  • What happened to my reservation...

It was interesting to get this survey for my dinner at McCormick & Schmick's. When my group of four arrived, they did not have the reservation for us. Just to make sure there was no confusion we tried all last names, company names, etc. to no avail. Although they were able to seat us, it is a little embarrassing when you tell out-of-town business visitors that you've made reservations and the hostess tells you there are no such reservations. -JB

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived but by the time we received our food an hour and eight minutes later approximately half of the diners were gone. Our server kept commenting that she just didn't know why it was taking so long to get our food. We were not impressed.

We went to the restaurant before the Colts (8:30pm) game. Our reservations were for 5:45pm. We barely got to our seats before the start due to the slow service. The food was fine, but not outstanding. I think there are restaurants with better value and certainly better service.

The food was a little over cooked, when I have a craving for seafood I want just that seafood with some butter! The food was a little too much for me, to many toppings, to gourmet I guess you could say.

This was the first time I did not enjoy myself at this restaurant primarily because of the poor service executed by our waitress. We had to repeat our orders to her numerous times, she still brought the wrong dish and wine out for me, and she didn't pay attention as she poured iced tea into one of my guests water glass. It's like it was her first day. On top of the poor service, the food was bad. It was a waste of my time.

My husband and I dined at M&S's for the special recognition of US military veterans. The staff, particularly our server, was wonderful and all thanked my husband for his military service. Our food was well presented and very tasteful. The restaurant decor is very nice; however, we found the music to be much too loud. With only the two of us, we still found it difficult to have conversation and be heard. The restaurant was not particularly crowded, so the only distraction was the noise level and selection of the music.

From the very moment we walked in, we felt welcome. We were met by professional hostesses, who were very attentive to the customers and while answering the phone. A smile was always on their face. The food and service was excellent. The special menu for the veterans was just right, and amounts of food were right on the spot. A top notch place!

My husband and I, both veterans, were there for McCorick and Schmick's annual veteran'd day event. We look forward to it each year, for the ambience, for the food, and for the pleasure of seeing so many veterans enjoying themselves and being welcomed. Because of this event, M&S is also high on my list of places to go to at other times of the year.

First of all, McCormick & Schmick's was very generous in offering free meals for veterans on Veterans Day. That said my last review was about the same as this one. I must qualify my remarks with the fact that because of the Veterans Day offer they may have been unusually busy, however they should have planned for it and been prepared. the waiter was inattentive. The food was mildly warm and quite late in arriving. When offering dessert, the waiter indicated that they maybe out of Banana Cream Pie but would check. He was able to determine one was almost done, however when presented (after 20 min), it was a "glob" of pudding over a crust with sliced bananas on top! Very unappetizing and only mildly tasteful.

My needs are simple when I spend a considerable amount of money for a fine seafood dinner. Good, attentive service from the wait staff, a decent wine selection and bar for cocktails, and a well-prepared meal, nothing too fussy. But since it's a chain, this place can't help practicing this annoying habit of making managers check every table to see if the dining experience is satisfactory. In theory, I think it's good practice. In practice, however, the method has become burdensome for the diner. At best, the interruption is perfunctory. Before he arrived, I was enjoying my meal with my husband. But by the time he left, I felt like complaining about him.

This was our first time to this restaurant. It was my husband's birthday and I surprised him with dinner reservations and a show "Mind Trippers". Although our entree was very good, and the wait staff very polite and attentive, our soup did not arrive before our meal as it should have. The manager took care of our drinks, but this really has a negative impact on the whole experience. My husband and I will not likely dine here again.

The past two times we have selected McCormick & Schmick's for dinner, prior to a concert, the service has been very poor and the food just average. We have used them for a number of years, but will be selecting another place in the future. Last night they did offer a free desert due to the poor service. The place did not have a full house, but had a full service team

I had the mixed seafood grill and lobster mashed potatoes. Service was excellent. My dinner was cooked about right. The mashed sweet potatoes were cool in temperature---seemed like my plate may have sat under a warmer too long. Seasoning/food flavor was alright--but, not memorable. I'd go again--but, not certain this restaurant would be a destination.

McCormick & Schmicks always provides a consistently high class dining experience. Our server was nice and attentive and did a great job of managing our group of 7. The menu has so many great choices that it really is hard to pick only one entree. My only issue was that I had just ran the Monumental marathon and had really looked forward to getting their Chocolate Bag for dessert as a reward for my hard efforts. But they were out of the custard filling that they normally have and were just substituting ice cream. Very disappointing as ice cream just would not have been the same. I left a little bummed. But I will be back simply because everything else about our meal was incredible.

We celebrated two birthdays. We had wonderful dinners. We brought one bottle of our own wine and were not charged a corking fee, which I thought was very nice. They were out of a couple of selections because of the busy week they had but the substitutions were totally great! Always a favorite restaurant and love being in the hub of downtown!

We have dined here numerous times over the years & it has been always been a good experience. This visit was very disappointing due to lack of availability of several menu items especially the desserts. Was not told to us until we asked for the items, not beforehand. The tuna appetizer & 3 of the 6 dessert items (chocolate bag, banana cream pie, brownie bomb). For a restaurant that touts the desserts as house made not to have half of them is unsatisfactory. Our reservation was at 5:45 so it was not like we came late & they had run out. Since the menu is pdf file (at least on website), need to have an updated menu distributed or up front notification. Last straw was $24 valet parking fee because we had gone to see the Pops @ Hilbert.

We came here for a very early dinner (5:00). There were only three other tables in use when we were seated. The service was extremely slow from ordering cocktails to appetizers to our entrée. We finally received our appetizer after almost an hour wait with apologies from the manager. He indicated that it would be on the "house". When our bill arrived the appetizers were still included on the charges! This is the second time we have come here and experienced such poor service. While the food is good, the service experience is unacceptable.

Every time we are in Indy we always make sure to have dinner at McCormick & Schmick's. The last couple of times were sadly mediocre but this trip reminded us of why we do like it so much. We had a very nice dining experience, the server was great and we did not feel rushed. We had a wonderful booth over looking the street (this was nice for our kids). The food was good as usual, my daughter even liked the salmon! We will be back on our next trip to Indy.

We had a 6:15 reservation on 10/21. It took 20 minutes to get our salads, which was completely overlooked by our server. Manager served the salads and bread (entrees arrived first) but never followed up during the meal, which normally happens when a manager gets involved in serving the meal. I had to hunt him down to voice our displeasure. I usually cut the wait staff a lot of slack, but our server was not that busy in our opinion. Very disappointed with the service this visit. The food quality was typical -very good but not stellar. We will come back, but not before providing feedback directly to the restaurant.

Good seafood choices with wide range of prices. Very moderate portions but ample with appetizers. Only concern was the desert options, which they were mostly out of everything we wanted to order. Service we received was just above complaining status as waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed with the party of 8, and questioned after dinner drinks when he was not familiar with them, although they are relatively common AD drinks.

We were seated promptly after arrival, however it took over twenty minutes for anyone to come to our table. Not sure why. We had to ask for a waiter. Everyone was apologetic about the delay and from that point on everything was great. The manager treated us to our appetizers due to the delay. After we told the manager that it was our anniversary he printed two menus with "Happy 18th anniversary Kathleen & Jerry." That topped our evening. The food was superb and the staff were very pleasant.

My wife ordered Alaskan King Crab Legs 1 1/2 pounds for $60.00 wow sounds yummy and what a deal. When the order arrived it looked like regular carb legs and the legs were not pre split like most upscale restaurants we have visited. Now for the really bad news, the restaurant could not provide any utensils to break the legs apart thus I had to break them with my napkin or cut with a knife for my wife. I ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi, it was a bit dry. The only savor for the day was the waiter, he made every attempt to find utensils for my wife but, no luck. He did comp a round of drinks and desert her saved the moment. This is our 2nd visit to this restaurant and will be our last.

We had dinner at McCormick & Schmick's. I had bouillabaisse. The seafood was plentiful and tasty, but the broth was very salty. My wife had scallops, which were tasty, but there were only four (more like lunch than dinner). The spinach that came with the scallops was so salty, she could not eat it.

At the facility only this feedback applies. I dealt with the banquet manager due to the large number in my party. There was a change in my date and time which I communicated through email multiple times. The banquet manager never made the adjustment, charged my card, left me a snarky message, and upon my returned call began to be very inflexible. That was until I sent her all of the correspondences between she and I and quickly her snarkyness gave way to utter confusion. Prior to me sending her all of the emails we had between she was not going to allow me to have my event. In addition she charged my credit card and promised that it would take 5-7 days for a reversal to happen - which I still haven't received 10 days later.
