Diner Reviews
  • "An excellent brunch menu; beautiful classical music in the background; Nicole was an engaging and professional server; fine food; a spacious and comfortable place with an open city view. Superb!"

  • "We enjoyed the quiet and good food before a afternoon performance of the Seattle Pops. Great location and friendly staff."

  • "This was our second visit to Measure. We knew from the first time that the food was somewhat avant-garde (which is OK with us), and the portion sizes were fairly small. This time, we almost ordered too much food! We shared an appetizer; my wife ordered the Dungeness crab salad, which was fairly small but extremely tasty, and I ordered a dinner special (in this case, pork tenderloin). We usually mix-and-match our meals, and this evening was no exception. The dinner special was huge! We didn't walk away hungry. Moral of the story: If you haven't been to Measure lately, or if you are put off by the thought of small portions, look into the dinner specials. If in doubt, ask the waiter. He was pretty straightforward about the portion sizes."

  • "No need to rush off to your Benaroya Hall engagement; Measure is located right in the hall. The ambience is lovely with minimalist furnishings with an Asian vibe. The feel is urban and airy; the restaurant looks out over Seattle's urban landscape, while floating in the treetops of the Garden of Remembrance below. Lots of space between the tables created a quiet, discreet ambiance. The menu offers a small but interesting selection of the main protein groups of fish, flesh, fowl and veg. The food was quite good although obviously prepared in advance for quick dispatch from the kitchen; the dishes were attractively arranged. Small but select wine list. Overall quite good and reasonably priced for a restaurant in a performance venue."

  • "This can be a relaxing way to start an evening at the Symphony. This gracious dining room is delightful. The bar is great. The food is variable, ranging from wonderful (smoked salmon appetizer, scallops) to ordinary (beet risotto). The service is slow to uneven. But if you are not in a hurry, are patient, and choose carefully, it's a nice way to start an evening."

  • "The Good: The food was great, our waiter was great! Desert seemed to take a while, but we weren't in too big of hurry. We chose Measure based on convenience and the good reviews. Convenience because we were attending the Glenn Miller Orchestra show at Benaroya Hall. The Not-So-Good: I wasn't impressed with the hostess at all. When my wife and I walked in, she just stood looking at her monitor and payed no attention to us. No smile, no greeting, nothing. It wasn't until I stepped forward by myself and informed her that we had reservations and stated my name that we finally got a reaction from her. Fortunately the rest of the evening went very well, enough to make up for her rudeness. We'll go back again."

  • "The kitchen did not seem well organized. Our meals came at different times - first two and 5 min. later one more and then 15 min. later the last one. Seems all the crab had been made into crab cakes and there was none left for crab salad. Our waiter was very attentive and apologetic but didn't have much to work with. I asked for some jam for my toast and there wasn't any. He brought a small container of honey when I was almost done eating. Convenient, quiet spot for conversation which we especially enjoyed."

  • "We picked Measure because it was convenient for a pre-performance meal, and, per their internet page, had a couple of sandwiches that looked good. The sandwiches were not available, and the website should have made this clear. We ordered salads with crab cakes, which were very good, but not my first choice. The menu options were few. The server did an excellent job. Measure was a good choice for a diner who is unfamiliar with other local restaurants near Benaroya Hall and wants the convenience of eating adjacent to a performance. My recommendation to a friend would include a suggestion that he/she call ahead to confirm available menu selections."

  • "They had appetizers and main courses for a variety of prices and everything we ordered was fresh and good quality with nice flavor. The wine list is small but my glass of wine was excellent and a good pour for the price. The staff was attentive and service was fast without being rushed. Most of the area restaurants fill up early in the week for a Saturday night symphony, but I was still able to get a reservation for 4 here, and feel like it was to my advantage that Measure seems to be a bit of a secret."

  • "we had the crab and there was no imagination. It was bland. Am sure the crab was good there was just nothing to bring out the taste. There was some fruit around it and that did help a little. Would I visit again? Yes, certainly. Have been there many a time and it was usually good. My friend who was with me feels the same way. It was her first time but she would like to give it another try. Thanks."

  • "After attending symphonies at Benaroya Hall for over 12 years, this is the first time we dined at Measure. Why? We were not tempted since we could not find info such as menu, price range, even a direct phone line to ask questions. This time we did track down more info (Google search helped). However, the website was very dated (September, 2013) and a menu would not open. We took the chance anyway and were thrilled with the experience. Great service, great food (although the menu had out-of-date desserts listed) and a quiet, almost club-like atmosphere. We will go again and have already encouraged symphony-attending friends to do so as well.."

  • "We were blown away by the truly tasty, beautifully-presented food, very professional and helpful service (thanks, Richard!), and the quiet and relaxing setting. Food proportions were "just right." We appreciated the spaciousness of the room arrangement which enhanced conversation. Our idea had been to give Measure a try for its convenience, hoping for at least adequate food. But--surprise!--we found the food to be an absolute delight, far exceeding expectations. We'll most definitely be back! Bravo and brava!! We recommend going early (our reservation was for 6) to get the full experience."

  • "Measure at Benaroya has never failed us. The menu isn't huge (neither are the portions), that being said, although some of the offerings are a little skimpy, who wants to eat a big meal and then sit for 2 1/2 hours? My husband and I usually split a starter or larger salad, then order an entrée. As a side note, the bartender is excellent and I have had extremely well-crafted cocktails."

  • "This was my second time to Measure and the first one was absolutly amazing, impecible friendly service and wonderful food. This time the food was great; although our waiter was pleasant, he was overwhelmed, slow, and forgetful. We arrived at 6:00 pm and it took to 7:55 to get our bills processed. Too many patrons and not enough well trained staff. The restaurant needs to be able to accomodate walk-ins as well as those with reservations."

  • "The food was great - we had the chicken and special. Getting service at the table was difficult at times, had to ask for more ice tea for mom from 3 different people and remind our waiter before she got it. They do a good job of getting you settled and or initial order, anything after that was hard to get attention. Still Great food"

  • "We ate here before our 7:30pm symphony and enjoyed it very much. We had reservations for 6pm, but didn't need them although the timing working out great. It wasn't very crowded so we could have just showed up. 6:30 would have been fine too. We shared an appetizer and each had a dinner plus a glass of wine each. Bill came to about $70. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and helpful and there when you needed him, but not when you didn't. The beet risotto was tasty and the special was delicious that evening. The view was pleasant as you could see a chunk of the sunsetting sky through the big windows. It was quiet and peaceful leading to a beautiful symphonic evening."

  • "We liked the open space, relaxed ambience of Measure. Service was good, very attentive! Since this was the first time at Measure, we had a hard time finding it, even though we have been to Benaroya many times for concerts in the past. Food flavors were good, but not great."

  • "We dined at Measure before a recent concert at Benaroya and found the food and service to be excellent. We will eat here again as it is so convenient to park in the Benaroya garage, take the elevator to the restaurant and then attend the concert. Easy, peasy! My friend accidently left her credit card and they contacted her to let her know where she could pick it up before leaving Benaroya."

  • "We use Measure to enhance an evening at the Seattle Symphony. Arriving early for dinner relieves any concern about being late to the concert because of traffic delays. The food is really good, although prices are high. For our most recent experience, the cured salmon, crab salad, and scallops with celery root were superb."

  • "This is a great place to go before a performance at Benaroya Hall. We had brunch on Saturday before attending the Seattle Pops concert. The eggs benedict and fingerling potatoes were done to perfection. Dessert (chocolate tart and cardamom cheesecake) was fantastic. Service was prompt and friendly. But, nobody was there."

  • "Little too expensive and a need for the menu to include more lighter fare for pre-concert dining"

  • "We ordered the meat and cheese platter as an apetizer. I was expecting generous slices of salami and several slices of cheese at least. What we got were three extremely thin little slices of salami and ham so thin you could read through it, and two slices of cheese. I ordered a second course of Caesar salad it was dry and the anchovies were laid on top whole instead of being ground up in the dressing. We both ordered braised beef as the main entre. I was expecting tender slices of beef with a nice gravy or sauce drizzeled over it. What we got was a cube shaped pot roast that was overcooked and dry. The server and the other staff members were very polite and the view was really nice"

  • "This place "measures" up to what we expected. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. The ambience was very quiet and relaxing. The food was very well made and presented. One nit was the chintzy cheese portions on the meat and cheese plate. Our dessert had a tough crust under the chocolate that needed a good poking with the fork since there were no knives left on the table. But we enjoyed the place a lot and it made for a perfect transition from busy day to dining to the concert."

  • "We dine here frequently as we are Symphony patrons and enjoy the convenience of this location. Food has always tasted great; however, there have been other detractors. Quantity for one; portions have usually been very small. One of our group had a crab salad and the serving was about the size of an ice cream scoop. Albeit a delicious scoop. I had the beef dish that indicated it came with carrots...where were the carrots? There were two miniscule carrot chips. What was there was delicious. The tart shell for one of the chocolate desserts was so hard, a knife couldn't even get through it..just ate the filling! At times service has been good, at times not and this was a 'not' time. Barely made it to the performance at 7:30."

  • "I believe there is a new chef, and the food at brunch is outstanding. The Eggs Benedict and the French toast are unbeatable. I had the former served on crab cakes instead of the usual bacon, and I highly recommend it (there are three other options in case you don't love crab). And the staff are always congenial and attentive. A great place to dine before a concert."

  • "We enjoyed brunch before a concert on a Sunday. It is hard to rate brunch menus. How many different ways can you cook eggs, for example. But what we had was very well done and seemed to enjoy the touch of a master chef. The glass of wine was excellent, the service quiet and effecient, the price reasonable. But what we enjoyed was the serene silence, broken ever so gently by some quiet music. The restaurant had very few patrons that day, which obviously contributed to the silence. Our experience was so relatively short that we can't really comment on how a dinner might be; but we were so thoroughly impressed that we will definitely return. Soon. Dave Badger"

  • "This is a place that is part of Benaroya Hall. You have to be a ticket holder for the event in the auditorium. It is a very pleasant place with high windows and comfortable decoration. The staff is very professional. The food is very well prepared and makes for a pleasant preparation for the Symphony. The beef dish is excellent. It is roasted to a deep dark color and falls off the bone. Very pleasant and filling. ."

  • "What could be nicer than a delicious meal in the Founders Room before a concert at Benaroya Hall? The food and service were greatly improved from previous visits. We were late, but were served promptly, and all four of us found our meals to be excellent (perhaps the Caesar Salad was unremarkable, but ok). And there was ample time to make it to our seats for a performance by the Seattle Symphony. I would highly recommend Measure for a meal before your next concert at Benaroya!"

  • "Perfect place before the symphony. The kitchen is a bit slow considering the need to be seated before the concert. Great staff . It should be busier than it is. If people were disappointed in the past they should try it again. The new manager look for constructive feedback. Wait staff are very good."

  • "The food was very very good, very nicely prepared and the size of the portions greatly improved from last year. My husband had the beef presentation while I had the chicken and we both enjoyed them very much. The desserts we had were sinfully delicious; his a chocolate presentation and mine a cheesecake variation that was outstanding. Service was very prompt. I thought that the prices were very reasonable for such an upscale restaurant. We will be going back and trying other dishes. This is a great way to start an evening with the symphony."

  • "Measure for measure this is a really good restaurant and a great place to come before the symphony. A small but more than adequate wine & menu is well chosen for seasonal selections."

  • "Bottle of wine took forever to arrive and then we had to snag the waiter for an explanation as to why our food never arrived. Evidently, there was a problem in the kitchen, hence no roasted duck. We arrived at 6:30 pm and barely made it out in time for the concert at 8pm. The plan was to finish in time for the wine tasting prior to the start of the symphony. There were 4 of us and they did comp us a meal (a last minute substitute for the duck). Food was excellent and we plan to return to hopefully better service."

  • "Hi, just wanted to say that the first time I have had a meal at Measure and it was outstanding. Service from Justine along with atmosphere was wonderful before the Seattle Symphony performance. Food items were delicious and there were many fine options available for non-meat persons."

  • "My wife and I made reservations there before a concert. Park right below, show your concert ticket at the door, eat a really good meal with good service at reasonable prices, then walk down the hall to your concert. We'll happily repeat the experience."

  • "The food is quite good here and the atmosphere is quiet and plays classical music. It is a perfect place to calm oneself down and relax before the Symphony or any other show at Benaroya Hall. If you wouldn't eat at Wolfgang Puckys outside, then you would probably like Measure. The windows all around provide a view, sometimes you can see the musicians scurrying to the hall. The ceiling is high and they have a lot of friendly staff. The food is presented in an artful manner. When I can afford it, I will come here for every show!"
