A word from McCormick's Fish House - Seattle
McCormick's Fish House & Bar is Seattle's classic seafood restaurant, reminiscent of traditional fish houses on the East Coast and San Francisco, and a Seattle dining institution for more than 30 years.

Built in 1927 as Seattle's Oakland Hotel, the McCormick's Fish House building is now a bastion of old-Seattle in the shadow of the towering 76 story Columbia Center. Multi-level dining areas, aged dark wood and brass and walls thick with nostalgic memorabilia give McCormick's a traditional and intimate feel.

McCormick's Fish House pioneered the "fresh sheet" in Seattle's restaurant scene. Originally featuring five or six items daily, today the restaurant features more than 20 varieties of fresh seafood listed daily on the ever-changing menu.

The venerable bar features a full selection of liquors, beers, and an extensive wine list. McCormick's oyster bar also offers a wide selection of fresh oysters each day.

The trout almandine is supposed to be a light breading with a subtle almond and lemon. The far too thick breading overwhelmed the fish taste. I did not ask for a re=do because the recipe was flawed, not the preparation.

Service was good. The plate could have been warmed and the rice on the special dish of the night was plain. For a special it wasn't that special and it was $32 some dollars; seems high given it was just some brocclini (poor spelling!), rice, and a piece of halibet covered in coconut sauce. Attended w/ my boss up from Texas and three other co-workers. They appeared to enjoy their food-also the boss bought an expensive bottle of wine on a separate bill but the bottle was left at the opposite side of the table than where she sat...made for uncomfortable reach.

The evening at McCormick's Fish House started off bad. They had no record of the reservation that Open Table is asking me to review. So we had to sit in the bar area. It was fine, but not what I wanted and not the reason I made a reservation. Next time, if there is one, that I eat at McCormick's I'll have to call to verify that I they have my reservation.

My husband and I were in Seattle for just one night after a 5-day sightseeing trip in and around Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Parks, and we wanted a small dose of 'city' dining. Mccormicks fit the bill. It was just a short walk from our hotel and right at the foot of the Columbia Center, which was convenient for us. The food was outstanding and served in appropriate intervals. They were out of one or two items (of course the items we had selected) but in the case of the sorbet my husband ordered for dessert, the floor manager told us later it was because they were not satisfied with the quality of it and decided to not serve it to their guests. All in all, the food and service were great and we would return on our next visit to Seattle.

The new York steak was cooked perfectly. .. but needed sauce to make it taste good.... A great steak place shouldn't need extra flavor to make it taste good. For $39.99 I thought it would of been better.

I had the pleasure of dining at this establishment tonight and being served by Wendy. Upon the initial greeting and throughout our wonderful meal, she was incredible. Her skill and expertise were excellent and knowledge of menu items perfect. Our fish - trout and sole were prepared in a wonderful fashion and tasted fresh and flavorful. Job well done. Wonderful dining experience.

We always ensure we visit McCormick's when we visit Seattle....nobody does fish better! This visit provided great fish, perfectly done vegetables, and great service, as always. We enjoy the older décor....its seems like visiting the same place we went to 30 years ago. We even saved room for desert this time, and both items were fabulous. Well done, McCormick's, we knew we could depend on you!

Had steelhead trout, grilled with apple slices, purple potatoes, leeks, and drizzled with garlic butter sauce and fresh blackberries. Perfectly cooked, extremely good. Also had excellent clms in a garlic Chardonnay sauce with a few cherry tomatoes. Being celiac, I appreciated that this meal (and most other items on the menu) were gluten free. Would definitely return for more seafood!

Went early before show at the 5th. Not a bad walk for a great place to go early and take some time before a show. Our server was amazing. Highlights: the complimentary desert for my wife's birthday was perfect, and blind wine tasting. We were having trouble picking so she brought 4 but didn't tell us what they were. In 25 years of "date nights" no one has ever done that before. It was great fun. The food was outstanding. We opted for an assortment of small plates and split a salad and everything was excellent. We also tried a couple specialty cocktails that were like nothing we'd had before. Occasionally we'll find one that earns a spot in the collection we try to replicate at home, but never before have we found two in one night.

McCormick's is located outside of the Pikes Place hub and Pioneer Square central area so it's easy to miss. Fortunately we decided to try it. I had been craving fresh seafood and this hit the spot. It was also very convenient to our hotel, The Arctic DoubleTree in Pioneer Square, and only one block up the hill from the light rail (the climb might burn off a bite or two of dessert). The service was excellent. The seafood choice is based on what's fresh. Our server told us if we liked a particular dish but wanted it done with a different fish we could do that. I got the halibut cooked the way their salmon entrée was prepared. I highly recommend McCormick's and will eat there every time I'm in town.

Visited McCormick's Fish House over the holiday weekend, even though it was nearly empty they sat us in the back of the restaurant. Food and service was great, but it was strange to be hidden in the back of a nearly empty restaurant. So, noise level was based upon only 4-5 tables being filled.

Our server was wonderful. A man who clearly was well seasoned in the industry. He observed my date and I and was very keen on when was a good time to approach the table to take orders or check in. That was the good part. The food, however, was just not palatable. His tuna steak was seared but still very cold and unappetizing. My crab cakes were unseasoned sitting on a puddle of flavorless sauce and chalk full of tiny pieces of shell. Our meal was served with a scoop of plain white rice that was very sticky. Overall our bill was $92.00 and a complete waste of money. Well, the Basil Hayden's was delicious. Though it was served in a scratched up very old glass. Bottom line is you can't charge four star prices for the experience we had.

We spent a night in Seattle after an Alaskan cruise, and were excited when we saw this restauarant on the way to our hotel. We were looking for a great seafood dinner to wrap up our trip, and they delivered. We even had salmon from Alaska, which was a risk just coming from there, but it was absolutely amazing! The kids loved the steamed clams and white king salmon as well.

We were very pleased with our 56th Anniversary dinner in Seattle....The service and food were excellent. Also, they printed on their menu "Happy 56th Anniversary" and brought us a delicious dessert....We eat again the next night. My only question, White Salmon, very delicious and interesting. Never had heard of it! Dr. James & Cheryl Young. PS In all the excitement, my husband left his Visa card at the restaurant and it was locked in the safe until we eat the next evening. Thanks!!!

I dine here often. Friends visit from Arizona annually and insist on having lunch at McCormick's while they're here. Have tried most things on the menu and all have been excellent. Most recently reacquainted myself with Shrimp Louie at the suggestion of our waiter - she certainly was onto something. The salad was fresh, crisp and tasty. Will definitely return. . .

The food was outstanding ( amazing pasta and seafood, the Caesar salad was deadly), great wine, very competent service. The only drawback - lack of ambiance and the decor was on a modest side. I selected McCormick's Fish House in Seattle to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. After making reservations a few days earlier and letting them know about the special occasion, I would have expected a little bit better treatment. I had asked for a table out of the way so it would be a little quieter. But they put us in the middle of the restaurant. The service was OK -- but not very helpful. The salmon had some bones left in it. I felt the experience was a let down and disappointing. We will not be going back to this restaurant.

The Good: Service and staff were fine. It is a historic location with memorabilia related to Seattle. It had the look and feel of a restaurant for serious people wanting a serious dinner...and that is a good thing. The Bad: Food looked and tasted like it sat under a heat lamp for a long time. I ordered alfredo with prawns, but received alfredo with tiny shrimp. It was oily and I only at half of it (even though I was ravenous). The other three in my party ordered fish, which also sat under a heat lamp. No one commented on their food one way or another. The food was vastly overpriced. I know that Seattle has a high minimum wage, which drives up prices, but what we received was not even close to the prices charged.

This was our first time here and it was a great Happy Hour. I wish they had a few more selections as far as nibble bites. Loved the parmesan fries, and the mussels were great. Wish bread came with it, so we could get all those great juices, but that's ok. The drink menu for happy hour was great! All in all, will definitely come back..maybe for lunch or dinner.

Used OpenTable to make a reservation at McCormick's as it was very close to the hotel I was in and wanted to grab something nearby. The waiter was efficient, although sometimes aloof and a little gruff. Food was ok, but the price was pretty high. I imagine you are contributing heavily to the rent of all establishments in the downtown area of Seattle. I had the trout, which was fine, although the portions of sides were pretty small. My wife opted for an appetizer, which she enjoyed. Interior is dark and old in appearance. Overall, I'd say it's a good place to grab dinner, but it won't leave you amazed.

Disappointed is the best descriptor. Interior is very tired feeling, brass & dark wood that looked decades old. Clam chowder was good-not great.
