My wife and I visited for the first time on veterans day 2014. Being a veteran I thought I would take this opportunity to treat my wife to a romantic dinner and not break the bank paying for it. Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated immediately by a very pleasant hostess. Once at our table we were greeted by a very courteous waitress who could not have been more gracious in thanking me for my years of military service in the Navy. The food was outstanding but I have to say the service was even better. Thank you for doing this in support of all the men and women who served, and for their families whose sacrifice is often overlooked. Please feel free to contact me. Peter and Eunice Valle USN Retired

My g/f and came on the evening they were having a Veterans Day dinner where we had a special menu to choose from. I chose the Tender Beef Medallions. The decor of the restaurant made you feel like you were in a $$$ upscale restaurant. Gotta hand it to Landrys. Nice soft and slightly dim ambiance and not a noisy environment. Perfect for a date night. The service was good, but NOT great. I was blown awat by the superb and impeccable service the other Landrys restaurant La Griglia provided and I had higher hopes for this place. The waiter was not slow, but also not as attentive as some may prefer. He did not have very good knowledge of the menu items, so he was not good at offering recommendations. All in all though, still a nice experience.

The upside down apple crisp is a must have. Enough to share! The manager is visible and friendly. Any time there are concerns, he listens intently and remedies the issue(s) quickly and professionally. The food is always 'something to brag about' - made to your specification of perfection.

My fiancé and i made reservations at the downtown location for Veterans Day. Our waitress was Akilah, she was amazing. So friendly. But the food.. eh. You could tell the vegetables were preplated. They were cold whereas my salmon was hot. It also came with some raspberry sauce that was stuck to the plate since it was sitting there too long. Other than that.. it was okay. Sadly, we wont be returning.

It was a Veterans Day lunch with a special menu. I appreciate the hospitality of McCormick and Schmick's Seafood downtown location. Parking was problematical. We frequent many high-end restaurants in the Houston area and nationwide so we have a good basis for comparison. The food was overpriced. Even though my entrée was complementary and my wife's entrée was $15, it still cost us over $40 with dessert (1) and no alcoholic beverages and no appetizer. Had my entrée been added in, it would have been $70+.

    Dined on 11/9/2014
My friend and I had the Veteran's Day luncheon at McCormick and Schmitt's downtown Houston.. I had the beef tenderloin medallions and he had the crusted chicken. Both were excellent, then we had the key lime pie desert. Out waiter was outstanding. We took advantage of the restaurant's offer on complimentary Veteran's Day meal. The downtown Houston McCormick and Schmitt;'s is not so close to us as we live in Bellaire but we were unable to get a reservation at the uptown restaurant. However, we were not disappointed with the downtown restaurant and everything was just excellent and we very much appreciate McCormick and Schmitt's treating veterans.

Early dinner. Left hungry & insulted. Reservations said gluten free; had to request gluten free menu. Chewing gum under the booth table over my knee. Yuck. No gluten free bread/crackers. Scallop entree so salty it burned & puckered & I couldn't taste food. I said the kitchen accidentally salted it twice & waitress swept it away graciously. A male manager arrived to interrogate; brought replacement; said that he would stay until I tasted. The scallops on 2nd plate were half-size but fresh and tasty. Cold appetizer attractive & delicious (avocado/seafood upside-down pate). This is not like the M&S in Washington, D.C. or Reston. No valet or parking. Not gracious. Women dining alone apparently not valued despite expensive wine order.

I truly enjoyed the experience, as it was my first time there. The one small thing is that the server spoke really fast as he was describing the chef's specials and appetizers for the night. No one in my group could understand much of what was said, but we ended up ordering from the menu and the food was wonderful. The server was attentive, made sure our wine glasses never got empty and was there to clear plates without being in our way. A wonderful experience and I will be back!

High quality food is only a distant memory since Landry's took over. 4 of group of 5 ordered Halibut. Pathetic. Total, complete & absolute rip-off. $35 with NO salad or soup. Only some green beans that were so al dente that they should have been returned to the kitchen. Completely tasteless. Every heard of salt & chicken stock? A scoop of mashed potatoes, & a piece of Halibut about 4" long by 2 1/2" wide & "maybe" 3/4" thick. Really? We will stick to Happy Hour ONLY at this place.

This is the third time in four visits to 3 different M&S restaurants that we were left seated at our table for 20-30 minutes with no waiter. Had to finally get up and go ask the manager or another waiter for some service. Food was ok but nothing spectacular. I won't be going back. There are plenty of GREAT restaurants in Houston so no need to waste time and money on this one.

We waited about 20 mins before being asked for our drink order. The manager came over at our request and then assigned us a waitress. The table must have been unassigned - even though it was clearly in the middle of the restaurant. She was a great waitress but clearly stretched thin and without assistance. Food was good but fish was cold (and not suppose to be). The waitress apologized numerous times and they did comp our dessert, which was appreciated.
