This is probably the 4th or 5th time I've dined here and every time has been excellent. The food is very, very well prepared, the plate is visually and aromatically appealing and the preparation nicely thought out. Service is impeccable - our waiter was charming, knowledgable, and very responsive without being hovering. Always a great experience.

I heard good things about this restaurant and decided to celebrate my mothers 75th birthday there. Not a good choice. Portions of food are like being on a weight watcher diet. Waited over 1/2 an hour for food to arrive and our server was MIA half the time. Very disappointing.......

Our party of 7 arrived and had to ask for the brunch menu. On the menu it says they have specialty drinks, but when 1 of them was ordered they were out of the juice for it. 5 of us had Bloody Mary's and it said to choose 4 of the listed garnishes for it. Of the list they were out of celery, dill pickles, green beans, and olives with bleu cheese. The entrees were small in portion, especially the salmon. The O'Brien potatoes were bland and not amount of salt and pepper made them taste better. When ordering the Salmon Fatada we expected the salmon to be in the fatada. For a downtown eatery to post their brunch and not be able to produce the items is a disgrace and they should stop promoting brunch! #2 above does not apply!

Recently tried M&S on a Saturday evening. Appetizers were good (Tampico shrimp and Lump crab tower), but just short of great. Our table ordered the Blackened Rockfish, Cashew Crusted Tilapia, and the Ribeye. Everyone loved their dishes, but the star of the meal was the Lobster Bisque! So rich and decadent with lots of lobster chunks and crunchy croutons - Yum. The deserts were also excellent - Upside Down Apple Pie and the Heath Bar Brownie which were shared amongst us. Our server was excellent - very attentive and informative, but not hovering. She also made excellent recommendations for wine pairings. Dinner was about $100 per person before tip, but that included cocktails and wine, appetizers and desert.

This used to be a go to spot for our family, but not anymore. Last two times we've eaten here were very disappointing. The seared Ahi was rubbery (not sure how you get an ahi like that?) and my crab cakes were tasteless. My wife's scallops were ok, but nothing to write home about or justify the prices they charge at this restaurant. I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon. Cost doesn't justify quality of the meal.

We went for double points and steak and lobster special. Steak was so-so and lobster way too salty. Probably added a lot of salt to cover up the lack of freshness. Salads and dessert were good and service was very good.

Both the service and the food did not disappoint. The clam chowder was good, a bit different than the usual. Not sure if I can describe it, perhaps a hint of rosemary? But very tasty! The filet mignon was outstanding. Maybe just a scooch dry, but had excellent flavor. Cinnamon ice cream for dessert was delicious. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience very much!

We went during the week for the price fixe 3-course meal before going on to the theater. Had shrimp and linguine perfectly prepared. OUr waiter was sensitive to our time constraints and had us out-the-door so that we were there in good time for the theater. I look forward to returning!

I must preface my review by saying that this was my first experience at McCormick & Schmick's. I might try it in the future to give it a second chance. I ordered the Almond Crusted Tilapia with couscous and brandy butter sauce. Because of the nature of tilapia, I don't think the combination is a good one. The result was greasy tilapia and couscous and it was rather tasteless. I forced myself to eat half the meal. I also noticed that the bottom of the tilapia was burned and difficult to cut through with a fork. We did finish our evening with dessert and I had the key lime pie. The pie tasted good but all of the fat in the dinner and pie did not settle well that night and the next day. I would suggest removing The tilapia from the menu.

We went here Sun. at 6:15 before an 8pm show. We ordered wine and a mussels appetizer. I asked if the mussels were large plump ones. The waitress said they were medium. It took at least 10 min. for the wine to show up. We had to ask for an ice bucket. The mussels were tiny, about the size of the top part of my pinkie! I ordered the Lobster Cobb & my husband the Ahi. An HOUR later the food came out. Before the waitress put my plate down she said she would have to go back to the kitchen to have the lobster added. She returned & told me they had no lobster! Their menus are printed daily! She asked would I like crab on it instead or something else? No time for a new dish! The manager comped my entrée, but that is not the point. So unimpressed.

We had a sirloin and the New York strip. The strip was not a very good cut and lacked in flavor. The sirloin was much better and had more flavor but still could have been much better. I expected more from a steak house especially when you pay $36 for a steak. I would not go to this restaurant again. It is just too over crowded you feel like you can not move with out hitting the person next to you. I would suggest that anyone going to this resturant ask for a booth.

My wife and I were celebrating our 38th anniversary that evening. I was hoping that everything would be perfect at McCormick and Schmick's. We were seated within 2 minutes, and after 7 minutes our waiter arrived. Our waiter seemed to be off task that night. We waited over 15 minutes for our main course to arrive. He never inquired about the entree, or if I wanted another beer during dinner. Maybe I should have informed him of the special day.

My wife and I were on our way to an event at the SAP center. We looked over the restaurants that were on the way from downtown San Jose and stumbled upon M&S Seafood. While my wife went with a filet, I went with the seared Ahi. Both were done to perfection. the ahi was beautiful and basically melted in your mouth. We had the Shrimp Kisses for an appetizer and will now try to make those at home. OMG, over the top good. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and the preparation/ingredients. He took great care of us and interfaced with us well. We would go back if we lived there.

To be honest, I made dinner reservations at Morton's but after looking at the reviews, I wasn't too thirlled. Prices should never be hidden! After thinking about where we should eat, I decided to book a reservation at McCormick and Schmick's. My fiance has never been there before. It was fantastic! Our server was excellent. We felt like we were the only two people in the restaurant. We never had to wait for anything and he checked on us frequently. The food, oh, the food! The food was excellent. Cooked to perfection! My fiance was very happy and satified with his meal and loved the place. We will be back and we will recommend this restaurant to family and friends. We had a table by the window and it was just wonderful! Bravo!

We had a reservation and were seated on time. I had made the reservation through Open Table and had requested to be seated outside and a high chair. The outside table was ready with the high chair. From that point forward, service was very slow. We actually piled up our own appetizer plates just to get them out of the way. It was nearly 20 minutes after the last person finished the meal before the waitress came to check on us. All we wanted was the check. The food was average. I had the Sizzling Salmon with Asian Pepper sauce. The sauce was good, the salmon was average, not tender. The seared ahi was good. Everyone felt their meals were OK, nothing extraordinary.

We came late for the reservation, but the hostess was great. Seated us ok We didn't have a lot of time, so we just ordered the clam chowder and a couple salads. The chowder was very good. My wife had a chicken salad, she said was ok. But I was very disappointed in the lobster cobb salad. I expected a cobb salad, with some lobster chunks. What showed up was a lot of shredded lettuce, not sure what variety, and a lot of blue cheese chunks, overly drenched in dressing, and minuscule lobster pieces. At $24, a real disappointment. ,

Very little greens. The greens were saturated in dressing. The blue cheese overwhelmed the salad because it comprised 50% of the salad. There were 3 very small pieces of lobster represented on the plate. I wanted to ask for more lettuce to balance the salad but did not.

I ordered the Seared Ahi. The fish was old and should not have been served. I sent the first one back thinking it was overcooked. I ate the second one, but it was dry and had lost the fresh luster that is expected from the grade of ahi that would be served seared. If there had been a rating below poor, I would have given it. We have a McCormick's Fish House in Beaverton, Oregon, and we are regular customers. I will not return to this restaurant in San Jose.
