Diner Reviews
  • "we have been there several times over the years for special occasions the last time may have been 3 or 4 years ago. I was surprised to see a significant menu change. No more escargot etc. and both a new look to the room. I remember sitting booths in the middle making the restaurant feel cozier and less spacious."

  • "Tuna was dry and tough. The waitress gave us a hard sell to buy an eating club card that was confusing and contained erroneous information. Give the great restaurants in Denver, we won't go back."

  • "Enjoyed my lunch. Had gluten free options which is always a plus. I was also able to conduct business."

  • "It was a great place to celebrate an anniversary. There were quite a few other diners who were in jeans and t-shirts though and it didn't seem to for the ambiance. We had a great knowledable waiter."

  • "The food was delicious. I highly recommend the stuffed shrimp. The red pepper and white cheddar mashed potatoes that comes with the shrimp is as heavenly as it sounds. I wish that I could eat here every day."

  • "This restaurant is in an elegant, old building with much charm. The service was warm and efficient. We really wanted to like this place but the food was very underwhelming. The sourdough bread was delicious and our salads were good although mine was a bit overdressed. The entrees were disappointing, though. We both had salmon but different preparations. The fish itself was cooked well but under-seasoned. One came with a berry reduction but there was not enough of it on the plate to taste. When asked, though, the server did bring more. The other had a maple-whiskey glaze, tasty but once again, hardly enough to taste. The roasted veg that accompanied the fish were tasty. All in all, for the price, very disappointing."

  • "Above average for ambiance, atmosphere, quality of food and good service. The wait staff could use better training - attitudes were fantastic."

  • "McCormick's used to be top notch and very classy. No more! We were out for a romantic dinner, a sales pitch at the end was omg yuk! My plate had a shape that was so strange I could not begin to describe it , but I have seen nicer plates at Wal-Mart. The shape was so terrible that my fork kept falling off into my lap. Having a manager come by to ask us how everything was is fine is not what I associate with up scale dining; a seasoned wait person can handle that just fine. I would come back for lunch on the patio or a drink in the bar, but not dinner."

  • "The lobster bisque, though pricey, was excellent -- multiple chunks of lobster with the bisque poured over. I liked the pan fried oysters. My wife loved the grilled salmon. Our server was very personable and was attentive without being overly so. A very enjoyable meal."

  • "Very similar menu to siblings but unique old location within Oxford Hotel first floor."

  • "Our anniversary dinner was wonderful. The service was gracious, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was perfectly prepared and presented. We were able to take out time and soak up the atmosphere, delight in the food, and quietly celebrate. Thank you"

  • "McCormick's Fish House has what I consider the best Buttermilk Fried Oysters I've found in Denver. Order them as an appetizer, a main or both! Their French 75's are quite tasty, too. Jason is an excellent waiter, if he is there when you go."

  • "Providing consistent, high quality food and service is the standard here. Wait staff are mostly long time professionals, new folks are well trained, courteous, and professional. The restaurant is located in the venerable Oxford Hotel, so you get some very historic ambience. Booths are a bit tight, but comfortable seating is available at the many tables. Recently updated, this is a very good place for business lunches and dinners. But do not forget that they also serve breakfast. I often arrive early in my commute to have the Oxford Breakfast, which is always great. The menu is changed daily, and is quite arguably the best fish restaurant downtown. Convenient location, valet parking, easy access, & right next to the booming LoDo"

  • "The room was about 30% full, so not packed, but we sat for about 10 minutes before the hostess came back and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered a wine and a beer. 5 minutes later a waiter stopped by saying he would be right back. Another 5 minutes and a different waitress comes to serve us. She said our drink order was in. 10 minutes later we get our drinks. My wife ordered an angus filet and crab special. I asked for help between 3 items and got a suggestion. When the food shows I get the wrong order. My wifes steak is tough and the crab is basically nonexistent. After they take mine back, the right order is disappointing. Again, lack of crab. Never was approached by a manager. I hope it was just a bad night on their end."

  • "We did not realize there was also a restaurant side, so we ate in the bar side, which was not exactly the ambiance we were looking for. However, the food surpassed all expectations. We had the tuna appetizers, the stuffed salmon and the shrimp trilogy. Everything we ate was incredible. We will certainly return. "

  • "We had a party of 14 attending a celebration for a college graduation. The original reservation was for 12 but they were able to accommodate 2 more guests. The service by Lauren was great and the food was amazing. Several of us had the Lobster Bisque and enjoyed it!. The prices were reasonable for both the food and drink. We plan on dining here again and will be recommending this restaurant to our friends."

  • "We made a reservation but showed up slightly early to grab a drink in the bar while we waited for our 4th member to arrive. The waitress was friendly, younger and possibly inexperienced but brought our first drinks promptly. She had another table nearby of about 9-10 people. When our 4th arrived, she was too busy processing separate checks for each individual person at her other table, so our friend went directly to the bar to order a drink and was all but told that he could not order a drink through the bar. The bartender finally allowed him to, and then we waited for almost a half an hour before the waitress came to see us again. With the bartender standing around and 3 other employees not helping at all, I was a little more than upset."

  • "Food is always consistently great. Servers are very nice - a little inexperienced. Service isn't bad but they need some training to accompany the high end menu. "

  • "The disappointment was that the Easter Brunch menu was not very extensive and the choices were pretty much mediocre. Our waiter was very good, but our wait for our brunch selections took some time! "

  • "As always, the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. However, the hostess seemed to take an immediate dislike to us, seating us in a back room that was at least 10 degrees warmer than the rest of restaurant. When I politely asked her if we might find a table in a more temperate part of the restaurant, she seated us directly in front of the kitchen. While certainly cooler, we couldn't figure out why we were placed at this noisy 4-top when there were five others open. We figured they might have been reserved, but no-- they remained unused the entire evening. Not a nice way to be treated, and not what we expect from McCormick's after dining there for the past eight years."

  • "The food was bland. I was disappointed in the lack of seasoning. The drinks were way over priced! The atmosphere and service were superb."

  • "Had a great meal on Rockies Home opener. Our servers name was Dean and he did a great job, even if he was a Red Sox fan he didn't abuse his bragging rights. We went on to enjoy the rest of the day because of our winning lunch!"

  • "We went here on a casual 2nd date and had a nice time. We came in around 7 and had a couple of drinks while talking and then ordered food. The drinks were pretty normal, as expected, and the food was amazing. The waitress wasn't stopping by every 2 seconds which was nice but she was definitely there when she needed to be. Perfect timing. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend and will be back."

  • "While the ambience has changed a bit (we liked the tall booths), the service is still the best in town with Jason manning our table! Food overall is just a tad less great than before Landry's owned it so I would suggest they work on that and serve the food hotter! The Kissing Schrimp is to die for! Seafood platter was a bit overcooked but flounder and rockfish were perfect. We were on the early side and the restaurant was definitely not full so I would suggest a bit of work in the kitchen is in order to maintain the high standards of the original McCormick's!"
