Diner Reviews
  • "We paid over $250 for four people to have dinner and it was mediocre. I had family in town and we wwnt there intending for a good dinner. We sat at the table over 10 min before the server came to greet us. This whole time we did not have the wine menu so while we were looking at the menu it was rather tough to decide without seeing the wine menu. After finally ordering wine and food we waited a decent amount of time for our feed. We were their on a week night and there were only 3 tables in the dinning room. Then server forgot to bring out a salad someone had ordered with their steak and he didn't realize it until the main course came out. Someone ordered a side of Béarnaise sauce and it never came. Overpriced."

  • "The food was great. The service was very attentive and welcoming (but not over the top). The wine list was giant. My wife and I had a splendid evening."

  • "I wanted to celebrate my recent sales and had driven by McMahon's and felt this was the perfect place - I was right! The people were friendly, the restaurant was clean and the ambulance set the tone for a great dinner."

  • "Located this eatery through Wine Spectator, which is one of our go to sources as we are both crazy about food & wine. This restaurant did not disappoint. Very nice ambiance, attentive waiter, very good food.....loved it"

  • "This was our first visit to McMahons but if we visit Tucson we will be back. The service and food were excellent. It is often difficult to find a quite restaruant where you can relax and enjoy a great meal. This hits on the top of the list."

  • "Really enjoyed our dinner. Good food, great service. We were there on a quiet night and had a great meal."

  • "The restaurant has a very nice décor and great atmosphere. They have very impressive wine selection. Appetizers, side dishes and desserts were excellent and so was the service. However, the restaurant main feature - steaks – were far from perfect, the steaks were tasty, but three out of four we ordered were over cooked. For the price they charge it was a bit disappointing."

  • "Met a friend for lunch at McMahon's this past Friday. We both wanted to order the Tucsonan Chicken Sandwich, but requested it served as a wrap. The server and the chef happily satisfied our request. They served the sandwiches wrapped in chipotle tortillas and they were fantastic! So flavorful, and served with a lovely side of fresh fruit and berries."

  • "Should have taken a table in one of the other dining areas far away from the piano. Played VERY loud - could barely hear waiter and fellow diners. Won't make the same mistake next time. Having to practically shout when it's a dinner experience not a lounge experience. Piano should be soft and subtle creating an ambiance not overtaking the room."

  • "Consistently excellent happy hour......very reasonable, with many drink and appetizer selections."

  • "This is a restaurant that will probably be out of business in a year. The food was good but not better than other places in town. We ordered a birthday shot of tequila. The bartender used sugar on the rim instead of salt. Then, when we sent it back, they just poured the old drink into a different glass. No way of knowing who got what drink.. We knew they used the old drinks because the tequila came back cloudy instead of clear. Laced with sugar. Very unprofessional. Oysters and firecracker shrimp were very good. Salads good. Steaks good. Cinnamon strawberries excellent. Nice place to sit at bar and have appetizers. Classy. Pricey though."

  • "It is always a pleasure to enjoy a great dinner at a premiere restaurant. McMahon's consistently fits the bill."

  • "Lacks atmosphere. I like this restaurant but maybe if the walls were replaced by big windows to the street, it would have a much better atmosphere. Not so enclosed. The food was very good."

  • "The only good thing about our experience was the piano player. They should be ashamed of the food they offered for the price they charged. The wine list was disappointing at best. I wanted a sparkling wine and in a place like that all they had was a small bottle of a cheap sparkling. The piece of salmon they served was small although tasty. The 3 brussel sprouts in the serving of vegetables were soggy and obviously not fresh. Uch! I had the same dinner the next night in another restaurant for less money and four times the taste and satisfaction. We were visitors from out of town and I will not go there next year, if they are still in business. For a restaurant that bills itself as a first class restaurant they should be ashamed."

  • "Our table of five had great meals with the exception of one. The petite filet was up there with one of the worst steaks I have bee served, tasteless and overlooked. In hindsight, I should have sent it back! We were never asked about how our food tasted, something I would expect from a pricey restaurant. The service was good but not exceptional, we were served coffee and then had to request spoons. I did mention to the busboy that my steak was not good, he just took the plate and never said a word. The other entrees were very good but I don't think I would return. I had a much better steak at Texas Roadhouse for a lot less money!!"

  • "McMahon's has one of the best happy hours in town, when it comes to ambiance, price and food offerings. My only suggestion would be to include at least one vegetarian appetizer. As always, Amber did an outstanding job providing great service."

  • "Four of us went to McMahon's for a special dinner. We were seated in the piano room as we requested. Pre-meal wines were grea. Allfour meals were perfectly prepared, even though some deviated from the standard entree and sides. No dessert this time. The pianist played dthe song we used for our wedding. All in all, a wonderful evening."

  • "I have eaten in many restaurants around the states and your restaurant in my top 10. I thought the service was wonderful, the food was delicious and the limousine was a great touch. I will be back. Thank you for a great dinning experience."

  • "The food & service are excellent. The free Limo was great, allowed us to enjoy a few cocktails and a nice bottle of wine. Great dining experience, would highly recommend."

  • "I made a reservation, I loved the fact there was a complimentary limousine service along with it. I didn't however, enjoy the food. First, my guests asked for their meat to be medium well, but it came to the table looking rare. Second, my sautéed spinach wasn't good at all. The last thing is that I spent over $200 on this dinner celebrating two of my guest'a birthdays but I should've gone to Texas Roadhouse for a good steak instead. The service was very good."

  • "The scene was nice. Had to sit at a table, very uncomfortable chairs. When the dinning room is only half occupied I should not have to request something three times to get it. Food was good but not better than we have had locally for less than half the price. Advertised red velvet cake desert was really chocolate cup cakes with chocolate sauce on top!"

  • "POTATOES, VEGGIES, SERVICE WERE EXCELLENT TO OUTSTANDING. THE FACILITY WAS SUPERIOR. THE $40+ STEAKS (A FILET & A NEW YORK-MED AND MED. RARE) WERE VERY GRAINY AND TOUGH. NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM A "FAMOUS" STEAK HOUSE. I COULD HAVE HAD THE SAME TYPE OF STEAK FOR LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE CHARGED HERE. WE GOT TO MCMAHON'S AT 5:00 PM AND RETURNED AT 6:30. FULL DAYLIGHT. PARKED ADJACENT TO SWAN ROAD. WINDOW BROKEN VALUABLES STOLEN. SUGGEST FOLKS CARRY PERSONAL POSSESSIONS IN WITH THEM."

  • "We had a great evening. The food and service was excellent on its own but then to top things off they offered a complimentary limo pick up. The piano bar and wine cellar tour made for a spectacular evening. Highly recommend it."

  • "The overall experience wasn't bad. There where a couple things I think they should change. First, the wine list is way to large. It's not very presentable bringing me a large binder as a wine list. Second, as a guest I should never see where the cooks and servers prepare the food. They need to seperate this area from the dinning area. Between the cooks and servers talking and calling out times on the orders made the dining experience way to loud. And finally as a manager of a fine dinning resteraunt, you really need to dress the part, and this doesn't mean walking around with keys hanging off of your hip."

  • "We made special requests when making reservation that were sent to the restaurant. The salad dressing we requested lacked the one ingredient that puts it as #1 for us, the jalepeno in with the lime. The filet mignon was under cooked- ordered medium well and came out medium rare. A manager who stopped at the table to check on us was very cordial, she noticed the mistake right away and offered to take it back. My husband declined the offer. My tequila lime shrimp were excellent. The manager arranged for us to have complimentary desserts. Our favorite- -Champagne Fried Strawberries did not disappoint. The creme anglaise perfect. It was our 34th anniversary and we enjoyed celebrating it at McMahon's as we have often done in the past."

  • "Our server was very nice but not great at his job. He walked past our empty wine glasses several times before my husband finally got up and refilled them himself. Also our dinner order was lost. So we had to wait almost an hour between our appetizers and our dinner. Our server brought us a little salad to share in the mean time but honestly I think they should have comped part of our meal. Once we finally got our main dishes mine was cold. If I am spending $45 on a steak dinner I at least expect it to be hot. All and all I was very disappointed. $200 for poor service and a cold meal. At least the wine was good."

  • "Local Tucson residents know this steakhouse and prefer it as the best. Took a group of 10 on a Sunday nite and ate in the piano bar. Great atmosphere, good food, excellent wine. What more is there to say?"

  • "This restaurant is tucked into a corner on Swan and is quite simply absolutely worth every penny. Took my husband there for his birthday and everything we had was excellent, from the soup to the side dishes to the steaks. Had a live piano player as well the night we were there which was an unexpected pleasure. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants to celebrate with style!"

  • "McMahon's is my "go to" place for important events and dinner meetings, both for business and for family and friends. consistently high quality food and service are the hallmarks of the McMahon's experience. highly recommended."
    Dined on 1/30/2014
  • "The food is well prepared but inconsistent in quality and quantity. The prices are excessive when considering the unfullfilled promise of true elegance. This restaurant has great potential and could be a leading example to the community of what a really good dining experience was meant to be. It still needs a great deal of thoughtful attention to the subtle pleasures of quiet dining. The noise level is absolutely unacceptable and intrusive."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed our time at McMahon's Steakhouse. Excellent quality of filet, properly prepared to order rare. David provided excellent service, fast and efficient. Overall a wonderful evening dining out. Highly recommended for the filet. Excellent sides as well. Thank you for a fine dining experience."

  • "Let me tell you that this is one of the greatest steak places at which I have ever eaten. Love the feel of the place, the great work of the waiter helped and the food???? Nothing short of outstanding. First, great drinks...Bobmbay Saphire and Tonic...excellent. My wife and I shared the ribeye and the waiter told the chef and he found two smaller ribeyes and served the to us. Brussels sprouts were almost as good as my own. And their scalloped potatoes were some of the best I have had. Our entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. We loved it so much, we were only in Tucson for 6 days and ate there twice!!!"
