  • Uncooked steak

Farewell dinner w/my 26 yr son .The food was the problem Son ordered ribeye steak $38.Arrived singed but utterly uncooked inside. He has never sent back a dish before but he was grossed out by raw meat. He sent it back instructing the kitchen to make medium. The shrimp was overcooked and chewy but I did not complain for fThe steak returnedd xhalfway thru my entre. The meat was still uncooked. The waiter did not wait to see the results. So my son hailed another waiter to take back the steak. Next the manager appeared to apologize. All she offered was a sad face. and apologized. My son was embarrassed by this entire situation.Steak returned for the 3rd time it was cooked but rather tough. The manager paid lip service to the problem.

Our lunchtime service was excellent, and M&S is quiet enough for a meeting, which is great and hard to find in DC. Sadly, the food was barely mediocre. I had a caesar salad with fried calamari. It was bland, underdressed, and the calamari was overcooked and dry. Inexplicably, the salad also included corn and a LOT of tempura vegetables (carrots, hot peppers, cauliflower, and I think broccoli.) Since tempura vegetables were not listed on the menu, it was a bit disconcerting. My dining companion had a cod sandwich that was uninspired; he said that the roll tasted like it came from Safeway. We used to love M&S, so this was a disappointment. The restaurant was largely empty, which in retrospect was not surprising.

I went to M&S with a 10 friends for a business dinner. First, we waited for 15 minutes for our drinks. Dinner was not served at once, they brought a few plates at a time and my order (the host) was not ready at all. Several people returned their food bc it was cold. Meanwhile, the drinks... another 15 minutes. No, we weren't ordering fresh made Mojitos with muddled mint. We requested simple drinks: Beer, Jack & Coke, wine. After spending over $700 we asked the host to call us 2 cabs, which they couldnt do either. The last round of drinks took so long, I walked up to the bar and took them myself and demanded the beer and wine and were missing from the order. Overall the kitchen and bar service was terrible. I expected much more.

Took our son and family to dinner because M&S is one of our favorite restaurants when we travel and at home in Austin. The steamed mussels were delicious, albeit small; Chincoteague Oysters were outstanding as were the Iceberg wedges, salmon, tilapia, flounder and strip filet. Lobster Bisque was great with lots of lobster. Great wine list and good choice of side dishes. Only disappointment was the service. Server kept forgetting things, i.e, one wedge salad, glass of milk for grandson, glasses of sherry after dinner and had to be reminded when we could locate her. All staff were extremely polite when they were available. Restaurant was not crowded, but it appeared staff spent a lot of time talking in the kitchen area.

Arrived 10 minutes before reservation time and were seated within 5 minutes. Food was good (with a little salt added) but there was a hold up on the stuffed shrimp. Fortunately we were not in a rush. The manager came and personally apologized then made up for the delay with free dessert for all. Not expected but most appreciated by all.

Service in the restaurant was very slow while Happy Hour was going on. Both the wait staff and kitchen seemed overwhelmed. Next time I'll go to Happy Hour instead of reserving a table in the dining room.

Was looking forward to lobster bisque since i had that at their Cincinatti location... but (although on the menu at this location...) they didn't have it available. I wanted sockeye salmon (also on menu), but again- they didn't have it available... i settled on a steak filet but that came to me on a virtually empty plate of the steak with 1/8 cup of some soggy veggies and a single grilled tomato plus the steak was not cooked to the temp i requested (wanted med well, got medium). The waiter left us with the dessert menu for nearly 10 minutes before getting us our checks (when we had told him no thanks on dessert to begin with, just the check please). To top it off, The bathroom toilets were clogged.

I love McCormick & Schmick's. I visit frequently and rarely have any issues. However, on August 19, 2014, I went to celebrate my birthday. We had a 6:30 reservation. They did not seat us until 7:30. The hostess gave a speech that was clearly written for her and she did not modify it although the questions I asked required a different response. She said, " our manager knows you have been waiting. They are making the rounds to apologize to our guest right now. The reason for the extended wait is to ensure we pride you with a great service". I asked how much longer and she gave the same response. I mentioned that I have not seen a manager and she have the same response. Once seated, the food was mediocre at best, the server slow... Worst ever!

had a 6PM reservation. they knew we were going to a 7:30 concert and needed to eat fast. Seated us at 6:20 and didn't see a waiter unbtil 6:30. He informed us that the kitchen couldn't guarantee food in time for us to leave in time. we asked for items that were quick. received drinks at about 7 and food(appetizers) at 7:15. Waiter was very apologetic and did the best he could. tables around us were empty and we never saw a manager. never offerredeveen a free drink. I have been a big fan of this restaurant in the past but never again. the manager obviously is not trained in even the basics of personal service

This is the second M&S location I've tried and will never return to. I'm ready to give up on the entire chain. The food is decent and the servers were much nicer at this location than the other. But my guest and I were the only people in our section of the restaurant and we had to work to get any kind of attention from our server. I had to ask for every water refill, ask for bread, wave her down when there was a problem with the food. She was too busy talking to her friends or coworkers to do her job properly (but again, was very nice when we did interact with her). Regardless, I will not be returning.

The cocktails were perfect, with no need for explaining how to make them. My friends all declared their meals delicious and beautifully prepared. As a vegetarian, I try not to let my dietary preferences interfere with my meat-eating friends' dining choices, and I'm usually able to find enough on the menu to make a meal. In this case, pickings were slim, so I opted for the grilled asparagus and the pan roasted wild mushrooms. The Margherita Flat Bread I ordered turned out to be unavailable, so I asked for risotto. The mushrooms were delicious paired with the adequate risotto, but the asparagus was, shall we say, "mature." The Chocolate Bag for dessert was very tasty--almost as good as Isabella's on NYC's upper west side.

We went during restaurant week for lunch, and told the host that we were on a time crunch. My dining guest and I had the same lunch, shrimp scampi, salad for me, calamari for her, and both had the apple pie. After 1 hour, we had only received our salads. I complained to the manager was given a complimentary appetizer coupon with the purchase of an entree. Inasmuch as we had to wait an hour for just hour salad, to not make an adjustment on the current bill was bad management. I won't be going back any time soon. Contrast that experience to Georgia Brown's for dinner, which was packed to the hilt, but was one of the best dining experiences. There was no unusual wait for food, the staff was very attentive and I will be going back soon.

I have dine at this restaurant in the past and the service and portions have always been very good. Sad to say not this time. I realize that the restaurant and any business establishment "has" to make money, but on the same token a customer should get their money worth. We specifically told the hostess AND our waither that this was a birthday lunch and we had a timeframe. Even tho reservations were made for 12:00, we did not get seated until 12:10. The restaurant was NOT crowed. We ordered and the food did not arrive until 30-45 minutes later and the portions were unbelievable small. Not worth the price AT all althought the decrations on the plate were cute but NOT ediable. Bottom line I would recommend Legal Seafood instead.

Perhaps my expectations were too high for this well-known long-time establishment. Ambiance and service was lovely. Our waiter was knowledgeable. Three of us dined, each ordering a different meal: salmon, crab cakes and tilapia. All three were luke warm at best. Luke warm crab cakes are not appealing! Portions were small and we are not large eaters. We actually had to request bread twice to tide us over. Hopefully this was not representative of the establishment as a rule.

Our a birthday dinner was ruined by inattentiveness, apathy, forgetfulness and extraordinarily slow service! We received and finished our appetizer (missing 1 shrimp) 10 minutes BEFORE our drinks arrived. Our waitress (Melissa) disappeared, so we had to ask a manager for bread (tables seated after us had bread). We informed the manager of our slow service. When the manager inquired about our entrees, we asked her to cancel the soup our server forgot to bring. When our server arrived 10 minutes later to inquire about our food, she brought the soup. It then took our server 20 minutes to return our credit cards after we chased her down for the bill! The manager never apologized for our horrible service.

The restaurant prepared special menu's that included a "Congratulation message" which i though was a nice touch and was well received by my guests. Our server was Calvin and he did a fantastic job of take care of all of our requests. He was very polite and professional. I would definitely recommend McCormick and Schmicks for other parties that i plan to host there.

Went on a warm Monday evening in July at 7:30 pm - very few people there, but although not busy, service was slow or perhaps disinterested. Waitress indicated she would bring bread to the table after taking drink orders and never did. On the plus side, waitress was friendly with a 10-year old in our party and made him feel welcome. Food was OK, and not overpriced, but I have had much better meals at the McCormick & Schmick's in Boston.

we went there before 4th of july fireworks. people welcoming you were nice and servant was nice. it took them forever to bring appetisers. we ordered three stuffed salmons for our party of 5. One came with another entree. Two came after like half hour while everyone else waited to eat together and then after a while were done with their meal and sat there again waiting for other 2 people in the party still without food. Mashed potato was very good. Stuffed salmon was average. For this kind of money, you expect excellent service. The restaurant wasn't even full.

My overall experience was not nice at all! I made the reservation for my boyfriends 28th bday on a Tuesday, when we arrived there was no one at the front to greet us & when we finally were helped, we were told we had to wait ten minutes. Ten minutes turned into almost thirty, the lady kept telling us she was trying to find a table for us. The spot my boyfriend and I were standing at, we seen MANY available tables that were STILL available when we left. The lady finally found a table for us, then it took ANOTHER fifteen minutes until our server took our drink orders. The food overall was not that great, we will NOT be dining here ever again!

The food is really, really good. Entrees are accompanied by steamed veggies instead of a lot of junk like French fries. I'd like to go back and work my way through all the appetizers. Our waiter seemed like a rookie--nice enough, but forgetful. In the middle of our meal we were told his shift was over, but apparently no one told him this, so we had two waiters the rest of the night, which left everyone confused.

Maybe because it was at 8:30 on Saturday night that the place was quiet because it was like a ghost town, hard to find other diners and staff. The cucumber cocktail was the highlight of the evening. Both plates were returned, one undercooked, the other had cold mashed potatoes. Both plates were returned as ordered and while there were no further issues, the staff was hard to find. Perhaps a short staffing problem. But we have dinned there before in the day and the place was busy and full without any incidents.

It was not busy and after a long wait we had to remind our server to bring our cocktails. They were terrible and were removed from bill, we switched to wine and beer, . The bread was cold, tough, butter had an old taste. My partner's catfish was eatable. I chose the Chef's Exclusive Dinner Cashew Crusted Tilapia. The salad would have been good if the balsamic vinegar wasn't the only flavor in the dressing, very bitter, hard to eat. My fish seemed microwaved for half was cold, center section hot and it was not "crusted" but soggy. I could not finish it. The Creme Brulee was presented well but was way too sweet and getting old. The restaurant was not busy but our server, though friendly, kept disappearing. Will never visit again!
