McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - San DiegoBlown Away by Hospitality and TasteI have been to a lot of MC&S's but this one takes the cake. From the food to their service. I was in town for an ITU Race and thus had some special requests. They were met and surpassed. But what really separates this one from the rest is the hospitality of Fernando (the manager) and the head chef's palate. Most other MC&S's, the food is of great quality but lacks some imagination. Not true here. One member of the party ordered a halibut en croute with a rhubarb marmalade. Very savory but not too much as to overpower the halibut. A mark of a chef that respects and understands their ingredients. Fernando, and our waiter were so warm and welcoming, it makes me wish I lived in SD so I could eat here regularly. Can't wait to go back4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGood choice near old town San DiegoInteresting layout with semi private booths perpendicular to the main dining room. Not sure I like it or not, but that's a physical issue not about the food. Always a good choice wherever I travel, the San Diego location is no exception. Quieter than many others on a Thursday night. Service was very good, as usual and the food was excellent. A couple of interesting entree choices that nite, one of which (a Chilean sea bass on edamame with a splash of dashi broth) should be on the permanent menu. Our server was unobtrusive but ready whenever we needed her.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Gaslamp quarter restaurantMy husband and I were visiting San Diego and we ate dinner at this restaurant. It was an excellent choice. We really enjoyed our dinner.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFun for Sunday LunchWe had just finished the San Diego Race for Hot Chocolate and we were STARVING. After a couple of GREAT Bloody Mary's at the bar we were ready to eat. They seated 6 of us right away. The natural light was so welcoming. We had the very simple lunch items but the food came quickly and was really delicious. The Kobe Burger was excellent and the must have item was the upside down carmelized apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream. Do not leave without trying at least a bite.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLuved the whole experience,Luved the whole experience, food was great, service was excellent, prices were good. Will go Back again(:3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a very good breakfastI had a very good breakfast at McCormick and Schmick on a recent business trip to San Diego. There is a hot buffet with an omelet station, but I ordered the breakfast hash, which was not made of corned beef, but sausage. It comes with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. There are fancy little details, like foamed hollandaise sauce and a drizzle of sriracha instead of regular hot sauce. It also comes with toast. It was hearty and flavorful, but surprisingly not heavy. The waiter was very professional and very prompt with the coffee refills. The space is full of natural light and very pleasant. I would go back again.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent, decorService was excellent, decor fine, and location very good for city visitors. We found the food to be okay, but not by any means outstanding; but pricey.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experienceWonderful dining experience from start to finish. Jeff the server was knowledeable, friendly and made for the great experience as did Fernando the manager. A vast difference in experience this M&S compared to the one in Manhattan, a place I would not want to return for the very reasons it didn't have what the one in San Diego has. Highly recommended.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRobert JonesMy wife and I have dined at McCormick & Schmick’s several times and each time they seem to exceed our expectations. The food is great and the ambiance is great for those who want a romantic dinner with their loved one. I rate this place 5 star all the way. The Chef has done an outstanding job with the menu selections and management is a cut above for such great service.
Thanks3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Good Seafood SpotThis is a nice place to enjoy a fine meal with great service. The view is active as you can look at the convention center, the trolley going by and some street activity. We were a little disappointed with no acknowledgement of our "Special Anniversay" that we told them with the reservation as they didnot even mention it. We frequented the McCormick & Schmick, on Rosecrans, in Los Angeles area and found them to be tops in all area's.1/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
