenomenal, and the pickled and deconstructed salad were nice little treats, but the sauce on the wagyu was a bit overpowering. But again, it was all-in-all very delicious and I loved the electronica/energetic music and the lighting. Would highly recommend!"

  • "Getting reservations was so hard- waited 2 weeks before we could get a time that suited us. First thing we noticed as we got there was that the tables were very close together- crammed almost- so there wasn't much privacy. Service was good- not exceptional. The drinks were strong and well made. Mac n Cheese was excellent- the highlight of the night!!! Entrees were good but not as good as the appetizers. Overall, it was a good experience but not outstanding as I was told it would it- so a little disappointed but it was definitely worth the try."

  • "Went to Meat and Potatoes before a concert. Our server, Emily, asked if we had a show to go to and what time. I thought that was very thoughtful. My husband and I both had the special which was a 10 oz filet with balsamic onions and crispy red potatoes with blu cheese. It was one of the best meals we've ever had! To top it off, we had a Moscow Mule drink. They make it with fresh ginger. Never had one before, but will definitely have another! This restaurant is popular in Pittsburgh and I can see why!"

  • "Love this place. The drinks are excellent. They make the best Manhattan in town. I had the filet special which was the best steak I've had in a long time. The Brussels Sprouts and fried pickles were excellent. We have them every time. Our table wasn't ready until about half an hour after our reservation time but everything was so good once we sat, it was all forgiven. Oh, our waitress, who we have had before, was very attentive without hovering. She too was great. I'm thrilled to have a place to bring my San Francisco, Portland, and NY City relatives that I feel can stand up against their best restaurants."

  • "Meat & Potatoes did not disappoint! I enjoyed my first Blood & Sand, followed by the knockout Mac & Cheese with a glass of the Petite Petit. All quite delicious. My husband enjoyed the roasted half chicken. Rachel our server was exceptional. Because the tables are relatively close, the dining experience can be influenced by one's neighbors. The couple next to us was celebrating paying off their mortgage and we got into a truly pleasant conversation with them. They made our evening all the more enjoyable. We went to a play next door and returned for dessert and drinks. In all, a great evening!"

The only complaint would be the restaurant set-up in that the seating (2 tops especially) is a little cramped. Fast, friendly service and great bar choices."

  • "Wonderful after theater dining-We got there a little early for our reservations, but were seated in five minutes-waiter was very good, helpful without hovering-I had the pork shank special that was perfectly tender and with some unexpected heat, but the sweetness of the sauce provided balance. They were out of most of the deserts, but that is to be expected at 11 pm. My Manhattan tasted like straight bourbon on the rocks, I couldn't taste the other ingredients. The 80's pop music seemed loud and a strange choice for dining, but we didn't have to yell to talk, and it just seemed to provide a good energy to the evening. This is the place I would bring friends and family visiting Pittsburgh."

  • "The menu and atmosphere made me really want to like this restaurant, but I'm afraid it delivered below expectations. Pacing was off - it took 20 minutes to receive our first "snack" and 45 min. before we got our appetizer. When we asked for extra bread to go with our bone marrow, it took an extra 15 min and by the time the bread arrived the fats in the marrow had coagulated. Food was decent - fried pickles were fun and bone marrow was good before it coagulated. Steak was okay, but nothing compared to the steak houses of New York or anything out west (Denver, Texas). Likewise, the mussels were nothing special and the fries more suited for a ballpark than a restaurant. I really wanted to like this place; it just failed to deliver."

  • "Visiting from Cincinnati for two nights. Enjoyed everything here, ordered way too much food! Good selection of canned beers, cocktails and some wine. Ordered cheese plate, charcuterie, Brussels, ahi tacos, pork belly tacos, Caesar salad, poutine, shad roe special, duck, pub burger, Kobe corn dog. Between four of us we spilt some of that but took a lot to go. Will definitely be back."

They are so wonderful from the moment you walk in, they take your coats and seat you promptly. The cocktails are great, and the food! Get the chicken wings. They are AMAZING. The hanger steak is to die for as well. You will not be disappointed spending a well-deserved Saturday night out at this place."

  • "Party of 4 on a Friday afternoon for the Fish Fry menu. Absolutely fantastic food, great atmosphere. Waitress was a bit unfriendly, but it wasn't a big deal; she kept our drinks coming and everyone left happy. Definitely a winner for Fridays during Lent!"

  • "My wife and I went for Brunch on Saturday and it was excellent. She had Chicken & Waffles. Huge portion of chicken. It was excellent as was the Bourbon Bacon Syrup. I had Brisket & Eggs. Great combination of flavors and the brisket was very tender. The Kim Chee it is served with is a little spicy. Service was great. If you are seated near the bar area it is a little crowded and louder. You feel like the people next to you are on top of you. It was not so close that you could hear conversations but it was close,"

Not a lot of options for someone who is not a big carnivore. Excellent appetizer and desert. Flat iron steak tasty. Cornish hen and sides disappointing."

  • "This was my fifth trip and it still blows my mind each time. I haven't been disappointed yet. Some people like to complain about the service, and I think they have the wrong expectations. They asked if we were attending a show, suggested food options that might not be ready given the prep time, took care of an accidentally dropped fork in about 5 seconds after it hit the ground, etc. The return of a server may feel long to some, but it's just part of a nice, non-rushed experience. I already have two more reservations in the books for future events, can't wait."

  • "All menu items were appealing. Ordered the steak fo rtwo since this was a special occasion and our first time. We were not disappointed by our selection. Tasty, juicy, suculent with the best sauted mushrooms on the side. The portion size was more than adequate, so much so that we finished off the steak the next day and it was just as good at that time. Would go back again when the opportunity presents itself."

  • "We have been to Meat and Potatoes before but not for a while. The last time I was there I ordered the short rib hash and it was excellent. This time not so much. It just seemed different. It was rather soupy and the meat was lukewarm at best. I really don't remember it having hollandaise sauce on it before because I don't usually order anything with hollandaise sauce but decided to try it because I liked the first one so much. The first time it was more meaty and like a corned beef hash, not soupy. Don't think I would order it again."

  • "Went here for my birthday with a group of 6. Very accommodating and comfortable. Waitress was very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. The food was out of this world! We got 3 appetizers; bone marrow, devils on horseback, and ahi toquitos. They were all a huge hit, my favorite was the devils on horseback. For dinner I got the pot roast. I have never had a more tender piece of meat in my life. a friend got the duck, which she let me try and it was AMAZING! For desert I got pretzel crusted cheesecake with blueberries. I cleared every plate put in front of me, I could not put my fork down! Made an amazing birthday dinner for sure!"

Since it is so close we could walk over in 5 minutes. Park at the theater parking lot and take elevator to lobby. Restaurant is right next door. Make reservations!"

  • "The food was very unique, tastes that span the global I had salmon that had a slight spicy ginger sauce that included black rice (very crunchy and well seasoned) and pickled thinly sliced cucumbers - another YUM. My son and soon to be daughter-in-law had hanger steak and fish & chips while my hubby had the pot roast - we shared and I have to say each and every dish was perfect. Notables: Son's smashed peas were delicious, Hubby was wowed over the tenderness of his pot roast and DIL ate her entire meal (typically she takes 2/3rds to half her meal home not today!) and her meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. Had bone marrow and Mac and Cheese for appetizers and was so surprised at the presentation and taste. Desert was great as well!"
