Diner Reviews
  • "Think the waiter said that every time he came to our table."

  • "we went there before 4th of july fireworks. people welcoming you were nice and servant was nice. it took them forever to bring appetisers. we ordered three stuffed salmons for our party of 5. One came with another entree. Two came after like half hour while everyone else waited to eat together and then after a while were done with their meal and sat there again waiting for other 2 people in the party still without food. Mashed potato was very good. Stuffed salmon was average. For this kind of money, you expect excellent service. The restaurant wasn't even full."

  • "After the fireworks on July 4th, we went out for dinner, and the M&S came through! It was a great experience with the usual excellent food, but the service was excellent as well. Many smiling faces, and taking care of everything we needed. It was a great experience, and we will go back next time in DC."

  • "Short notice reservation, food was great and the service was exceptional."

  • "The food is good, not superb but solid. There is a great lunch special. The service this time was good, but at times it can be inconsistent."

  • "The entire experience was fantastic. The private seating area and service was excellent. The staff was attentive and customer-focused. The food was timely, cooked to perfection and tasted great. The dining experience exceeded my expectations and made a very sepcial occasion both enjoyable and memorable - THANK YOU!"

  • "Reliably good food and ambiance! They were nice to give special attention for a Birthday celebration as well."

  • "My overall experience was not nice at all! I made the reservation for my boyfriends 28th bday on a Tuesday, when we arrived there was no one at the front to greet us & when we finally were helped, we were told we had to wait ten minutes. Ten minutes turned into almost thirty, the lady kept telling us she was trying to find a table for us. The spot my boyfriend and I were standing at, we seen MANY available tables that were STILL available when we left. The lady finally found a table for us, then it took ANOTHER fifteen minutes until our server took our drink orders. The food overall was not that great, we will NOT be dining here ever again!"

  • "The food is really, really good. Entrees are accompanied by steamed veggies instead of a lot of junk like French fries. I'd like to go back and work my way through all the appetizers. Our waiter seemed like a rookie--nice enough, but forgetful. In the middle of our meal we were told his shift was over, but apparently no one told him this, so we had two waiters the rest of the night, which left everyone confused."

  • "Overall the quality was good. Food was tasty and fresh. Service was friendly - almost too much so - but oddly still slow. Good if you're in the neighborhood look for fish, but I wouldn't cross town for it."

  • "I met a girlfriend for lunch and it was the perfect location for both of us. She lives in MD and I live in VA, the location was perfect for both of us, half way point and McCormick being located close to the metro was even better! We both choose the lunch special, I had the blacken talpia, it was excellent!! I will be back!"

  • "Maybe because it was at 8:30 on Saturday night that the place was quiet because it was like a ghost town, hard to find other diners and staff. The cucumber cocktail was the highlight of the evening. Both plates were returned, one undercooked, the other had cold mashed potatoes. Both plates were returned as ordered and while there were no further issues, the staff was hard to find. Perhaps a short staffing problem. But we have dinned there before in the day and the place was busy and full without any incidents."

  • "It was not busy and after a long wait we had to remind our server to bring our cocktails. They were terrible and were removed from bill, we switched to wine and beer, . The bread was cold, tough, butter had an old taste. My partner's catfish was eatable. I chose the Chef's Exclusive Dinner Cashew Crusted Tilapia. The salad would have been good if the balsamic vinegar wasn't the only flavor in the dressing, very bitter, hard to eat. My fish seemed microwaved for half was cold, center section hot and it was not "crusted" but soggy. I could not finish it. The Creme Brulee was presented well but was way too sweet and getting old. The restaurant was not busy but our server, though friendly, kept disappearing. Will never visit again!"

  • "Appetizers were good inclduing the Crab Tower. My Ahi Tuna dinner tasted very good but was not seared properly. The Shrimp scampi my wife had was seasoned and cooked well and tasted very good. We would go back again if in DC."

  • "We found our experience for our son's college graduation celebration very relaxing and enjoyable! The staff were very attentive and the food came out all at once and hot for our large group of 14. "

  • "We eat at this chain of restaurants at least once when we are traveling. They always have great food, reasonable prices, accommodate our child, and have wonderful service. This particular restaurant was just a fabulous as the rest. I highly recommend going there!"

  • "I was absolutely pleased with the level of service, atmosphere, price point, and food at this location. The server was prompt and attentive to our group which was 7 very picky individuals. The decor of the location was very elegant and appropriate for my Master's graduation which we were celebrating. The menu offered meals ranging in economical price points to suit most restaurant goers. The food was presented elegantly and the flavors were on point. We ordered both a bottle of wine and individual drinks and everyone was happy with their selections. I will be going back to McCormick's but at a Boston location where I live."

  • "I've been to better Outback steakhouse. Horrible service right from the start. Most, if not all, staff interactions were very frustrating because of utter incompetence. I paid for almost $40 for an overdone and under seasoned steak, which I had to wait an hour to even be served. Never ever ever eat here if you want a decent experience. So far, the worst restaurant I've ever experienced, especially considering the price."

  • "The food was fine (not great, but fine). However, the service was horrendous. We had made a reservation for 8, yet the hostess tried to seat us at a table for 6. When we objected she gave us a lot of attitude and said the table for 8 was booked. (Yeah, by us). She finally relented and moved us. No idea why she was being difficult, as the restaurant was only half full even though it was a Saturday night, and never filled up. Apparently others know better than to dine here. The waiter was terrible - inattentive, and brought meals out at different times. When we finished dinner he simply presented us with our bills, and didn't ask if we wanted coffee/tea or dessert, which was bizarre. Lousy experience."

  • "Our server should have checked back with us more after we received our entrees to see if we needed anything. Also, when we were getting ready to leave, I heard the introduction/presentation of the female server at the next table who was very thorough in explaining the Dinner Specials to the diners. Our server was nothing like her. She was amazing. Overall, the food was pretty good but it would have been nice if the portions of my salmon dish were a bit more. "

  • "We needed somewhere reliable before a theater date and M&S didn't disappoint on the food front, tasty and well presented, although at least one of the appetizers was off, and it was only 6pm. Service though was indifferent, we never felt our server was fully engaged with us and he went missing for fairly long stretches of time. We'll return to M&S because they are convenient, reasonable value and the food has never disappointed, but on the evidence of this service they need to sharpen up the service and not rest on their laurels because demand remains high."

  • "We had a party of 13 people, including 3 kids, with a total bill of over $450- you would think the server would be attentive. We were seated at abuot 5:20, 10 minutes early for our 5:30 reservation and by 7pm we still did not have entrees. Yes, we had salads, but we asked for food to come out as it was ready since we had young kids with us. I did speak to the manager, who seemed to want to help so that we would have a good expereince, but not that much seemed to be done. While one member of the party was eating dessert, there were still salad plates that I had to ask to be cleared. If you have 3 hours to spare, the food was good."

  • "Great fish with enough of a twist to be different, but still let the fish come through. Service was impeccable, going the extra mile. Overall, always a great experience, and about the same price as other better restaurants."

  • "We had a six pm reservation before our Shakespeare theatre tickets at 7:30, the restaurant was less than one sixth full, but still we got slow service. It tok the waiter over fifteen minutes to bring my soda and my friends glass of wine. They came after the salad, even though we ordered them at the same time. The waiter rarely came near our table, let alone to it, and refilled the water just once. So disappointed.we barely made it to the theater on time."

  • "I had eaten at this restaurant twice before, at different locations, and was greatly disappointed by the taste of the New York Strip steak. It tasted as if it had been soaked in water and all the water had not been removed. At any moment, I expected someone to tell me that they had purchased their steaks from Walmart. The steak was flavorless."

  • "The head manager Shari was terrible. Our table was not ready when we arrived. We waited at the host stand and had to keep asking when it would be ready. She obviously messed up and tried to blame her staff when she was the only one working the computer. She was very rude on top of everything. When we finally sat down they put us in front of the open kitchen which was very noisy. Our waiter moved our seat for us which was very nice. Then it took forever to get our drinks. We asked to speak to the manager and they said "let me get you the assistant manager, she is much nicer!" Very true. The assistant manager Sophie was very helpful and made sure the rest of our time there was a better experience. Overall BAD service but good food. "

  • "The food was great, as usual at your restaurants across the country. Every one was service friendly EXCEPT our waiter. He was slow, inattentive, apathetic, lacked enthisiasm, and generally seemed to be disinterested in his customers. He was polite, but just totally apathetic. "
    Dined on 4/17/2014
  • "A bit pricey but we got the special for $14.99 which was very good. Have gone there before with gift card and have always been pleased with both food and service. Waitress this time seemed a bit distracted had to ask twice for water. "

  • "I just have a few complaints, one that I checked in and was still shown as a No Show. Once we were seated we had to request different silverware because it was dirty. We were seated in a booth and the wood on the booth was very dusty."

  • "We used to love this restaurant for its food. We hadn't been in awhile. Now we will never go back and never recommend it to anyone else. Such a shame. We waited for 20 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us while having to listen to techno "house" music (hardly ideal for high-end dining much less any dining). Three different servers walked by our table repeatedly almost as if they were trying to ignore us on purpose. We didn't get so much as a look, much less a glass of water. We left and ate somewhere else. P.S. The people who work here need a lesson on customer service from the wait staff at The Capital Grille. They've got it down perfectly."

  • "We met some out-of-town relatives in DC to see the cherry blossoms. Server was attentive, prompt, brought us extra sauce/ketchup as needed. Food was delicious (especially the crab cakes). One of our group of four prefers meat to seafood; she said that her steak was delicious, sides were tasty and appropriate. Would definitely go there again."

  • "On what is probably the busiest day in DC, the Cherry Blossom Parade day I was looking for an early dinner in town since I had a 8:00 show at National Theatre. Via OpenTable all of my favorite restaurants were booked. This location had reservations for every time slot. Obviously people knew something I did not. We had a 6:00pm reservation and need to leave by 7:30pm. We did not get seated until 6:25pm - while I was looking at six empty tables in clear view. But when we were seated on the other side of the bar HALF OF THE TABLES WERE EMPTY!!! The waiter was OK the simply grilled fish was WAY too salty, my Lobster tail was under cooked (NEVER had this before). Obvious Management problem with staffing and scheduling and bad kitchen. STAY AWAY"

  • "We often dine at McCormick & Schmick's prior to Caps hockey games. This visit was pretty weak. The waiter ignored us repeatedly. Food was OK. He failed to mention that there was a vegetable with the meal which negated the need to order an additional one. Seemed a waste of food and money. Perhaps he was new as he spilled a beer on someone at the adjacent table. An accident but the staff seemed far more interested in wiping up the floor and the chair than the diner himself. Other waiters seemed to stop to chat right at our table which was uncomfortable. Overall, a C- rather than the normal much higher grade."
