Shrimp appetizer was awesome. Trout was fantastic. The overall experience was far better than what we were expecting. The only drawback that we found was the noise level. Luckily we were late and the crowd was leaving but I would not plan to hear your guest speak if I went earlier than 8 p.m.

We went here Sun. at 6:15 before an 8pm show. We ordered wine and a mussels appetizer. I asked if the mussels were large plump ones. The waitress said they were medium. It took at least 10 min. for the wine to show up. We had to ask for an ice bucket. The mussels were tiny, about the size of the top part of my pinkie! I ordered the Lobster Cobb & my husband the Ahi. An HOUR later the food came out. Before the waitress put my plate down she said she would have to go back to the kitchen to have the lobster added. She returned & told me they had no lobster! Their menus are printed daily! She asked would I like crab on it instead or something else? No time for a new dish! The manager comped my entrée, but that is not the point. So unimpressed.

We had a sirloin and the New York strip. The strip was not a very good cut and lacked in flavor. The sirloin was much better and had more flavor but still could have been much better. I expected more from a steak house especially when you pay $36 for a steak. I would not go to this restaurant again. It is just too over crowded you feel like you can not move with out hitting the person next to you. I would suggest that anyone going to this resturant ask for a booth.

My wife and I were celebrating our 38th anniversary that evening. I was hoping that everything would be perfect at McCormick and Schmick's. We were seated within 2 minutes, and after 7 minutes our waiter arrived. Our waiter seemed to be off task that night. We waited over 15 minutes for our main course to arrive. He never inquired about the entree, or if I wanted another beer during dinner. Maybe I should have informed him of the special day.

My wife and I were on our way to an event at the SAP center. We looked over the restaurants that were on the way from downtown San Jose and stumbled upon M&S Seafood. While my wife went with a filet, I went with the seared Ahi. Both were done to perfection. the ahi was beautiful and basically melted in your mouth. We had the Shrimp Kisses for an appetizer and will now try to make those at home. OMG, over the top good. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and the preparation/ingredients. He took great care of us and interfaced with us well. We would go back if we lived there.

We enjoyed a delicious al fresco dinner here recently. The food was delicious and the server was very attentive without being intrusive. The coconut shrimp appetizer was fantastic. Our party loved the Cakun spice, grilled rockfish entree, the beef medallions and the shrimp scampi. The creme brûlée and molten chocolate desserts finished the meal beautifully.

To be honest, I made dinner reservations at Morton's but after looking at the reviews, I wasn't too thirlled. Prices should never be hidden! After thinking about where we should eat, I decided to book a reservation at McCormick and Schmick's. My fiance has never been there before. It was fantastic! Our server was excellent. We felt like we were the only two people in the restaurant. We never had to wait for anything and he checked on us frequently. The food, oh, the food! The food was excellent. Cooked to perfection! My fiance was very happy and satified with his meal and loved the place. We will be back and we will recommend this restaurant to family and friends. We had a table by the window and it was just wonderful! Bravo!

We arrived at 6pm, were seated promptly but did not finish our meal (dessert included) until almost 9pm. Way too much time between courses, I honestly thought the waiter forgot about us a couple of times. Had to ask for water refills. We had a reservation and were seated on time. I had made the reservation through Open Table and had requested to be seated outside and a high chair. The outside table was ready with the high chair. From that point forward, service was very slow. We actually piled up our own appetizer plates just to get them out of the way. It was nearly 20 minutes after the last person finished the meal before the waitress came to check on us. All we wanted was the check. The food was average. I had the Sizzling Salmon with Asian Pepper sauce. The sauce was good, the salmon was average, not tender. The seared ahi was good. Everyone felt their meals were OK, nothing extraordinary.

We came late for the reservation, but the hostess was great. Seated us ok We didn't have a lot of time, so we just ordered the clam chowder and a couple salads. The chowder was very good. My wife had a chicken salad, she said was ok. But I was very disappointed in the lobster cobb salad. I expected a cobb salad, with some lobster chunks. What showed up was a lot of shredded lettuce, not sure what variety, and a lot of blue cheese chunks, overly drenched in dressing, and minuscule lobster pieces. At $24, a real disappointment. ,

Very little greens. The greens were saturated in dressing. The blue cheese overwhelmed the salad because it comprised 50% of the salad. There were 3 very small pieces of lobster represented on the plate. I wanted to ask for more lettuce to balance the salad but did not.

I ordered the Seared Ahi. The fish was old and should not have been served. I sent the first one back thinking it was overcooked. I ate the second one, but it was dry and had lost the fresh luster that is expected from the grade of ahi that would be served seared. If there had been a rating below poor, I would have given it. We have a McCormick's Fish House in Beaverton, Oregon, and we are regular customers. I will not return to this restaurant in San Jose.

I love this place. Unfortunately we just had an awful experience. The manager acknowledged that they were very short staffed in both wait staff and in the kitchen. A normal hour-long dinner took an hour and forty minutes. We waited forever for our food. My husband came for the steak and lobster special, but they were out of lobster. They substituted crab legs, which were good. The steak was mediocre. My rockfish was extremely dry. We've had plenty of great meals here, so we were disappointed.

We generally like this restaurant, but one issue we have had in the past we had again this week. There are usually multiple similar dishes on the menu. One time it was an Ahi Tuna appetizer that was basically the same as the entree. I've received the wrong salmon, due to the waiter thinking he knew what I wanted, when I really wanted a different dish. We have learned to point at the menu when ordering here. This last time was the worst, though. My son ordered the seared Ahi, and he read the ingredients list carefully. Nothing was said about any sort of hot oil. However, his Ahi came drizzled liberally with hot oil. It was so hot, it was inedible. We got a new dish, but the menu really needs to be revamped, and accurate.

Enjoyed our dinner very much. Food was tasty and beautifully presented. While the portions were not huge, they were just right so there will not be leftovers to take home. We skipped salad and appetizers so we would have room for dessert. Were not disappointed there! A little on the pricey side - could not afford to eat there on a regular basis. But for a special occasion I would definitely recommend it.

I have been to McCormick & Schmicks three times and the experience has been pretty consistent - over priced, average (at best) food and inconsistent service. Out latest visit on June 20th was no different. Entrees were bland and in some cases over fried. Barely finished our salads before the main courses arrived. Cold coffee after dinner. There are many other interesting dinner choices in San Jose, avoid this one.

We usually have good food but this time I ordered parmesan crusted chicken. The top piece was thin, dry and close to looking burned.
