When I first walked in there were four people who greeted me in a most welcoming fashion. I really liked the restaurant. I could not eat the green beans, however, because they were just about raw, not even steamed, but if steamed, very little. The key lime pie was so tart it was almost inedible. The piece was more than generous with whipped cream and a raspberry sauce. The sweetened whipped cream did not help the tartness of the pie. I had ordered the warm apple pie before and loved it. This time, I was very disappointed. It did not taste fresh. The crust tasted burnt. There were large "chunks" of brown sugar that were hard to bit and did not enhance the taste of the pie. In the past, the desserts have been very good. With the outstanding service, great appetizers and delicious main course, having the end of our meal be of poor quality was a disappointment and a "downer" for the evening. I could see it being good for any number of special occassions, especially when the weather is nice and the patio is open. We spent over $100 on just the two of us but had a coupon for a free chocolate bag, which saved a bit. The food, service, and ambience were awesome! I loved every little thing about this beautiful place! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We ordered quite a bit of food just for the 2 of us and we killed it all (minus the chocolate bag dessert which we had to take home). Seriously, we ordered clam chowder, a dozen oysters, spring rolls, king crab, stuffed salmon, AND the chocolate bag.. ALL DELICIOUS!! I will make it a point to come back. The service was outstanding... our waiter, Clint, was very friendly and helpful. He made sure to check in on us and take care of us, but never felt intrusive at all. And the manager selected a perfect port for us to drink along with the chocolate dessert we had.
The food was also excellent. Perfectly prepared, fresh, and delicious! The atmosphere was perfect for a nice, romantic evening together. The lighting was comfortable, and not too dark, but not bright at all.

But we were seated at a table that had a curtain on it to block out the view. The view were the bartenders and waiters mixing drinks and figuring out bills. It was a sea of white shirts with aprons and ties on. Wouldn't recommend the seating we had. It was private but only if we would've shut the curtains. Food was amazing! The restaurant at McCormick & Schmick's on the Plaza in KC is one of the nicest M&S's I've been to in a long time. I live in Wash DC and it puts the one's in DC and at the National Harbor in Maryland a long distant second.
