A mediocre chain. Order was incorrect, steak over cooked, sauces were ice cold, etc. Just wrong. Wait staff were nice and they tried, but overall a disappointing evening.

I truly enjoyed the experience, as it was my first time there. The one small thing is that the server spoke really fast as he was describing the chef's specials and appetizers for the night. No one in my group could understand much of what was said, but we ended up ordering from the menu and the food was wonderful. The server was attentive, made sure our wine glasses never got empty and was there to clear plates without being in our way. A wonderful experience and I will be back!

High quality food is only a distant memory since Landry's took over. 4 of group of 5 ordered Halibut. Pathetic. Total, complete & absolute rip-off. $35 with NO salad or soup. Only some green beans that were so al dente that they should have been returned to the kitchen. Completely tasteless. Every heard of salt & chicken stock? A scoop of mashed potatoes, & a piece of Halibut about 4" long by 2 1/2" wide & "maybe" 3/4" thick. Really? We will stick to Happy Hour ONLY at this place.

The service was excellent. From the moment we walked through the door until we left everyone was friendly and inviting. I had the seafood trio which was average. Our guest had rib eyes and crab cakes which they all said was good. We would dine here again but it's not top on our list.

This is the third time in four visits to 3 different M&S restaurants that we were left seated at our table for 20-30 minutes with no waiter. Had to finally get up and go ask the manager or another waiter for some service. Food was ok but nothing spectacular. I won't be going back. There are plenty of GREAT restaurants in Houston so no need to waste time and money on this one.

We waited about 20 mins before being asked for our drink order. The manager came over at our request and then assigned us a waitress. The table must have been unassigned - even though it was clearly in the middle of the restaurant. She was a great waitress but clearly stretched thin and without assistance. Food was good but fish was cold (and not suppose to be). The waitress apologized numerous times and they did comp our dessert, which was appreciated.

We were a party of 7 on a Saturday night and while some if us have dined at McCormick and Schmicks more than once in other cities, this was our first experience in Houston. While the ambience and feel of the place were exactly what we knew and expected, the food was not. Some of those in the group were pleased with their choices, mostly the beef items, but others of us were not. I ordered the Cashew crusted tilapia, serve with sweet potato couscous. I was extremely disappointed when I found it to have no taste whatsoever, the entire dish was unseasoned. The cost for the meal $100+, not worth it in my book. I didn't even ask to take the leftovers home- very unlike me! One bright point, the service was very good.

This is a great place to go when u dont want to be around a crowd because u can sit in a booth with a curtain and basically dine with some privacy. I like that. The fish is fresh and the drinks are pretty good. Patron Margarita or Prosecco Sangria would be my recommendation.

The Hostess even arranged for a shuttle to Jones Hall for the Opening Night of the Symphony :-) We were well fed and delivered to our destination on time! AND the driver brought us back to the garage following the performance. We were extremely pleased and will be returning regularly.

A business dinner with a social core. Food was fantastic though service attention could be a little better. e.g. I arrived 30mins early agreed an additional place setting, yet not until we were shown our table did they then squeeze a 9th seat in and set the place. Server was real friendly. Recommended a mixed platter to start. Bacon wrapped shrimps are outstanding.

The cocktails were wonderful, the starter was delicious, and the bread was tasty and the bottle of wine we ordered was fantastic; but, the main courses were only luke warm and my stuffed salmon was cold in the middle, so I left that part, also the Irish coffees were luke warm too and hardly any cream on the top. I don't think we will be returning to McCormick and Schmick's....

It was our first dining at this restaurant. I like McCormick and Schmick's in Boston. We were greeted by nice people and a nice waiter. Like Crab cake was good as expected Dislike 1. Raw oysters were flavorless. One of 3 kinds was tiny. 2. Ordered seared ahi tuna. When I finished appetizers, however, I was told that it was not available since it is "too cold". Is it still frozen? Unbelievably unprofessional. 3. Tilapia I ordered instead was undercooked. I needed to ask to cook more. Due to this, desert was on manager's, which was appreciated. 4. Overall, tilapia and flounder that my wife ordered were bland. I uploaded my evaluation to my FB. Two people agreed.

I have eaten here several times since it's close to my office. But this time was a little disappointing, because the service I received was below the usual standards. The waitress did not bring any bread before I asked, and she did not refill my drink in a timely manner. Also, the price that was charged for my meal was really unreasonable given the small portion size.

Definately had a great experience. We went for lunch for HRW and the food was really good. The clam chowder was really good along with the sourdough breaq they serve. I would definately go again. For lunch best to pick the 12:45-1pm time to ensure a seat, but with our opentable reservation teh wait wasn't long.

We tried the HRW menu to celebrate a birthday. We also ordered calamari (it was delicious!) and kid's meal (huge cheeseburger for a kid) on the menu. We were given an extra dessert as a birthday treat. The creme brulee was delish. The molten chocolate cake with ice cream were just okay. The service was very slow: we waited awhile for the waitress to come to our table for the first time and to get our bill.

We visited McCormick and Schmitts as a part of Houston Restaurant Weeks. We made reservations and we were accommodated with a lovely table. Our meals were beautifully plated and tasted wonderful. While the meal may bit pricy for the casual diner, it would be a nice place for a more special occasion. I will have to say that parking is a beast. 10 bucks to park and long lines for valet make for a challenging evening if one is on a schedule. (Dinner and a movie or theater perhaps)

Here is an example of a helpful review: "I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
