  • "Not for "meat and potatoes" types. Food is artistic, creative, delicious, expensive. So outside the norm, it is worth extra expense. Four course fixed price menu, plus drinks, tax, tip. Actually, it is a good value."

  • "Last minute weekend trip to Charleston and found our way to McCrady's. I am definitely a foodie, hubby is a farm boy with a steak and potato appetite. I felt the food was excellently prepared and presented, hubby felt the portions were too small for the price. We both agreed that our server was aloof at best; she barely smiled or spoke. The various persons delivering the courses were very descriptive of the plates before us. I enjoy having the prix fixe menu because I like lots of courses and this keeps the al a carte price from skyrocketing. The restaurant is beautiful and just what one would want in Charleston. Overall I enjoyed everything except the peach tart (bland) but the peach sorbet was the best I've ever had."

  • "Dinner was delightful. The food was superb, the service truly outstanding, and the setting is quite and pleasantly decorated. I am a hobby chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America and McCrady's is among the best I have experienced. Prices are reasonable for what is offered--about $120 per person for food, wine, and tip. A seldom seen offer is wines the chef pairs with each course in half glasses making it possible to get the right pairing for each course in a four course fix priced meal without drinking too much."

  • "My wife and I did the 4 course meal with wine pairing. I thought our server's selections for the pairings were right on the money. 1 small suggestion. The second course did not have a selection that did not contain seafood. There are many that do not or cannot eat seafood. I would just suggest that there be an alternate option. I would definitely return again. We had a great time."

  • "We chose McCrady's for our 20th Anniversary. The food was expertly prepared and delicious, but was not quite satisfying or gratifying (Chef Brock is clearly preoccupied with other endeavors and has his eye off this prize). The service was pleasant and professional, but slightly off with waitstaff not quite in synch. The server who brought the 1st course described the steak tartare as "a raw cheeseburger" which kind of ruined the moment. The grouper was excellent, but the snapper plain. The ribeye was perfect; the lamb was ok, with an odd combo of cherries, pickled chanterelles, and a corn/pesto lump that was not tasty. Maybe it was just an off night, but having been to McCrady's before, I know it can be a better."

  • "We went to McCradys for our 35th wedding anniversary. When we entered, the hostess greeted us with a "happy anniversary" and informed us they were giving us their finest table in the house. And it was superb! And our whole experience was superb, from the food to the wine to the knowledgeable server. We enjoyed the 4 courses paired with wine. Our server suggested we each order different foods so we could sample both. A wonderful suggestion, as each plate was excellent and we got to taste more of the wonderful food. Thank you McCradys for a delightful evening and helping to make our anniversary special."

  • "We loved everything about McCrady's except the music. The chef has chosen his version of blues -- which in reality doesn't resemble classic blues at all. We voiced our opinion and asked that the music be turned down. The manager approached us and gave a half-hearted apology for the music. Chef is very talented and creative with food. He needs to leave the music to someone else."

  • "Different place from when we use to go ..not different bad just different , not the tavern feel. Most of the tables for 2 have you looking into the kitchen or the wall so ask for a table for 4. The 4 course menu is interesting and has matching wines for each course. All the courses were good the matching wines not so much..too sweet or in the case of the red to sour. Cocktails had to be sent back and remade..heavy hand on the vermouth after special request to be light. Excellent smiling service. In the end the bill of 300.00 for cocktails and dinner and matching wines (plus tip) makes this a bit to expensive for the experience. Skip the matching wines and order your own choice. The menu is fun and well done. Tables are spread out ."

  • "Each course of our four course dinner was fabulous, unique, and just the right portions. The beef tartar was something I wasn't sure I would necessarily enjoy but it was extremely nice. Others had the shrimp which as excellent We had two "entrees", one of fish and one of beef. The snapper with the skin was amazing and the small rib eye was perfect. It had an unusual blueberry and beet sauce which made it very unique. Our desserts were quite nice; I've never had grits as a dessert but it was prepared in a way that made it akin to an ice cream or sorbet; excellent. The chocolate with sorbet was great. Great wine and drinks. And the waiter was very informed and happy to engage with us. We were there for over two enjoyable hours."

  • "At first, four courses seem overmuch. Until you realize each course is a small plate and a bit more than a taste. It adds up to a nice overall meal. However, one might want to order a full serving of one or two of the offerings. It's a little tricky. One criticism: My third course of lamb chops turned out to be a smidgeon of lamb chop and a hearty piece of "lamb belly". Not as listed or requested and very tough to the point of inedible. However, the service is first rate."

Luckily the bread was fantastic and helped fill us up or else we would have left hungry. The ambiance is lovely and service competent yet unobtrusive. Quite probably, it was the best meal we have ever had and we have been to many fine restaurants over the years. Four course fixed price meal was truly memorable. We enjoy quality over large portion size. They appropriately kept the portions smaller, so we could have room for the fourth course...dessert. From the first taste of our first course we knew we were into a taste extravaganza. Each course featured local fresh herbs and sauces to be savored. Staff was excellent...well informed and went out of their way to describe what the chef intended for each course."

  • "My husband and I went to dinner here to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Cocktail menu made it diffacult to chose just one -- ended up with the Chesterfield and it was delicious. The food was over the top. The blending of the different ingredients in each course was so enjoyable and delicious. I enjoy eating smaller portions and I can honestly say, I could have eaten less. Portions were generous for a 4 course dinner. Can't wait to go back."
