We visited M & S while in Pittsburgh for a business meeting. We arrived early and we were immediately escorted to our table. Our waiter, George, did an excellent job of describing the menu. We had our drinks and appetizers quickly and they were delicious! Main courses came out quickly and were delicious! It was fabulous evening!

made reservations for dinner but decided to stay in the bar for happy hour as we were going to a concert. bad move! The fish tacos were okay but the ahi tuna was over cooked and the shrimp appetizer was not very good. the waitress agreed about the tuna and took it off of our bill. can't compare to bone fish or even mithcells fish market happy hour. However, the wait staff was very efficient and pleasant.

Our party was just amazed at the number of seafood choices that were available on the menu. Everyone enjoyed the lobster bites appetizer and their entrees of scallops, ahi tuna and swordfish. The desserts were awesome too. Try the chocolate bag!!

Have had good experiences previously at other locations, but at this location on two different occasions now the food was mediocre and the service was off. Requesting items 2-3 times before delivery. Disappointing cut of meat...stick with the seafood.

I have gone to this restaurant for their bar happy hour and it is great. Went twice for lunch and was not impressed either time. Food was average for the price. The first time for lunch, we did not get any bread service. I had the buttermilk fried shrimp--nothing spectacular. The second time, I had the shrimp wrapped kisses for an appetizer and they were good but my lobster bites were fair--not much flavor and not much of them. My lunch companions had the salmon and cod and both said their entrees were good. The only reason I would return is that I am a Landry's member.

I had excellent cashew encrusted tilapia - topped with a fruity sauce that delivered a bit of heat. Wonderful! I had seen the 24.99 price fixe menu on the website so was surprised when I didn't see it on the paper menu at the restaurant. When I asked...the waitress said it might only be at the south side pgh location..not at the downtown location. She checked and said that they could do it. But there should be consistency between the 2 locations as well as consistency of their menu with their on-line version. The one disappointment were the brussel sprouts and potatoes side dish, which for $7.99 was pricey for what we got. 4 of the potatoes wedges were crunch...not edible. We were in a hurry so I couldn't do anything. All else great!

I visited this spot with a small group. We had good service since we were practically the only party at 8 pm on a Friday. Once everyone leaves for an 8 pm show, the place is empty. That is sort of sad. We enjoyed various fish dishes, and one steak eater in the group was happy, too. Desserts were nice, esp a great looking almond crisp cup with strawberries and vanilla mousse. Also nice to use Landry's birthday reward and earn extra points.

My wife had the "Chef's Special", swordfish with Asian pepper sauce; I had the "Sunday special", Surf and Turf. We both had a la carte salads and we shared a dessert. The taste of all food items was excellent. Only issue was the lobster had a grayish color that was a bit off-putting. The wine list was good but on the high side in price compared with other places we dined in Pittsburgh. Our waitress was very helpful and pleasant but seemed to be covering a lot of tables and the service was slow.

I was severely disappointed in the food this time. I have come for happy hour on several occasions, as I work downtown. I wanted to have a nice romantic dinner with my boyfriend and thought your main dining area would be ideal. Our waitress was the best part of the whole experience. I got a stuffed salmon entree which was good, but my boyfriend's Mahi Mahi was awful, over cooked, rubbery and dry. I decided to get a dessert and tried the cinnamon ice cream. I had to ask if it was supposed to have chunks in it, as the ice cream was crystalized (like freezer burn)! A very underwhelming experience and for the price absolutely not worth it. Very disappointed. And to my boyfriend's annoyance, the plug for the Landry card.

My first experience with McCormick & Schmick's was at the Oak Brook Terrace, IL location a few years ago and it was very disappointing. The service was lackluster and the food mediocre at best. I had no desire to return. But while visiting Pittsburgh this past weekend, the other two in my group chose this restaurant. Completely different from my first experience. Our waiter, George, provided exemplary service; attentive yet respectful of our time, and very accommodating, warm and friendly. The food was delicious and prepared just right.

We had a family reunion on Sunday August 31. There were 14 of us in our group including a baby. The service was simply outstanding. George and Chris were the 2 best waiters we've ever had. They made the whole evening wonderful, including treating our birthday celebrant very special, and being wonderful to the baby with ideas to keep him occupied. They kept the evening moving while not rushing us. The food was excellent and there was not a less than excellent dish including appetizers, main courses and desserts. All of the seafood was very fresh and was served piping hot. We plan to hold future family events at M & S.

Having the daily special is always a risk. This time it was 50% or so. The small fillet was good and properly cooked. The small lobster tail was discolored (possibly from meat juices) even though the taste was not off. waiter paid much to much attention to the "regular" customer.

Been to several McCormick & Schmick's but first time at this location. Had a very nice atmosphere, although a little dark. Service was very good both in the bar before dinner and in the dining room. Waitress in bar was helpful explaining happy hour deals and very friendly. Waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, answering several questions. The meal was ok but not great with one dish overly salty and another over cooked. Not to the point of sending them back but a little disappointing.

The waiter was unbelievably aggressive with all selections from the flavored iced tea to extra salad. He pushed my girlfriend three separate times to try the iced tea after she said no the first time, and he consistently encouraged us to order more food eventhough we expressed no interest. Unforunately poor service (which was, admittedly, quite knowledgable), but the food tasted good. We will not return.
