McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - New YorkHave they lost their edge?The food is still very good and fairly reasonable for a prime NYC address. But I feel it was much better in years past. The service was only good and st times only fair. That is both the individual waiter and management. The restaurant was empty due to the early time so nothing should have been delayed. for it. Therefore, other diners who do not know anything about the pretheater menu are not given the opportunity to have a

All of our meals were absolutely delicious from the appetizers to the desserts! Our waiter was very attentive and we were well taken care of. So far the count is 9 and the restaurant has not disappointed us. While the decor changes from city to city, the goodness of the food and the excellent service remains the same. There were 6 of us including a person in a wheelchair and they put us in a private room which was great. Our waiter was not very knowledgeable (he did not know what type of beer they had or what type of oysters he was serving) but the service was good. Our wait person, Daniel, was accommodating and most helpful with my gluten sensitivity. He kept checking my choices with the chef to make sure they were gluten free. I was dining with two friends who raved about their fish dishes, as well. The waiter was knowledable and offered suggestions. He answered any questions we had and discussed the specials of the day.
We went on Mothers Day and was given a sample of their truffles. Out of sight.

It all worked out just fine.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA Go To Choice Before Carnegie HallWhen heading to Carnegie Hall this has been our go-to place for years. it consistently delivers and gives us a great experience before heading on with our night. While usually very good, this evening our meals arrived cold. The problem was taken care immediately and we will served a replacement meal within 10 minutes. Although some might look down at a "chain restaurant" I have had good experiences there and will continue to go. Standouts were the clam chowder- a cup was more than enough. Had cocktails at the bar and were escorted to our table right on time. Service was excellent and the food was superb. The only thing that was a bit off was the background music--it seemed a little strident for the decidedly older crowd; something more mellow would have enhanced the ambiance. The entree - scallops -contained 3 medium sized scallops - not very flavorful either but that I consider luck of the draw. But 3??? The accompanying potato preparation and spinach were generous but for $30 I expected more. My companion get the $32 McCormick Seafood Trio - 2 shrimp preparations and salmon and the size of the piece of salmon was tiny - really sad.

I had the cashew-crusted talapa with rum butter sauce, which was great, and my wife had the restaurant signature sampler with salmon and two types of shrimp.
