A word from McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Minneapolis
Unique to Minneapolis, the restaurant has several "snugs" (private booths for six with draperies) in the formal dining room. The handsome interior features handcrafted mahogany, stained glass (depicting Minnesota heritage), brass accents, and Tiffany-style lamps lending a traditional note to the interior.

McCormick & Schmick's also features a lively bar experience, with a bar staff that practices traditional mixology -- hand-shaken cocktails using only bottled sodas, freshly squeezed juices and premium liquors.

Menu does not change much, but it is a consistent restaurant, you know what you are going to get but if you want variety this is not the place. The menu is pretty consistent. The servers never seem excited to be there, but they are pleasant people.

I arrived with one guest and was greeted promptly and was seated within Two minutes. The restaurant was busy but the staff seemed very in control and professional. Our server Kevin was very professional and gave very good recommendations for both dinning and cocktails. One of the best crab cakes i've ever had. We both picked from his suggestions and both entrees were perfectly executed. Dessert was good, and the hot chocolate with Rumblmintz hit the spot. Well done, i'll be back.

This is one of my favorite restaurants, but this night it was not so good. The shrimp was overcooked and tuff, my steak was undercooked and barely warm and no one stopped by our table to see if everything was ok.The service was just ok.

I first would like to thank them remembering our vets. My wife and I went to the other location and were very disappointed at that location. But the Minneapolis location put them back in my sights again. Great food and service. The ambiance is super and so the interior. My wife and I have decided to make it a quarterly stop. Thank you again.

  • Vets Appreciation Meal

Since Edina restaurant was totally booked, we went downtown Mpls., at 10 a.m., right when they opened. We were the first ones there and asked for a window seat. With much hesitation, we were finally given one. No one joined us for dining in that room for at least a half an hour. For some reason, we were surprised there were no breakfast/brunch options. (Our oversight.) The food we did order was excellent, as was the service. However, just as feedback, NOT A SINGLE PERSON, ever mentioned a veteran, asked if anyone had 'served', or thanked the vet. I just thought that was weird since that was THE REASON you were open that day! My husband (the vet) and I really appreciate McCormick's, for offering this complimentary meal to all the veterans. I just felt like the staff missed a great opportunity to really make an impression. Again, thank you very sincerely. Sandy Travers

My husband and I went early (4:30pm) on a Friday evening before a concert. We had made reservations, but being how early it was we found it unnecessary as we were the only ones in the dining room for awhile! We started with a cup of Blue Crab Chowder, and that was awesome! We ordered the Swordfish Casino and Stuffed Atlantic Salmon for dinner. The texture of the swordfish was perfect, and the salmon melted in my mouth. For dessert we ordered the Upside-down Apple Pie and it was TO DIE FOR!! We each had a cocktail with all of that and the total tab was only $100! Can't wait to go back! We already talked about making it a tradition that no matter where we dine for dinner we still have to go back to McCormick & Schmick's for dessert!

A friend and I had a magnificent lunch this week. What made it magnificent was Phiillip our server. Clearly, this gentleman was everything a person would want in a wait server. We had a special need and he was attentive to point out foods that may include the ingredient that needed to be avoided. We appetizers for our lunch. Philip told us of the order he would serve them and timed the serving of them perfectly. He was attentive to our beverages. And with all of this we never felt that he was hovering over us. He was professional and elegant.

High Prices-Poor Value. The food was very disappointing i.e. my New York Strip @$38.99 was the toughest piece of meat I have ever been served, the roasted cauliflower could hardly be cut with a steak knife, the Walnut Mixed Greens salad had maybe 3 crumbs of blue cheese. There was a constant booming sound in the background music that made me feel like I was in a Rap Bar, not a nice restaurant. Our server definitely needed more training. She was pleasant but took forever to return after an item was requested and forgot half of the items if there were more than two. This is not our first visit but our last!

Dessert was crème brulee & chocolate lava cake; both tasty. There were 4 of us; we could easily chat. The service was attentive but not intrusive.

We love this place. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a large group (with small children) and were seated near the window facing the street. This was great as the kids could look out and see the people walking by downtown. The food was great (which it always is). We all had a wonderful time. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

I was looking forward to an anniversary dinner with my wife, and seafood was the theme. We've eaten at the other twin cities 'airy' seafood restaurant king, but wished to try someplace different. We were disappointed. From slow service, specific seafood not available (how does the place run out of Mahi Mahi?), over cooked shrimp and Opah, and luke warm sides, it was disappointing to say the least. I will stick to Oceanaire if I wish a fantastic meal. But, since I am moving to the Atlantic coast in 2 months, the future holds truly fresh seafood!

Some of the food was fabulous but the fish was dry and overcooked. Service was a little slow. We gave ourselves 2 hours before a concert and barely got there in time. The biscuits for the Strawberry Shortcake tasted like day old bakery and the strawberries weren't fresh. The chocolate mousse in the chocolate bag was very bland and didn't taste like chocolate but more like just whipped topping. The Creme Brulee was delicious and the berries on it were wonderful. The manager did apologize and make good on the fish though and we really appreciated that. On a positive note, we got a front window seat which was great for people watching and I LOVE Nicollet Mall. Overall, we probably won't return.

Choosing McCormick & Schmick's as the right choice! We had awesome drinks, an amazing appetizer and entrees we couldn't get enough of. We had such a good time and made a lot of fun memories during dinner that night. It will definitely be a place we visit again and I will recommend to others! Even though we had noon reservations, the restaurant was quiet and not terribly full. We were able to eat a nice lunch for about $25, but that was only two entrees (no drinks, appetizers, desert, etc.) so the pricing was fairly high for lunch. That being said, the food is of good quality and more expensive ingredients (seafood, steak, etc.) The food was very good, and the service as attentive and very honest about his preferences on available entrees and preparations. Generally a good lunchtime dining experience.
