Diner Reviews
  • "The food was wonderful and the service was great. It is kind of pricy but well worth it. We definitely didn't hold back and we were glad for that!"

  • "We loved the new spring menu. Good to have a change and have seasonal offerings."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "I used to love M&S and would look for one in every city I traveled to. I loved it when it came to St Louis. And then the menu started to get boring, the selections down to salmon/tilapia/shrimp, and they would even be out of what they had on the day menu. Last weekend, I looked up the menu and it was much more vaired. So we decided to try it. And it was really good - all the way around!"

  • "Enjoyed the ambience, food and service! Will be back soon!"

  • "You will not regret this experience. Hands down, best in Des Peres."

  • "overall this is a nice place for dinner for two or two couples. It is pricey, which we don't mind if the taste is exceptional. Our food was good, but not worth the price. We would try this again on a special occasion and to try a different dish. Maybe it was an off night for the chef. We had two entrees, two alcoholic drinks, no salad or appetizer and our tab was $82.00."

  • "The food was good. The service met minimal requirements of taking an order and delivering food. Nothing more... Nothing less..,"

  • "Small portions of food compared to the price. It was overall delicious but still a little hungry afterwards."

  • "I would have given 3.5 stars if I could to be honest. The food was very good although the sides that came with my fish were cold and nothing special - mashed potatoes and green beans. I certainly don't come for the side dishes, but still. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive....when he chose to stop by. He'd deliver a drink or some food and then disappear for quite some time. I actually would have rated the service lower just based on how long the whole meal took, however he was very friendly. Considering we were only a group of 4 and there was MAYBE 10 other tables with people at them in the restaurant, there was no reason the meal should have taken 2 hours. Had we stayed for desert, it easily would have been 2 1/2+ hours."

  • "Excellent place for a gathering.. Food and service was great!!!"

  • "We were seated promptly, but a bit too long for a server to show up, as the restaurant was not crowded. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable. He was attentive without hovering at first, made excellent recommendations and didn't push the alcohol, for which I was glad as the drinks are overpriced even for call brand and light on the alcohol. Crab meat patty, tasty but cold. Chopped salad - wonderful. Cobia - prepared perfectly. Filet and stuffed shrimp - spot on. A bit too long between courses and after the main course was presented, our server took a bit longer to return than desired. Crème Brulee was outstanding and the Gooey Butter cake Sundae was HUGE and tasty. Mixed review I know, but overall a pleasant dining experience."

  • "The food is well presented and delicious, and the service is great. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet welcoming."

  • "of the 6 ladies who attended, only 3 truely enjoyed their entrees. The rest of us were dissappointed to say the least. The service provided (albeit slow) was very pleasant and (she was) attentive. I enjoyed my lobster bisque while the other lady how ordered it did not. The cobb salad was also left uneaten and didn't include a normal cobb salad ingredient - eggs. My friend said there was entirely too much avacado on the salad. I found the japaleno slices on my ahi tuna entree "unnecessary". I have given an overall raing of "good" because 3 had a good experiece and 3 did not. Again, hatsoff to our server. She was fantastic."

  • "My fiancé and I came for a date night. We love sea food and were told to go. We were pleased with not only the food but the service as well. The gentlemen that waited on us was pleasant and knowledgable. What he didn't know he told us and found the answer. I hate being lied to."

  • "One of the few restaurants in the area which always has a superb selection of fish. Many other restaurants, like the adjacent place, advertise things such as "Lenten Fish", and one finds that it usually means only salmon and tilapia. McCormick and Schmick always has a couple of interesting fish specials, plus a whole list of fresh fish and stand fish preparations. I counted over two dozen this time."

  • "After a theatrical performance, we dined here again. We were again impressed by the quality of seafood; interesting preparations, and excellent service. We find notable that this upscale dining experience is orchestrated in a less pretentious arrangement making us feel welcomed, special, VIP, but not intimidated. We find the choices of fresh seafood including as many as 6 different oysters and a significant list of fresh fish to be impressive, as well as "turf" selections which are equally well prepared. The customer affinity program here is simple and generous."

  • "Pleasant atmosphere with excellent service. My steak was overcooked and somewhat dry. Fish entrees are probably a better choice. Others in my party were happier with their choices."

  • "The restaurant was not very busy on the Friday night we were there with guests . This was their first time and they were there at our suggestion and I was embarrassed at how slow the food came out of the kitchen. It was as though they had to drive to the farm to get the lettuce for the salad and then go out in a boat to catch our fish for dinner. Won't take friends there again."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "I made the reservations for dinner for me and my friends. We had a very nice evening and everyone was happy with their dinner."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "our service was just okay the Friday night we tried M&S. They were not terribly busy which is why we were surprised that it was so slow to bring out our food. We also love oysters and trying different kinds, but love a sampling of various types. M&S only sells them in 6 same oyster options. It prevents you from being able to mix and match with maybe 3 of each. This made us skip the oysters and was frustrating."

  • "Made reservation for 6:15 pm. Showed up early and sat at bar for a drink. Waited approx 7-8 minutes and neither bar tender waited on us. One bar tender was making drinks for the restaurant servers and the other was more concerend with talking with the only other two people sitting at bar. Apparently they do not realize they are missing sales with the bar tenders they employ!!"

  • "Friday night 7pm. Over 20 minutes to get water. Over 40 minutes to get bread. Over an hour to get entrees. Staff seemed nice, just not enough to do the job properly. Food was excellent, though we were pretty hungry by the time it arrived."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Food was overpriced and not outstanding for what I expected out of this high caliper a restaurant. The waiter was annoying and very pushy. This was the 2nd time I received sub-par food so I don't think I will be coming back."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "This restaurant that optimizes the world "chain". Food and its presentation were good. Service was slow. Staff poorly trained and guided in proper service techniques."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "As a person who is not a fan of chain restaurants, this is one my family and I do like. Overall, the food is good as well as the service at this location in St. Louis, but also at others we have eaten at in the Baltimore, Washington area."

  • "Extremely overpriced for the quality of food. We were very disappointed."

  • "I knew this was not a budget priced restaurant. The food and service were very good. My wife and I chose to use the current promotion ( 15.00 off 2 entrees). I no longer drink and she chose not to have a drink before dinner. We both had Arnold Palmers. We both got a refill. We have these often, when we go out. We have never been charged for a refill. The charge was only 1.00 for each of us. It certainly seemed petty for a fine dining establishment. My only recourse was to deduct this charge from my servers tip. Petty on my part, yes. But else could I do?"

  • "I've driven by M & S quite a few times but figured since it was attached to a mall it was just another chain restaurant experience, but was pleasantly surprised and will be going back again! The ambiance was nice, subtle lighting and booths were great for a romantic date night, but even the tables were spaced out nicely and you could easily have a roomy group gathering for family or friends. Food was excellent and server was very quick to answer questions and offer suggestions for someone like myself that is picky about seafood. Drinks and plates were pleasing to eye and came quickly to the table. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, even for the non-seafood fans or vegetarians as the menu had a wide selection of items."

  • "Exceptional meal and service at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, we are looking forward to returning! Both our meals, my scallops and my husband's shrimp, were delectably delicious! Also, the booths lent an ambience that made the evening meal very romantic. Super service from Jean, too! High recommendations for this restaurant!"

  • "Everything we ate was delicious! The shrimp kisses were great, the lobster bisque was amazing. Our entrees were great also. We will definitely be back!"

  • "The food was good, unfortunately we sat at a table right outside the kitchen door swinging open and closed constantly, very annoying. They must save this especially for guests that reserve on Open Table. When you drop a couple hundred for dinner for two you expect a little more."

  • "Lunch menu was excellent if you're into seafood. Good portions and waitress was attentive...overly attentive that she was constantly at our table for one thing or another. The restaurant wasn't really packed and we wanted to chat a little longer but the waitress made us feel like we should be rushing."

  • "Dined on a Tuesday, so not very busy. Had great raw oysters, very fresh. My husband and I both had fish dishes that were very fresh, with delicious veggie accompaniments. Our 17 year old son had a steak cooked to his perfection. We've been here several times and are impressed by the fresh food and the use of seasonal vegetables- the menu always has something new each time."

  • "Went on our 25th anniversary Food was very good, server was fantastic Would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "One of my guests does not like seafood but because another guest loves seafood we went to S&Ms. Our waiter brought FISH in stead of chicken which she ordered. After a bite IT of course it was noticed. Our server replaced with chicken but meanwhile the manager came and it evident from his comments he had no idea what had happened . I am sure the server told the kitchen that a customer had changed her mind . I did not make a scene because of my guests. But the server was obviously very new. He needs to be retrained."

  • "I am not normally a big fan of chain restaurants and especially those located in a mall. However our experience at this one was quite good. They have an excellent selection of all sorts of seafood with a few non seafood items for those who want something else. I took our servers advice and went with the California Halibut which turned out to be a good choice. My wife got the almond encrusted trout and it was very good as well. We had started with a bowl of clam chowder and it was very good as well. They have a nice selection of wines and had some good ones by the glass.. We finished off the meal with a nice creme brulee. The food was very good and would go again. Its not a cheap place with our meal running about $50/person."

  • "They bring out this bowl with lobster and something else already stacked in the middle of the bowl. Then they use a small pouring thing to circle the bisque around the lobster/? combo already in the bowl. The Lobster Bisque is very rich and creamy and the presentation is amazing. I already want to go back for more Lobster Bisque. I would love to have an ingredient list for the Lobster Bisque so I could try to make it at home. I'm not a great cook but at least I could try to see how close I could get to the best Lobster Bisque I've ever eaten. Any 'copycat' recipe I've seen online do not sound at all like the divine nectar I devoured at McCormick and Schmick's. The waiter and host were great. We were all pleased with service."
