A word from McCray's Tavern - West Village
McCray's Tavern at the West Village is definitely one of Smyrna's hidden gems. Redefining the concept of American neighborhood bar and grill, this instant classic is a cornerstone in Vinings, and a local favorite.
McCray's Tavern boasts 49 taps with an eclectic selection of draft beers that compliment its exceptional American fare. Everything is prepared from only the highest quality and freshest local ingredients. Besides our diverse menu, our executive chef always has something special to offer every night of the week. Creating specials such as bacon-crusted meatloaf, to Rack of Lamb, this local gastro pub serves anything but "bar food."Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and. I enjoyed a nice Saturday lunch here in West Village. The food and service were good in a tavern setting. They have outside seating, but we opted in to avoid the heat. $5 Bloody Mary bar was a treat."

  • "This was our first visit to McCray's. We chose it based on location as we had people coming from Smyrna and several places in Atlanta, but didn't know much about it. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will visit it again. The food was quite good and the portions were generous. Service was excellent as well."

  • "I made a reservation for a large party of ten the morning of the reservation. Got a confirmation email that my reservation was confirmed. An hour or so before the reservation, McCray's call me to tell me they couldn't accommodate my party. I had to scramble online and drive around to restaurants to find a location that could seat ten people in such short notice. The manager I spoke with did not seem concerned at all that she was cancelling my reservation in such short notice."

  • "I reserved a table for a party of 10 on a midweek day at 11:45am. Our group from work was honoring a lady in our group who was retiring. The table was ready for us when we arrived but we waited a long for our food once we placed our order. The server was a young lady who had no personality. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was a poor representation of an authentic sandwich. Wrong bread and it was grilled on a panini press with the grooves in it. Let's call it a play on a Cuban sandwich. Drink refill offers from the server slacked off near the end of out meal. It was my first visit and my last. It's a shame because the location at the West Villiage is very nice. "

  • "Server was very passive. Rejected my request to substitute sides; then the entree arrived. It was a piece of grilled chicken breast, mystery dumplings and spinach all drowning in a white, soupy sauce. My stomach exploded 30 minutes after consuming this dish. We will give them a second chance, but first experience was disappointing. "

  • "McCrays only does brunch a few times a year but they do it quite well. A wide assortment of hot, cold, breakfast and lunch entrees and with great tasting results. Great desert selections as well. And unlike most brunches they tailor the menu to make it work for kids as well. It was a prefect weather day which made sitting on the patios very comfortable. "

  • "Food was tasteless It took over 30 minutes to get initial drink order. Never received waffles ordered. It was an awful dining experience for the whole family. "

  • "My freind and I were looking for a new spot to try, didn't want to go to the usual chain restaurants. McCray's was a nice surprise. Food was good and the service was excellent!"

  • "Love the kids night! Let's the adults take it easy while the kids are entertained."

  • "Good food, good drinks, good service, good value...as always. The only blip was that our reservation was for five people and we were seated in the bar at a table for four. We were cram packed. But on a positive note, the bar was rockin' loud and our close proximity to each other made it easier to converse!"

  • "Enjoyed McCray's on my first visit on Saturday. Food selection & portions were good. Really enjoyed my steak salad that included fries - yum! The best of both worlds! The only issue I had was the server having a large group to serve in addition to my table and two others. An additional server was definitely needed for that many people. Despite this, he was still very accommodating. Will return!"

  • "I chose for our business lunch because of its location. I made a good choice."

  • "This place is what I expect from a sports tavern. I feel comfortable and well attended when I'm there. You can see the game from any table due to the abundance of monitors. The food is tasty and reasonably priced."

  • "If you live in the Vinings/Smyrna area, come eat here! The food & service is always awesome (in 6+ years never had a complaint)! If your into sports this place is awesome - nice energy, but you can still enjoy the game. If your a beer aficionado, pop it, they have a plethora of draft beers. The brunch on Sunday is fantastic; the steak & eggs entree is enough for 3 & the skillets are always a good choice; and who can pass up a $5.00 bloody mary bar (great pour of a good vodka)?! Ask for Whitney, shes fantastic, (as is the entire staff)."

  • "We went with a group to watch football. The food was better than typical bar food a d plenty of TVs to watch the game. Good atmosphere - not too loud , but felt "Alive". Not too noisy that we couldn't talk which was great."

  • "We've had our college football watch parties at McCray's this season. It's been a fun place for our group and we've enjoyed good food and great service!"

  • "A group of four of us went and had pastrami sandwiches. They were not what we expected. All had dried pastrami that seems like they tried to fry in oil to juice it up. All sandwiches were served on white bread, not toasted, but just plain white bread. Not good. What was good was the beer selection and our waiter. This restaurant is located in an upscale area and you would think that the food would be better then it was. We won't be dining there again or recommending it."

  • "App came out with meal. Messed up on order. I'm inflexible because of wrong dish served so had to watch him eat instead of having dinner together. Open table sends email that I'm a no show, I showed, wish I hadn't."

  • "We go for trivia every week. It seems they're never staffed properly. It's always so slow and hard to get a drink."
    Dined on 9/11/2013
  • "We were seated promptly, but we were not given a wine / beer list. When the waitress finally arrived at our table to take drink orders (after 5 minutes), she realized we didn't have drink menus, so she left to go get them. She returned with a wine & cocktail list (but no beer list) about 4 minutes later, then disappeared again. Although I repeated my order twice, my order came out wrong. So we wait for the waitress to come over to check on us so that we can ask for this to be corrected.... and we wait... finally we just give up on waiting on her to check that our food came out correctly -- we actually have to get up and go inside to get someone to help us with the meal they messed up. Lastly, the food was bland."

  • "I have been at McCray's Tavern before but never for Sunday Brunch. We arrived around 11:30 and there were only a few customers in the restaurant. The food was okay but not great. Brunch is off the menu so there are only about 10 items. You can, however, order off the regular menu. I recommend this place for lunch or dinner but not for brunch."

  • "one of my favorites since I moved to Atlanta years ago; abundant parking, great pub food as well as some fantastic entrees, fantastic lunch choice; all served in a warm atmosphere by energetic and friendly staff! If you live in Vinings, Riverside, Smyrna - this should be your place. OH, AMAZING selection of draft beers; always cold & delicious. Ask for Sean at the bar, one of the Brittney's or Whitney in the dining area. Great to watch games!"

  • "Good food, good time. I recommend going. My group had a wide variety of meals. My roommate was raving over the chicken salad panini, I had a steak worthy of a steakhouse. And beer lovers would enjoy there large selection of beers on tap. Also it's in a cool Area if you've never been there before."

  • "We went for Mother's Day brunch. There was a buffet that was reasonably priced for the menu. Their regular menu was also available if you didn't want the buffet, which a lot of places don't do. Noticed at times some of the music was not fitting for the occasion, but it was music I liked so it didn't bother me. We had a party of 8 that include a 5 yr old and 22 month old. They ate their food without issue. Kids ate free. We all left saying we would do it again."

  • "you just can't beat this place - in the six years since Ioved here I've never had a bad experience here (I go 2 to 4 x a week) BEAT BRUNCH in Vinings area, Bloody Mary bar can't be beat! Awesome staff with great food at a reasonable price - perfect combo! Ask for one of the Britney's or Whitney, Sean or Ashley at bar - just wonderful service! iIf your into sports - they have every game in the world available! one of my favorites!"

  • "McCray's is a great neighborhood spot. It is a good place to hang out and have a few good drinks. The highlight is the service staff. They are friendly and make a pretty decent drink. The food options at McCrays, for me, are limited. It doesn't have great bar food, but it does have a great atmosphere."

  • "Recently had gamil in from out of town and took everyone to McCray's. We had a wonderful time at McCray's and always seem to be please when going with this choice. We had Gina as a server and she was top notch. We always receive great service from McCrays but all party members commented on how great Gina's service was. We will continue to visit McCrays and will always have on our list when we have friends or family in from out of town. It never fails that we go to McCrays and everyone is pleased with selection, venue and service - which is great when you have a large group to please."

  • "This is a great neighborhood sports bar. Its a great place to watch a game! The menu selection is great especially for a sports bar. There is a nice selection of both nice restaurant entrees and bar foods. The food was good, but greasy. I had the scallops and my fiance had a burger, and we both felt that our food was good but too rich due to the amount of oil. The flavor otherwise was good. Definitely a place worth trying. We will definitely be back."

  • "This was a great find. Lots of menu options and our Open Table reservation got us right in to a reserved table even though others were waiting a bit on a Friday night. Service was very attentive and we were served our meal within 20 minutes of sitting down. Although I was a bit hesitant based on some of the other reviews, I'm glad that I decided to go to McCray's. Very comfortable ambiance and flavorful food along with friendly staff. We had the portobello mushroom appetizer, McCray's House Salad, and the pulled chicken BBQ sandwich. Nice choices."

  • "The food at McCrays has always been great, but over the last year the service has become really bad. The standards for hiring servers has dropped. It can take upwards of 20 minutes just to place your order. The managers used to be highly visible, but now they rarely make an appearance. It seems that McCrays has gotten VERY comfortable with their success."

  • "Waitress and hostess were aweful. When we walked in, the hostess seemed annoyed to stop writing on the entrance board. When she sat us, the waitress literally said in front of us, "Do I really have a table? Anyone else want it?" She had a "chip" on her shoulder the entire brunch. Brunch by the way was not appetizing and skimpy. Will not be going back which is unfortunate because I have always had a great experience there."
