Diner Reviews
  • "Food is good and great place for a date night. The food is on the high side but for a special occasion it was perfect!!!"

  • "Love this place. Celebrated my 4th wedding anniversary there. Wonderful experience with waitress. Even substituted the anniversary desert for something different because of my lactose intolerance. Will definitely go back here."

  • "Food was ok, but staff is very junior for the price you pay - no real welcome at the entrance - waiter didn't know anything about wine, was too long bringing the drinks out, forgot to bring any of the sides for our party, and even when reminded brought only one of them; - didn't talk to the menu, specials, etc. - service was if I was at Red Lobster or smth - force sold another bottle of san-pelegrino even though we had a huge bottle out on the table already - huge wait time to pick-up the valet (we waited 25 min)"

  • "We were excited about the recommendation and made reservations for 8:00 on Friday. We shouldn't have bothered. The place was almost empty. Our oysters we barely the size of a nickle and were brought out with only 1 slice of lemon for a dozen. They brought only cocktail sauce (no horseradish as we are used to.) The lobster bisque was oily and heavy and we did not even eat it. It tasted like it had been reducing for days. The entree's were barely adequate and not very tasty. I had crab cakes and they were only served with tarter sauce. I would think a chef could come up with some kind of sauce to top them with. They were served with limp fries and we asked for fresh ones. The fish entree' was small and bland. We will not go back."

  • "I have always loved coming to McCormicks, the food is always great and the servers are always on top of things. I would recommend McCormicks to any seafood lover. A co-worker of mine does not eat seafood and he also enjoyed his burger."

  • "Greeter, Bartender, Waitress/Server all were great. The atmosphere and the hospitality were exceptionally well. A wonderful experience. Can't speak enough on hospitality and friendliness. And the Shrimp Kisses....are a must to try."

  • "I took my husband to McCormick & Schmick's for Fathers Day. The servers were very prompt and we were seated immediately. The appetizers and dessert were great but the entrees were mediocre and undercooked (oysters) and the server picked up my food while I was still eating placing a cup on my food rendering it inedible. In addition, the restrooms seemed to be more suited for a low-cost chain restaraunt. The stalls reminded me of a bus station restroom. Overall, I was not impressed and did not think that the restaurant or food was worth the $115.00 (with tip) that I paid for dinner."

  • "It was a lunch to remember. Our waitress, Tanna was sweet and offered great advice. It was calm and quiet and when they tried to seat us in a booth but we requested a table no problems. The food was out of this world delicious - every person every bite we all enjoyed it immensely."

  • "My overall experience as wonderful. All of our food was delicious. The drinks were very unique but surprisingly tasty. I will definitely be back in the near future."

  • "Seafood not awesome....steaks were great...for being a seafood rest , very disappointed...but service was good..."

  • "We sat facing a wall which looked malformed rather than smooth. The noise level was high. Despite having made a reservation, it took a very long time to get our food. There was a big party by us, but much of the restaurant was empty when we had arrived. The bar was basically empty, and the bar tender, who wasn't actually at the bar, had to get the manager to gain access to the register to make change. The bathrooms look as though they belong in another restaurant altogether. Or, at least to the part of the restaurant associated with the malformed wall I earlier described. The food was good, but really for the price the other items should be stepped up."

  • "Our dinners were not hot, just lukewarm. The portions were small and very much overpriced. The manager deducted our dessert due to the dinners that were not hot. Will not return."

  • "the food was well below average. everyone had steaks and all were like chewing a rubber band. will not be returning. would recommend Mortons..."

  • "I would not recommend this location for M&S. This chain is typically reliable and good. Not the case in Charlotte."

  • "My impression after dining here was that it wasn't worth the price. There are a lot of things I really liked about it, though. Our server was quite good. There was a good selection of both food and drink. The fresh strawberry desserts looked terrific, although we were too full to try one. The outstanding part of our meal was the shrimp kisses appetizer. Home run on that one, although a little pricey at $14 or whatever it was. For entrees, my husband ordered the mahi with the dynamite crab topping. We do NOT recommend that topping. The fish serving seemed small and the veggies were definitely second-rate. I ordered the crab tower for my entree (it's an app) and it was good, but not great. For $14 it needed more crab and more zing."

  • "We chose McCormick and Schmick's to celebrate Mother's Day/Wedding Anniversary. This was my first visit to your establishment but my wife had been once prior. We arrived early in order to enjoy a drink at the bar and your staff were very personable and welcoming. They recommended dishes to try as well as the gift card program for frequent customers. We were seated in a private booth near the rear hallway and while it was a bit noisy, it was nice and offered privacy as well- which was a very nice touch and made us feel special. The food ordered was very good, grilled halibut and swordfish were the entrees we ordered - the clam chowder was outstanding and my wife enjoyed the Caesar salad as well. "

  • "They tried, but failed. Portions were way too small, staff was not educated about actually serving breakfast. The crab cakes Benedict did not come on an English muffin, when we brought this to their attention the manager brought out an English muffin on a plate. Really? It was a joke for brunch."

  • "Open table showed a Mother's day brunch was to be served. Just a special menu, nothing like what was advertised. Service was terrible, our order was wrong and had to be sent back (2 out of 4). They wanted to charge $7 to substitute spinach for the grilled vegetables. If this was my first visit here, it would have been my last. This was one of our favorites in Charlotte, not so sure now."

  • "We planned a surprise dinner for a 40th birthday. The staff was amazing; they even added Happy Birthday to the menus! I had shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. A little dry, but tasty. My sister has the salmon stuffed with crab meat; it was awesome! Everyone enjoyed the food and appetizers. Our server was very attentive. The manager came over and greeted us. Everyone was very friendly."

  • "I've been eating at McCormicks for years and have never had a bad meal at this location. Whether it's dinner or lunch, everything is cooked to perfection (I usually order fish), the vegetables are never soggy, but crisp and seasoned well. Service is good with attentive staff."

  • "We were looking for a special dining experience close to the Belk Theater. McCormick & Schmick's was perfect. We had drinks, appetizer and entrees. Everything was outstanding. The server was efficient, helpful and friendly. And the valet parking was a big plus! I would definitely go there again, and would recommend it to friends."

  • "My wife and I have a very short list of locations we prefer to dine for a special occasion and McCormick & Schmick's is often on that list. The superb edibles, the entrancing ambiance and the engaging service make this restaurant a superb addition to anyone's "short list". My wife is an avid seafood lover and McCormick and Schmick's rarely disappoints. It is highly recommended for the aforementioned reasons and so much more."

  • "I made a reservation requesting to be seated in a quieter area, somewhat removed from the majority of the restaurant. We were in the back of the restaurant, it was quiet, and we were alone. It was more than what I had asked for, and I really appreciate it. The attention to detail in my simple open table reservation was greatly appreciated."

  • "We enjoy the food and atmosphere here. We were warmly greeted like we were celebrities. Our special table request was not a problem. Our food was delicious, well presented on the plate and served according to our request, by a happy, smiling server. We lingered over coffee and dessert after an exceptional meal. This is a gem of Charlotte not to be missed."

  • "This is one of our favorite restaurants. The fresh seafood is always prepared just perfect, salads are crisp and the walnut apple dessert is out of this world. If you love fresh seafood and would like more variety than just salmon that is on every other restaurants menu, go to McCormick & Schmidt! They always have 6-10 fresh catches along with their regular specialties. We will be back real soon!"

  • "Went to M&S on a Saturday night and the restaurant was not very busy. Our server was energetic and very pleasant but we ordered an appetizer which came way after the meal. To their credit and with out asking on our part, management offered and did subtract the appetizer off the bill. My wife had the stuffed salmon which was great while the Alaskan halibut was okay at best, not a lot of flavor or spice. For desert we had the cinnamon apple pie which was no better than the best selection in the frozen section of Harris Teeter. Also our margaritas were just okay. I would bypass M&S and opt for the Mimosa Grill and their tasty trout with apricot chutney."
