Charleston CharmerFood was excellent, wine list inches thick, ambiance on over drive. Loved the building's ambiance. We did the 4-course tasting menu for $65 each ... Nice way to sample many things.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding dining experienceI cannot say enough good about McCrady's. Charleston has many wonderful restaurants, and McCrady's is the best of the best. The food is creative and delicious, wait staff outstanding and the atmosphere elegant. The tast;ing menu gives foodies an opportunity to sample something in every category from salads to fish to meat and then, dessert.
We were there during Spoleto when restaurants were fully booked, but we never felt rushed. A most memorable experience.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMArt FoodMcCradys is worth every star of its rating. Imaginative presentation, quality ingredients (much of it local) in a beautiful setting. Chef isn't afraid to take chances (although I was not wild about the fried beef tendons, it certainly was a first for me). For a special occasion or if you just want to splurge on a very innovative menu and experience, come on back6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMcCrady's is our favoriteMcCrady's is our favorite restaurant in Charleston! The food is excellent from the first course to dessert. My husband
and I both had the four course meals. The service is attentive, but never rushed. Christian, our server, was knowledgeable
and friendly always making sure our experience was up to our expectations.
The wine, the food, the service .. THE BEST!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Top NotchMcCrady's is very, very expensive. However, the food, drink, and service is worth every penny. Anyone visiting Charleston should put this restaurant vey high on the list of eating establishments to enjoy.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was one of the best dinnersThis was one of the best dinners my husband and I have had. We love to try new restaurants and McCrady's didn't disappoint. Our dinner choices delivered an explosion of flavors and textures that were amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable, professional but yet very friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingHad the four course with pairing. Amazing and wonderful that our server was a certified sommelier. She was accommodating and so friendly. Easily our favorite night out during our short vacation!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was fantastic fromEverything was fantastic from a delicious scotch at the bar through the 4 course meal. Service was impeccable.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary DinnerMy wife and I celebrated our 44th Wedding Anniversary at McCrady's. The food was eloquent; the service "fit for a king" (and queen). We shall remember the evening forever.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic 4 course mealAbsolutely loved my 4 course meal. Delicious from start to finish from shellfish to leg of lamb to chocolately, goodness for dessert! Great wine list.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting Menu- PerfectionWe planned our travels to be here for a return visit for our thirtieth anniversary and were not disappointed. Eight courses plus 'snacks' each so unusual, interesting and different from anything we have ever tasted as to be a revelation. (and we are passionate about food and eat everything, everywhere). There are many fabulous restaurants in Charleston, but if you can afford the best and want a splurge special dinner that is perfect in every way....go for the tasting menu with wine pairings and you will wonder how any other restaurant experience can compare. Expensive and worth it.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat memorable experienceWe celebrated my boyfriends birthday. We had the four course dinner with wine pairings. Gave us the opportunity to experience 8 courses and a selection of wines we never had before. The pace between courses, selections and size of portions was perfect!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNot worth the hypeI thought it was very good food but not the best meal I've ever had in Charleston. It was good but not over the top and the prices are over the top!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in CharlestonOutstanding wine pairing and over the top service. All four courses were unique and perfectly paired. And very reasonably priced.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMTotally enjoyableStart to finish a wonderful dining experience. Every course was delicious and unique. The accompaniments around the main item of individual courses were just as interesting and tasty as the featured component. Staff was friendly and willing to answer all inquiries. The sprng vegetable salad was a delightful new spin on a first course and the pork belly was first rate. My husband and I both had he trout and loved it. The lamb and pork third courses were equally good. The chocolate chess pie and peach desserts finished off the meal perfectly. Portions are just the right size to leave you full and happy, but not feeling grossly over fed.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful.Period.Almost cancelled--thought dinner at 10? Fixed 4 course? Farm to table? We were so thrilled we stayed! Had wonderful cocktails at the bar, exceptionally good. Our waiter, Colin, was fabulous, attentive without being intrusive, and highly professional in his service. And the food was just to die for; like most on these sites, we think we really know good fodd! New Yorkers, foodies, make reservations any city we visit a month ahead, etc., setc. BUt perfect start to finish. I had the pork belly (can't resist), trout, and beef coulotte, fromage blanc. Loved it and the beauty of the room adds quite a bit as well. Don't miss. Worth every penny.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique dining experienceMcCrady's lived up to the billing. A terrific restaurant with wonderful ambience, great food & service6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in CharlestonThis was my second time at Husk. We came to Charleston for Spoleto and the food and Husk is always the best food. Beautiful dining room friendly, knowledgable waiter, friendly, not over the top. This place is on my "always eat here" list!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMclassic - great wine and sommelierfood was very good - we had the scallop appetizer which had very small scallops (surprised by this) and in a frothy and delicate sauce - grouper appetizer was excellent as was dessert
salads were very good5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful RestaurantMcCrady's offers a beautiful atmosphere. We love this restaurant. Our experience on Thursday was only disappointing because the food came out very slowly. We don't expect fast food service in a restaurant like this, but there was at least 45 minutes between the first course and the second. We nearly starved in between courses. Don't think it was the server's fault, but neither did we receive an apology for the very long wait time. Very nice help with our wine -- we were very pleased with it!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingWe had an outstanding meal here. We had the four course meal $65 and wine pairing $35, and thought it was a bargain for the quality of the food and wine received. The portion sizes were perfect. Highly recommend!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrating in StylwWe came to Charleston and McCrady's to celebrate our 25th Anniversary and it was a great dining experience. My husband and I each ordered from the four course menu and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and the wine. Each course was perfectly prepared and they gave us a flute of champagne in recognition of our anniversary. I would recommend McCrady's highly.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMImaginative food with a flairMy grouper was delightful--succulent, flavorful and fresh, with an interesting melange of tastes. The salad was also memorable--local ingredients put together in an unusual and tasty combination. The historic building was also fun to explore! Save money by requesting the a la carte menu. The prix fixe menu offers more food than most people want to eat. We enjoyed the chocolate dessert.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGo with the wine pairing! The wine pairings with the four-course dinner were superb.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWow
A real gourmetWow
A real gourmet experience
When in Charleston dine here5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFarm to table perfectionFew chefs have the talent or wisdom to source ingredients with this level of integrity then produce dishes of this calibre.
Every dish was sublime- the service was spot on
This is one of the finest restaurants in Charleston, which has turned out to be an incredible dining and drinking Mecca
Room was tasteful and elegant
We had a truly wonderful experience5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston GemExquisitely conceived food, which remains true to sustainable sourcing.
The service is perfect - professional and warm - with the right amount of interaction.
And the food - simply delicious. The most outstanding dish we tasted was the pork belly with chervil scented faro - so much more than it reads. (And this from someone who dines out a lot and has pork and bacon fatigue.) Fish dishes and lamb were lovely too.
Superb wine service by the bottle and with the pairings.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMEXCELLENTGreat food and wine selection in a perfect ambience atmosphere. Chef Tasting Menu is to die for.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet ambianceIn a time where every restaurant seems to strive to make meals seem like rock concerts, McCrady's does the opposite. We enjoyed a lovely, intimate meal of local vegetables, fish and pork.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as it gets4course menu with pairings was the best dining experience I could imagine. You will not find better value anywhere. Absolutely outstanding.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service!Everything was wonderful. From the time we entered the door til the time we left! We loved everything. Our waitress chelsey was outstanding. We can't wait to go back!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choice for a fabulousExcellent choice for a fabulous dining experience in Charleston! A must!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston food at its bestFrom the moment we walked into this beautiful brick and glass restaurant, we knew we were in for a great evening. Our service staff was so courteous and professional . We chose the four-course menu and each course was presented beautifully and the taste was exceptional. We would highly recommend this restaurant and should be the number one restaurant on your list when you visit Charleston.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service byGreat food and service by Gina! The wine list is excellent. The place is nice and quiet, and the sommelier is very knowledgeable. Great restaurant!!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe lamb was superb. CocktailThe lamb was superb. Cocktail list with interesting variety. Thouught the portion size of the desserts was a bit small.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday dinnerI took my wife here for her birthday and it was a great move on my part. Excellent food (the morel mushrooms were amazing) and service - probably the best dining experience we have ever had in our nearly 17 years of marriage.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat and very inventive. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at McCrady's. the staff is very welcoming and very knowledgable in the food that they serve. The food is beautifully prepared and delicious. I highly recommend McCrady's.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved McCrady'sMcCrady's was our first dining experience in Charleston and it was wonderful. The entrance is located in a charming alley just off Bay St. From the moment we entered we were treated with warm, friendly hospitality. The room is has a high ceiling with large brick arches and warm mellow lighting. It is elegant without being stuffy and most of the men were in nice shirts but no sportcoat. Our server was very good about describing the various dishes and proved to be excellent at pairing wines with our dinner. The food was excellent. I started with the pork belly appetizer and my wife had the baby scallops. Both were delicious. For entrees we had the duck breast and the chicken. Amazing. I highly recommend McCrady's.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMhistorically wonderful! The four course dinner was beautifully presented and unique in its offerings and preparation.
Just the right quantities of quality items.
Expensive , but it was worth it.
Sometimes you pay a lot and dont feel there is anything special about what you had to eat or where you went.
I felt good about this one.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at McCrady'sThis was our final night in Charleston and did not want to leave without dining here. Wow what a great place.Clearly one of our best dining experiences of all time. The food is unbelievable!!! Our server Randall and the sommelier were both excellent as well. This was on a similar dining level as was our experience at Restaurant Gray Danko in San Francisco. Highly recommended.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood heaven for a foodieI had the four-course tasting menu at McCrady's. It was unbelievable from start to finish. Our waiter, Matt, helped my friend and me decide which would be best from each category to each of our individual likings, and he hit the jackpot with each dish. The service was impeccable, the wait staff was attentive and knowledge, and the ambience was incredible. The location is also perfect within downtown Charleston, and the historic house the restaurant is in is truly amazing. And most likely even more important than all of those things was that the food was AMAZING. Impeccable. One of the best meals I've head in my life, and I've dined at some of the finest restaurants in the world. It's a must-go.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly worth the expenseIt's worth the money to go with the chef's 4-course menu. A wide variety of selections for each course (starter, fish, meat, dessert). Every dish was exquisitely prepared and presented. Staff was exceptionally attentive and pleasant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe felt the menu was limited. We felt the menu was limited. Local ingredients (farm to table) are great, but they should not rely on them exclusively. Put another way, they should have a mixed greens salad on the menu all the time.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal. service, and atmosphereI have dined well the world over and the meal I had here was one of the best. Very comfortable and stylish atmosphere. Knowledgeable, attentive, and enthusiastic service. We had the fixed price four course dinner. Menu changes based on available products. I eat volume and left content. Does always happen at tis price range. Food was delicious. Celebrated my son's graduation from University of South Carolina and so I was quite happy to begin with.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMcCrady's ForeverStaff is spectacular. Ambiance is everywhere. Presentation of food is outstanding.
The food is excellent. Restaurant is very clean and crisp.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience!one our best dining experiences ever. food was incredible and wine pairings were just right. service was impeccable.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMcCrady's Near Perfect Once AgainA friend and I enjoyed another memorable dinner at McCrady's. As is my habit, we ordered from the fantastic 4 course Chef's Tasting Menu. Our server, Gina, was excellent. Service was attentive and course arrival was well timed. McCrady's staff makes diners feel welcome and you are never rushed. Standout menu items that night included the amazing raw pickled oysters presented as an "amuse bouche", the stone crab with popcorn miso, and Cobia with asparagus and wild beach herbs. Everything is a treat for the eyes and the palate. You will be happy you treated yourself to the McCrady's experience!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDining- Gracious and DeliciousThe four-course dining menu was an all-star experience!
McCrady's is truly a favorite choice for us. Whatever the season, their menu selections offer the best of what is fresh and local in inventive, elegant, and delicious ways, without being fussy or pretentious.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMcCrady's was recommendedMcCrady's was recommended to us by a local Dallas Chef, Chris Ward at Mercury Grill,
a friend of our son, Rob
The food was excellent and we enjoyed our time there
The young lady who served us was excellent as she explained it all to us5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA must when visiting CharlestonI've lived in Charleston for 3 years and this was my first visit to McCrady's and the only negative comment I can make is that I haven't been there sooner. Everything from the service to the food to the wine list was impecable. I recommend the tasting menu, although it's a little pricey - it's a MUST!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
