Diner Reviews
  • "Slow start to service, our apppetisers were delivered to another table, second drink order was wrong and waitress argued with what we ordered. Food was delivered cold, no bowl for shells, corrrect drink order took forever. I was getting up to go to the bar ask but once I got up they were delivered. One round on drinks were taken off the bill. I will not eat their again and can't recommend to anyone."

  • "The service was bad enough to make the food taste worse. The first time I went here I left because they left me and my table sitting for 20 minutes before our server first came out. For some reason I gave them a 2nd chance. Bad move on my part. Server took the order and never came back to check on us once during the meal. I had to flag him down to get the check. To top it off the food was bland and watery."

  • "They were very busy and even though we had a reservation, we had to sit at a high top which are not comfortable at all! Plus, there were 4 of us and the tables are so small, there was no room. We were told that a reservation quarantees us a table but not what kind of a table. We will try another restaurant that is a more comfortable environment the next visit to National Harbor."

  • "I really like your restaurant except for the woman's bathroom which had no hand soap when I visited and was a mess with toilet paper."

  • "food was good, views were great, drinks were hit and miss, service was confusing- must have been short staffed because we were infrequently attended to by different people."

  • "We had an early supper, not quite hungry enough for dinner. We had Great service and food. I would definitely do it again."

  • "Service was exceptional and our server, Maria, was absolutely the best. The reservation process was very easy and our reception on arriving at restaurant concierge area was friendly and welcoming. I have been to McLoone's many times and wanted to share this experience with friends as we enjoyed dinner there after a baseball game at Nationals Stadium. Overall a perfect day!!!"

  • "The food was great but the service was less than desirable."

  • "Celebrated a friend's birthday here! With a group of 10 divas our server Marcus was attentive, entertaining, and helped make the occasion fun! From the fresh tasty calamari to the moist delicious sunset salmon, the food was great! I topped it off with the huge chocolate cake! This delightful treat for true chocolate lovers is enough for two, that is if you want to share. I didn't."

  • "Had dinner here Wednesday night, the lobster special was tempting, but ended up getting the crab cakes. Excellent, as was the lobster bisque. Beer is prices much better than other restaurants in National Harbor (except Yeungling for $6.00 - I pay $1.50 or $2.00 in the Pennsylvania). Food was so good I returned for lunch on Thursday. The salmon blt was delicious. Service both days was adequate, but not great."

  • "I took a friend to McLoone's for her birthday lunch. It was my second time there. The food, atmosphere, and service was great! My friend even called me to say that she really enjoyed the restaurant and that she will be coming back again. Please keep up the good work!"

  • "We will be going back to McLoone's. Really nice place and although national harbor has many restaurants some are way too touristy and honestly not worth the money. Prices at Mcloone's we're reasonable and there is something for everyone on the menu, even kids."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Overall the food is OK, nothing spectacular. So the prices they charge are a bit steep--$34 for 6 medium shrimp with a mini-crabcake on it and served over mash potatoes---seems kinda steep for small and kinda tasteless dish. I would go back just to sit on the outside deck and have a drink, but for the money spent, I would probably go somewhere else to dine."

  • "Reservation made. Arrived early we were informed that a table is not available with 8 parties ahead of us. We found a high top table at the bar, 30 minutes later we decided to have diner there. The only saving grace was the service provided by the bartender."

  • "This was my worst experience having a reservation at a restaurant. We arrived at 7:55 for an 8PM reservation and waited at the indoor host stand to ask for our outdoor seats, we we're told we had to go to the outdoor host stand. When we got through our second line at the outdoor host stand we were told it could be up to an hour wait for a table WITH A RESERVATION. Spoke with the manager who came and said that it would only be 15-20 minutes. After 20 minutes, went back to ask about a table and none open. Other people waiting that had reservations had been waiting an hour! After 30 minutes we gave up and left. Never had dinner here, only good thing was watching the sunset on National Harbor while we waited."

  • "We booked for 8pm. We arrived at 7pm and told the reception staff that we would be at the bar until out table was ready. At 8.10pm we asked about our table...it would be ready in 20 minutes. Eventually at 8.35pm we had to ask for the manager (who happened to be the regional manager) before we were seated. We waited about 20 minutes but nobody had arrived at our table to give us water, take our order etc so again we had to find the manager. Things then seemed to improve and the food was good...UNTIL the server poured a new wine order into my half-finished glass (of a different wine!) The ending to this disaster was when we ordered two glasses of Cloudy Bay and were served something completely different in the hope that we wouldn't notice!"

  • "We arrived for a 7:30 reservation for 5 and were told they were backed up and to expect a 25 minute wait. We went to the bar and ordered drinks. Instead of serving us right away, the bartender disappeared into the kitchen to deal with another customer's food. Bottom line - 15 minutes to get our drinks. They finally seated us at 9:00, an hour and a half late. We placed our drink order and it was another 15 minutes until we received our drinks. Despite talking to 2 managers about the long delay, and our waiter knowing our dissatisfaction, they offered no compensation. After the meal, I discussed the entire experience with a 3rd manager. He offered a sincere apology and generous compensation. Bottom line - staff needs much training!"

  • "I initially had high expectations for this resturant because it's at the National Harbor. I was wrong, the service was unacceptable. The food was ok but not worth the money. We were told by management we would receive a free dessert but after giving our credit cards to pay, I was charged the $8 for a key lime pie!"

  • "Asked the server about the house draft. He had no idea except that it was a beer on draft. Also we were given the bread when our meals arrived. Appetizer was good but Salmon was super salty. A whole bunch of servers are just standing around chatting in the dining area."

  • "the trick. It was a beautiful night so we sat outside. The view is fantastic. The only issue was that National Harbor speakers play the 1812 Overture around 7pm at too-loud-to-ignore volumes. The restaurant also had a speaker system playing nice dinner music. The combination of the two just about drove me into the harbor. Aside from that, the food was good and the service was friendly and prompt."

  • "Although there was no one in the restaurant that particular day, our food took forever to come and when it did, it tasted awful. Two of the dishes were returned but the second dishes ordered were much better. The server was terrible we had to constantly hunt him down for everything. A party behind me left because the service was so poor and again, there were literally four other parties in the entire restaurant. No excuses for this type of bad service and food. Highly disappointed!!"

  • "Although the salmon was good, the rest of the food was poor. A salad consisting of a mash of green, with unseasoned and uncooked chicken on top, chicken wings that required dipping for any flavor, shrimp cocktail with just THREE shrimp, served with cocktail sauce that resembled marinara, and overcooked chewy and greasy calamari. The crab cakes were "crumby" and bland, but were ok when dipped in the accompanying sauce. The wait to order and the wait for food was long, and the restaurant was not particularly busy. The server was very pleasant, but that only goes so far. We sent some of the food back. Obviously, there is no quality control from the kitchen. And it was very expensive! Get Pizza somewhere instead."

  • "We have been to McLoone's many times. This experience was not typical for this restaurant. They were very busy, but not completely packed. Our server appear and took our drink orders within 5 minutes, but were not delivered for 20 minutes. In the mean time our entrée orders were taken, but no food had come out for 30 minutes after the order was placed. We contacted the Manager and paid for our drinks (for which he made no offer to comp) and left without dinner. There are many other choices at National Harbor, not sure if we'll return."

  • "Expect to wait, and you must follow up to be seated (even if they tell you xx minutes), they will seat other people ahead of you. There is no rhyme or reason to who they seat and in what order. People who came in after us were seated. We witnessed it happening to other people, (that should have been a sign), then it happened to us! Reservations were not honored. It was a jumbled mess. (The waiter was new, so I cannot judge that). The entrees were okay. The dessert tasted like it was from a box, nothing special. The scenic view was nice."

  • "We watched sundown outside while having a delicious dinner - can't beat that. Service was very slow in the beginning, but once he took our food order (finally) things started moving at the right pace. Enjoyed it. "

  • "I have not found much that I liked in National Harbor, but thought I would give this restaurant a try. Arrived on time, offered seating outside which we accepted. They sent us to staff outside who informed us there would be a 40 minute wait. Back inside where we were promptly seated. Restuarant is incredibly noisy. Wait staff running around the room everywhere-- very disconcerting. Food arrived timely and was decent. Service was good but nothing special. Atmosphere is so loud and frenetic that it takes away from the positives. Would not return."

  • "Most staff lacks professionalism when not directly serving a customer. Our server was very polite and professional while serving us and when he was not! Others were not. Overall food was very good. Took a while for our wine to come but the rest of the food came in a timely fashion. The oysters are okay but there are better selections and better quality at pearl oyster dive in NW and hanks oyster bar in SW. "

  • "We selected this restaurant because of its proximity to the waterfront and the Capital Wheel at National Harbor. We were able to sit outdoors, which was a very pleasant experience. The indoor ambiance is somewhat lacking, but the deck is the place to be. All our food was quite good, including the mussels appetizer and the catfish fish and chips. Service was dreadfully slow even for drinks, and oddly a beer was served long before the sodas and waters ordered by the rest of the table. And this on a night when the restaurant was not particularly busy and numerous waiters were milling around. Still, this was good if your main objective is a scenic dining experience with good though not exceptional food."

  • "I wasn’t too happy to have to wait to be seated because of a large party still being served; however, the manager apologized and gave us a drink on the house while we waited for our table. After being seated by the window, I was very pleased with the view of the Harbor and that big wheel. The food and drinks were excellent; of which, we started with the raw and fried oysters. The server was very good and was even treated to a candle on my desert cake. "

  • "Arrived early for our reservation and sat at the bar. Two bartenders who were not busy took several minutes to even acknowledge us and another 5+ minutes to take our order. The appetizers we ordered at the bar were very tasty! Edamame hummus was particularly good. Were seated outside for dinner. Took a long time to get our food, even after the manager came out and assured us the food was coming out momentarily. The food came, and one of the entrees had the wrong sides. They took it back to replace the sides, then came out to let us know that it had been dropped on the floor, so the entire entrée would have to be re-made. So, three of us ate then watched the fourth person eat 20 minutes later... Then took forever to get the check."

  • "The wait for our food took two hours. After waiting 30 minutes for appetizers, I was told it would be an additional 20 minutes because the crab legs were not steamed. Miraculously, 5 minutes later, all the appetizers arrived. After waiting an additional hour, my shrimp scampi tasted horrendous as if someone dumped a bottle of lemon juice in it. The kitchen staff and waiters were all in disarray. Will NEVER go back."

  • "We will not be eating here again. Slow service, overpriced food, rookie mistakes in the kitchen. We waited nearly 50 minutes for our appetizers (shrimp cocktail) and that was because our meals (three salads) were literally right behind the appetizer. "

  • "This was my second visit to McLoone's and it did bring how I would have rated it from my first visit down a bit. My first visit I sat outside, had that evenings special and overall one of my best meals out in years. My second visit however it was a half hour or more wait for outside. Inside was louder and more busily trafficked than I like. The restaurant was packed and I feel, even though my waiter was awesome, the staff was stretched too thin. My meal was good, but not great and not really worth the price I paid. I will go back without a doubt but am hoping for an experience more like my first visit! "

  • "This restaurant has a lot of natural advantages. It's got a great location on the water, the interior is nicely decorated, the host/manager and wait staff were solid. However, the menu needs a total make-over and the food was mediocre at best. (Fix the food first.) The live entertainment was excellent quality, but way too loud, far more suitable for a bar than a restaurant. It just didn't work in that location. Overall, I'd say this restaurant really seems confused about what it wants to be: romantic/formal or party central. "

  • "I chose to dine here for a celebatory dinner after graduation on 5/17. My party of four arrived early (approx. 6pm for a 7:30 party of 5). The hostess suggested we come back closer to our scheduled reservation time when we inquired if a window booth table was available or reserved as requested. It was not so we obliged & returned at approx. 7:00. It was observed that another party with a 7:30 reservation was immediately seated at 7:00. Managment unapologettically stated the website makes no promises that seating preferences will be able to be honored. The waitress took a very long time to return with entrees after appetizers and drink refills even after we tried to ask for help. She also mixed up the pmts causing funds to withheld. "
