The restaurant was a very nice place. It is decorated with great styling. The wiat staff was great. I really liked the staff. I rated the food lower because the Flat Iron steak I got, Med well was amazing. It was done amazingly as Med Well. However, the Filet Mignon done med well for my pregnant wife...(didn't want bacteria) was dried up and very tough. Sides were all amazing though as well. But a lot butter is used. Tates great though.

you know the old saying.....if you want to play, you gotta pay...well same thing applies here at McMahons....if you want a good meal, it'll cost ya. It was pretty spendy , but if you consider everything, the food, atmosphere, the band, then I guess it was worth it. We went to check out the band so we sat in the patio. We could have ordered off the 'open table' menu but wanted to have a full dinner. Service was good, food was good, my hubby had the petite filet and there was not a speck left on his plate. I had the short ribs and they were a bit on the dry side, but it didn't stop me from eating them! the only negative was the cigar 'dump bin', we were very close to it. All in all. ....would come back again.

This restaurant advertises itself as a "prime steak house", but don't expect a great selection of steak or beef. They have three cuts of steak, flat iron, "ugly" (their word, not mine) and a filet. Where is the prime rib? How about a porterhouse? Or even a t-bone? The wine list was extensive, at $100+ a bottle. The drinks were reasonably priced. Compliments the staff. Very attentive and service was awesome. Manager came by three times to check our table. The piano was nice, a little loud. The appetizer list was extensive, leading me to believe the restaurant is trying to draw more of a bar crowd. Might be good for a happy hour event, not dinner. Overall we had a nice experience, but I won't go there again expecting a good steak!

I have been treated to McMahon's a few times by my husband and each time as been wonderful. I would have to say that my last visit 8/01/ was the best dinner yet!! I took my mother for her 69th birthday and she was in love with the restaurant as soon as she walked through the door. The service was awesome, they employees greeted her politely and everyone wished her a Happy Birthday. My mother had stated "This is the most delicious, beautiful place I've ever been and everyone made me feel special." To see my mother so happy was priceless and that was made possible by the amazing staff, environment and food of McMahon's. I look forward to many more good times and memories at McMahon's.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at McMahons. Our server made wine and food suggestions that were awesome. The manager and the chef offered us anniversary congratulations. We enjoyed the petit filet which was perfectly cooked. They served us a complimentary dessert and we chose champagne strawberries, which were deep fried and served with creme anglaise. Very delicious and unusual.

We went to McMahons for dinner. My husband started with the chile soup & then had the meatloaf dinner. I had the wedge salad & sea bass. We both thought our meals were great. My husband ate both our desserts, something chocolate & a key lime tart. He finished them completely. We had drinks with our dinner; he had a Drambui & I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Both pours were more generous than we've received at other restaurants which we appreciated. The service was perfection.

I used open table for the dinner reservation but we also went to the Mother's day Brunch. both were excellent quality and beautifully presented. for dinner we had the 30$ specials. Just the right amount of food and one of the few restaurants that knows how to cook fish wiuthout drying it out. My coffee cup was continually refillled with a silver pot, and I used my 25$ gift certificate that they gave me on Mother's day. Ordinarily we ssve this restaurant for high days and holy days, but we had to use the gift certificate, so we went for a non-occasion celebration. Can't wait to go back again.

On arrival with my elderly mother who walks with a cane the hostess said we would need to wait for the table to be ready even though we had a reservation. There is no place to sit. Restaurant was mostly empty. When they did seat us it was in a bunch with other occupied tables in one corner which made the noise level high in that area. Maybe that is easier for the employees. Hostess needs a different job. Our waitress was great. I ordered the fish and my mother the petite filet mignon and it was good except for the asparagus which was so hard it could not be cut or eaten. My husband got the chicken piccata and the chicken was so tough it was hard to cut with a steak knife. The kitchen needs to be paying more attention.

We decided to use a gift card to our once favorite restaurant: McMahon's. They have always been a special occasion place for us to go since it is generally quieter than other restaurants and you can sit for a leisurely dinner with out feeling rushed. We requested seating in the piano bar for the ambiance but didn't know there was a Broadway concert going on! That was a pleasure and a bonus. The food, however, was disappointing for the first time. Food was too salty. The sea bass was tough, and the petite filet was very thin. Service was great but I wonder about the bankruptcy affecting the food quality. With so many options in Tucson, they need to keep their quality top notch.

I've been here several times. Each time the food has been very good, but each time the service level has been somewhere between poor and so-so. McMahon's Prime has a storied reputation, even as the recession hit. Our hope was that McMahon's Prime still shone like the brilliant star it used to be. Sadly, it wasn't the case. The meal was good but it certainly didn't rise to the price. Prices remain relatively high though the quality of the steak has declined quite a bit. Two cocktails, two petite fillets, the 'sides sampler', two appetizers... $132 before tip: NOT a great value. (One other thing, the banquette seating, while soft at first, is horribly uncomfortable. The bench cushion sinks lower in back (by the back cushion) than in front and you feel like your butt is in a rut, with your knees lifted above. Not fun. Not comfortable. Not conducive to normal digestion.)

We had originally booked our 10 year wedding anniversary at another restaurant over on the west side, but after reading the Yelp reviews - switched to McMahon's. We had been there twice before and really enjoyed it: once before we moved to Tucson in February 2004 and once again in the summer of 2008 with friends. Not sure why it takes us so long to get back here as it is truly an outstanding restaurant! The entire experience was fabulous - service (thank you Brian!) was attentive and wonderful, food was delicious and prepared well and the value was VERY good - particularly in comparison to some of the higher end steak chain restaurants. They really made our evening special and topped it off with THREE exquisite desserts!
