Diner Reviews
  • "Fabulous food, great service, waiter couldnt hv done anymore to ensure we had everything we wanted, there was 2 young children in our party & they were served food to the same standard as the adultswhich always pleases me. Definately recommend and will return."

  • "Although the steak and seafood were good, this ambiance, service and overall dining experience were sub par compared to other restaurants in the same price range that I have been to. (i.e. Eddie V's, Trulucks, Capital Grill, Vic and Anthony's) The restaurant was maybe 25% occupied at 7:30 on a Saturday night, perhaps everyone else already knew what I found out."

  • "Incredible array of oysters. Malpeques from Prince Edward Island were superb.....and entree of scallops very well prepared and presented. Only issue was service deteriorated as it got busier. Will return to try more of the oyster offerings and some more entrees. The "quatro leches" dessert, while delicious, did not taste any different from "tres leches"."

  • "There were three of us for lunch. Everything was great except for my wife's food. She got the chicken parmesan, and it was overcooked and dry."

  • "I use this restaurant to run roundtables for a group of executives in many times for lunches but this visit was the worst I've ever had causing my client and myself to be late for our meetings in the afternoon. My client arrived at 11:55 due to the rain we ordered at 12:05 but did not receive our food until about 12:50. We both ordered tacos from the lunch menu. When we finally got our food we had a very quickly and get out of there as quickly as possible."

  • "Park for free next to the restaurant. They will validate your parking ticket."

  • "After mixed reviews fromthe last few visits to this place, this is our last. Horrid service all around. Manager tried to offer us something comp but I told her we don't accept freebies when we complain, we do it so perhaps things will get fixed. From the minute we sat at the bar before dinner, til the waiter finally brought our check, we considered just leaving. This is not the first time, but again, it is the last."

  • "I had the tilapia on the cesar plank, which was really good but my husband had a scallop dish that was to die for. My hibiscus margarita was absolutley wonderful."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "As the title states, the menu is certainly extensive as well as the wine list. The food also was quite good. However, the service was adequate and the server certainly knowledgeable but it seemed he was covering a large area which made it difficult to get his attention on a couple of occasions."

  • "We ordered halibut. We were served trout. We ordered two family style sides because the menu did not specify the entrees we ordered already came with sides and the waitress didn't bother to explain that. The waitress left a tray of dirty dishes one foot from our chairs for quite a long time. We finally had to ask another waitress to move it. We waited long periods for drink refills. Out medium rare 8oz filet was served medium well and tasted like it had marinated in broccoli. All the other food we had was just bland."

  • " Landry's took over this chain recently and the change is obvious. Jumbo Shrimp the really are medium sized...19 bucks for 4 oysters Rockefeller......10 dollar salads that couldn't feed a rabbit. Having to request for a water refill or more bread. Really? I worked for McCormick and Schmicks while in college...This would never passed back in the day...It has become another chain...Avoid this place and go for some local place instead."

  • "I enjoyed the atmosphere and complimentary parking. However, I was not pleased with the gumbo I ordered The roux was too dark and over cooked. Being a native of New Orleans, I know how gumbo should taste and sorry, but you might want to work on your roux! I'll be back but will probably try something else."

  • "Experience with M&S has always been very good if i dine in. this time i choose a outdoor dining since it was still bright at 730pm and they only serve the special oyster at the bar area. the area was not so crowded but still i guess its still short of staff, staff are extremely friendly when they attend to us. but i have to ask for them almost everytime, the waiting time is longer than expected. Food is great!"

  • "Consistently deliver great quality food, good service, a a nice atmosphere."

  • "We ordered a shrimp appetizer highly recommended by our server, only part we enjoyed were fried plaintain chips - the shrimp were mushy dense, rather than crispy as fresher shrimp would be, so after trying one, we left the other one uneaten, the accompanying "salad" was mostly wet head lettuce with some type of ?salsa type veggies which had no particular flavor - definitely don't recommend this and the restaurant would be well advised to take this off the menu pronto or correct the quality of the shrimp and make the accompanying "salad"/veggies more tasty. Salmon and caramel apple pie definitely recommend"

  • "I am not certain if the a shift change was in progress, but certain employees did not have a clue about specific situations. The reservations plainly stated 12 year wedding anniversary open for recommendations, and no special preparations were made. I had to force some type of complimentary wine or gesture for a special day with what was suppose to be a special place."

  • "I ordered barbecue bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits. The barbecue sauce was too over powering. Could not taste bacon. The grits were very good."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Fish was great as usual, but the service was poor. It took a long time to place our order and we has to get the Manager to get our bill."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Our server was attentive and our "starter" orders came out quickly, followed at the right interval by our entrees. Following the server's delivery of the entrees for two of our diners, he turned and either he bumped the folding stand for the tray of entrees or someone else did, and plop, the two remaining entree orders hit the floor. He apologized and assured us replacements would be out shortly...and they were, so we only had a bit of delay for two or our diners. All in all, we were not upset as those things can happen. To our surprise, when our server brought our check, he said the management insisted on "comping" the two orders that had to be replaced. We will be back."

  • "Looking for a last minute birthday dinner, we found this restaurant to be available at 7 pm Saturday while most others at a similar price point were not. So we booked it and were pleased with the result. We noted in our online reservation that it was for a birthday party, and the staff greeted my daughter with a "happy birthday" and a special menu. Our waiter clearly explained the specials and answered our questions, and gave us time to make our selections. No rushing through dinner to move us out, which was nice. All were very satisfied with the meal and service. Will definitely visit again, although the relatively high price point makes it more for special occasions for us, or for a business dinner, not for a casual anytime meal."

  • "This was the first time eating at this location but I have eaten at M&S before. The Amberjack w/Lemon Butter & Crab was outstanding as were the Crab Cakes my wife had. We had the special Golden Hook Chardonnay, exclusively made for M&S and it was very nice. Service was attentive and polished. My only issue with M&S is the markup on their wines."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "We enjoyed Father's Day at the restaurant. My husband and I had a delicious steak and my daughter enjoyed her shrimp stuffed with crab meat. The kids loved their chicken fingers with fruit. Overall, I rank our outing as a very good experience."

  • "Went to celebrate a special occasion and it was perfect. Great food & wine and service was excellent!"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "The lunch fried shrimp meal was $15, it came with about a handful of fries and five fried shrimp. It definitely wasn't worth $15. Go to a place like Pappadeux where the prices are lower, the portions are bigger, and the food is just as delicious."

  • "Perfect atmosphere and environment for relatively 'high-end' business meeting."

  • "Great food, good service, convenient location. Ambient light is a bit low - hard to read menu and bill."

  • "Good food, great atmosphere. Drinks were a little expensive but service was timely and attentive."

  • "Food was average not bad but not great flavor. Portions are small for the price."

  • "Great experience....we had a family graduation celebration for my daughter and everybody was so nice, congratulating her and give her a special menu to be kept as a token. Also they gave her a free dessert. We had a great time !!!"

  • "Waitress was ok. Didn't pay much attention. Had other waiters help us out during that time."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "ALL 4 of us had different entrees and all 4 said they were fabulous! We also had different desserts and thought they were great. My husband wondered if he could buy a whole Bourbon Pecan Pie. We all agreed we'd have to drive in to town more often and lunch at M & S."

  • "Our first time there at the Town & Country location. Dressed up for the occasion, but discovered it is a casual dining restaurant. Received seating in the back near the server corner - small babies, kids, etc. and parents in very casual fare - I thought it would be more fine dining. Food was good, server was good - not overly attentive but just enough. Would go back but choose another restaurant for any special occasion."

  • "We made a reservation for 5:45pm to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was not full because of the holiday weekend. Our appetizers came out quickly, but our food never did. An entire hour had passed and my husband had to ask the waiter the status of our order--wasn't our actual waiter, but the person who delivers orders to the tables. Our waiter never checked on us. We asked for the check and told them not to worry about our dinner. The customer service manager stalled and then our food came out. Really?! She told us she was going to take off the dinner--ya think? We weren't about to pay for food that we didn't eat. Oh and she said they would treat us like VIPs on our next visit. We won't ever return. "

  • "This restaurant was disappointing. I think it is expensive for the food that you get. We ordered the Lump Crab Tower $13.99 and it was barely a tower with more avocado than anything else and it was tasteless. I had the almond crusted rainbow trout $19.99. & my husband had the seared ahi tuna $28.99. The tuna was ok but my trout was also tasteless. The food was very bland. I had to add salt to everything...lots of it. I would not recommend this place. There are too many other restaurants in Houston with better seafood. "

  • "Our recent experience at M&S was very disappointing. The service was very slow. We were entertaining friends, and it was a bit embarrassing. The explanation given to my husband was "It's prom night". As a customer, I do not expect sub-par service because the restaurant is understaffed for the evening. Additionally, it appeared the restaurant was running low on lettuce given the paltry starter portions delivered to our table. Not my usual experience at M&S, and very disappointing. I will think twice about having dinner there again - they seem to be able to manage the lunch crowd."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "The usual standard of high quality foo, was not met. I would like to think that the fact that there were many big top Prom tables, had something to do with it, but that's not an except-able excuse. When one spends almost $40 for a fish entree, it should taste better than Long John Silver's fish & chips."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "My hallibut came out dry and overcooked. Overall food is over priced and tasteless. I will not be returning."
    Dined on 5/14/2014
  • "This is my favorite but when they have a special event I always get a friend so I don't miss something special. This time was great - delicious, different strawberry deserts! Big success!"

  • "My teenage children and I took my wife, mother and father for Mother's Day. It was an enjoyable evening. We were in the back room which is likely a meeting room normally so it was a little darker than the rest of the restaurant, but there were several good sized tables for large groups on Mother's day. Our main waiter (Clemons) was excellent, but his helper was only fair. My wife and daughter were concerned that the Tuna would be too spicy so the waiter brought them a sample to try. Good thing as it was. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner. "
